Delmar, New York

Delmar is a hamlet in the Town of Bethlehem, in Albany County, New York, United States. It is a suburb of the neighboring city of Albany. The community is bisected by NY Route 443 (Delaware Avenue), a major thoroughfare, main street, and route to Albany.

A census-designated place (CDP) has been established since 1980 by the U.S. Census Bureau for tabulating the population of what the census has defined as the boundaries of the urbanized area in and around Delmar. The population was 8,292 at the 2000 census, but it was not included as a CDP in the 2010 census.

In 2005, CNN/Money Magazine named the Delmar ZIP Code (an area larger than the Delmar hamlet or CDP) as one of the “Best Places to Live” in America, rating it the 22nd best place to live among what it called “Great American Towns.

June 22, 2015 update

Good morning on this Monday morning. Talk about an exceptionally nice summer day. Warm, blue skies prevail on this summer morning without the drop of humidity. It really is a shame to be going into work on such a beautiful day.

Still can’t believe I got a 35×12.5 spare tire mounted under my truck. It is riding fine with plenty of space around the exhaust system and the differential. The only thing I can think of is they mounted the replacement hitch farther back when they did the body work last summer. At any rate, it’s pretty sweet. It will be better balanced for off-roading and not take up space in the bed.

Finally looking forward to some dirt roads in the Adirondacks. If the forecast improves for the weekend I hope to get up there. Probably go to Piseco Powley Road although I could go out to Schoharie County or White House as an alternative.

If not the following week is Independence Day Weekend. This year I will probably go to Moose River Plains rather than the Independence River Wild Forest as in previous years.

Camped out last night at my parents house. Nice night but the weather was sticky until late. The morning was quite nice though. Buggy out though. I guess that’s to be expected in the summer.

June 20, 2015 evening

Good evening. 64 degrees and rain this evening. Rain is expected to pick up during the night than stop by morning. Clearing mid to upper 70s with thunderstorms for Father’s Day.

Tomorrow is the first day of summer. The summer season seems to come and go quickly but still many good adventures ahead.
Bass season opener was today and spend some time fishing in the Hudson River. Not a great place for fishing but it’s close to home. Tommorow looking at fishing at Lawson Lake and maybe paddling too.

Have a good night. Sleep well with the rain on the roof.
