Wintery Delaware Avenue
Happy Saturday
Happy Saturday. We survived the first work-week of March. βοΈ
So yes, you have something to celebrate. No radioactive fall out yet. Plus the days are getting longer, next weekend is the time change. Massive inflation of daylight is expected over the next month, Albany is expected to gain another 1 hour and a half of daylight unless of course nuclear winter.
This morning we are at around 20 degrees, βοΈ on the way up to 42 later. And then the low sixties by tomorrow afternoon, after a rainy night into the morning. That will be tough on the snow, which is suppose to take a lot of damage between the rain on Sunday morning and most of Monday. π§
Next weekend is the time change, π which is always nice when we have more light in the evening. Sunset won’t be until after 7 PM come a week from Monday. And Saint Patricks Day. π Often the second half of march goes quickly for me as work is often busy although maybe not so much in my new position.
I see they have finally dropped the muzzle-mandate at the library π· although truth be told I’ll probably still wear it down there, though maybe not when I’m sitting down at a desk. I didn’t know if they’d ever drop the muzzle mandate. That said, with unlimited data on my phone, I don’t really have much of a need to go to down the library much.
The alternative is to walk out to Five Rivers, π¦ which honestly I’m more inclined to do. Then I don’t have to shower. If I was responsible, I would go to JC Pennies and get another dress shirt π¨πΌ and then go for a hike out at the Albany Pine Bush π² but honestly I don’t want to drive with the absurdly high gas prices these days. I am really low on groceries π‘ but high gas prices β½ and grocery prices are a good excuse not to go shopping. I am sure I can find something to eat around the pantry, even if it’s stale and not particularly good.
I don’t know how I will afford to get out of town this summer π but I guess I can still find ways to get out of town at least once or twice a month. π Gas is expensive but so is everything in life. My budget isn’t as bad as it once was, although I saw from my credit card company that my balance is over $500 again. π³ I don’t drink alcohol anymore, πΊ so they saves money, and with the solar I often like to set up camp and leave the engine off all weekend. I might do several long weekends at House Pond this summer, and then a Finger Lakes trip, where I spend every other day at camp and nicer days in Watkin Glen at the pool and beach.

Weather Update – January 24, 2022
Less cold today π
Still not warm, but relatively speaking, I guess I will take 25 degrees. I didn’t leave the heat turned up before work today, as it is going to be reasonably cold tonight and the sun should warm things up well. Tuesday night into Wednesday though will be cold. βοΈ That said, I am hoping to get to the store tonight and wash my truck — after the snow yesterday, the salters where out so I figured going to the store and washing my truck was a futile activity. π But it’s January.
It might warm up come February, although that comes with the asterisk that it might mean more snow. Or maybe it actually will warm up. π¦ Then my metrologist friend says that March will be cold and snowy, but that’s always off. π¨ Then comes April. πΊ I like April as the snow usually is more reasonable, good for going up to the Adirondacks or maybe Central NY. π Need to camp have a big fire to burn off all the paper and other burnables, π₯ especially with them no longer having the free paper recycling dumpsters in town. β»οΈ The first campfire of the year is always fun, especially with the cold beer.

Good Morning – January 24, 2022
Good morning! Monday’s come back around again. π
What do I know, I mean I worked on both Saturday and Sunday. Got in 7 hours of work between those days, including spending most of Saturday afternoon working downtown. And I’m salaried, so that means only Comp Time. So what weekend? LOL!
Partly cloudy and 16 degrees on the earlier CDTA Route 18 heading downtown. β Calm wind. There are 4.5 inches of snow on the ground. β οΈThings will start to thaw out at tomorrow around 1 pm. π‘οΈ
I don’t know, it doesn’t feel that cold. π That sunshine feels good this morning. I kept the heat turned down but I left the kitchen cabinets open, to be safe with it, and make it extra easy for the mice to get in them and trip over the open drawers. I’m just tired of paying for the extra heat to keep the pipes thawed, even though I’ve never had any problems.
I was up early as I needed to get in the office early to get yet another project finished up. π Another dress up day for work, but I’ve been doing it for so many years that almost all my dress clothes is comfortable, well fitting, easy to wash and get ready for work. Then it will be a big rush to get that stack of work done in the morning.
I am hoping to get to the store this evening and wash my truck. πΏ I have enough groceries for now, but I am starting to run low and I want to get as much of the salt off my truck as possible before it sits for the rest of the week. I keep wanting to wash my truck, but it’s been tough, as it’s always salty this time of year. I was going to go last night, but it snowed in the evening after seeing the folks, and they applied more salt to the roads to clear them, and with the wet salt, it would have been sprayed everywhere before I got back from the store.
