Delmar, New York

Delmar is a hamlet in the Town of Bethlehem, in Albany County, New York, United States. It is a suburb of the neighboring city of Albany. The community is bisected by NY Route 443 (Delaware Avenue), a major thoroughfare, main street, and route to Albany.

A census-designated place (CDP) has been established since 1980 by the U.S. Census Bureau for tabulating the population of what the census has defined as the boundaries of the urbanized area in and around Delmar. The population was 8,292 at the 2000 census, but it was not included as a CDP in the 2010 census.

In 2005, CNN/Money Magazine named the Delmar ZIP Code (an area larger than the Delmar hamlet or CDP) as one of the “Best Places to Live” in America, rating it the 22nd best place to live among what it called “Great American Towns.

Rainy Tuesday as Session Wraps Up

Good morning on this rainy Tuesday. Theoretically tomorrow is the last session day but things could get streched out a few more days.

Decided to take the bus into the city today as I hate driving in the city. I think I won’t be at work after 11:30 PM. Even if I get stuck waiting for the bus for a while it beats having to deal with parking and city traffic. Even if I had parking it still would suck.

Last weekend was fun out in Madison County. Except for the inclement weather conditions on Friday the weather was quite nice. The water levels on the Nine Mile Swamp were a bit high for paddling but it was nice out on Lake Moraine. Both nights were nice camping and both the electicity/lamps and the stove worked well.

June 14, 2015 evening

Humid and 68. While the southern Finger Lakes have flooded, we have just received a few sprinkles here. More rain is expected tonight and tomorrow, but it looks for now the heaviest rain will miss Delmar.
