The Elm Avenue Park and Ride offers a convenient way to get downtown without the hassles of urban traffic. Located next to the Elm Avenue Park at the end of the Delmar Bypass (NY 32), it is serviced by several buses that will quickly transport you downtown.
There is a new, expanded schedule for the Elm Avenue Park and Ride. 5 morning buses depart there, 5 buses in the afternoon plus a mid-day bus schedule. Very convenient. http://www.cdta.org/uploads/Route719.pdf
These instructions for performing the basic 4-functions on a "Comptometer" type calculator are taken from the operating instructions of the Sumlock machine manufactured by the Bell Punch Company, though they can be applied to Comptometer-type machines in general.
"Once we begin to see our opponent as human being with human needs, real problem solving can begin. We can begin to look for ways to mitigate the fears and concerns that incite views we regard as hateful, racist, bigoted, and so forth. For example, Greg and Aron might be able to introduce Larry to minorities, leftists, and persons from diverse cultures and religions whose ways of being in the world disconfirm Larryβs expectations. Conversely, drawing upon his wartime experiences, Larry might be able to remind his interlocutors of the privileges they enjoy as citizens of a democratic nation.
We must always act forcefully to protect those who are harmed by bigotry and hate. However, we cannot eliminate hate through force or violence. We must talk to our enemies and seek to understand the pleas behind their positions. It does not diminish me to understand and even empathize with persons with whom I disagree β it actually increases the likelihood that we will be able to create some sort of common ground. I am diminished, however, when I reject the other without trying to make contact with their humanity β even when it appears that they are unable or unwilling to do the same. "

"Whereas, many species of birds in the course of their annual migrations traverse certain parts of the Dominion of Canada and the United States; and"
"Whereas, many of these species are of great value as a source of food or in destroying insects which are injurious to forests and forage plants on the public domain, as well as to agricultural crops, in both Canada and the United States, but are nevertheless in danger of extermination through lack of adequate protection during the nesting season or while on their way to and from their breeding grounds;"
"His Majesty the King of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland and of the British dominions beyond the seas, Emperor of India, and the United States of America, being desirous of saving from indiscriminate slaughter and of insuring the preservation of such migratory birds as are either useful to man or are harmless, have resolved to adopt some uniform system of protection which shall effectively accomplish such objects..."
In times like this, I miss our former president. He was such a calming voice, somebody who could talk with clarity and see both sides of the issue.
He would respect the rights of peaceful protesters, the right of Alt-Right to express their voice, and for those in opposition to speak too. He wouldn’t be picking sides, or trying to censor the opposition to his personal views.
I hope we can find somebody as smart, competent, and caring for our next president. I think President Obama will be eventually remembered as one of our country’s greatest presidents.
