Hamilton County is a county located in the U.S. state of New York. Its county seat is Lake Pleasant. It is one of only two counties that lie entirely within the Adirondack Park (Essex is the other). As of the 2010 census, the population was 4,836, making it the least populous county in New York. It is also the most sparsely populated county in the eastern half of the United States, with a population density of just over three people per square mile.
Hamilton County is in the north central part of the state, northwest of Albany. It lies entirely within Adirondack Park and consists mostly of publicly owned parkland. As the tourist folk will tell you, there is no permanent traffic light in the county.
The other day I bought some string cheese at Wally World. I hadn’t had string cheese in years, maybe because too many times as a kid it got kind of warm and the oils worked its way out of it. But I was reading that string cheese is just mozerella cheese and made from real milk and its actually a pretty delicious treat. I don’t like how it is individually wrapped in plastic but I figured I was going to have a fire so as long as I picked up the wrappers and made sure it got burnt it was fine.
This morning at 9:30 I was the first car at the Watch Hill Parking Area on this beautiful autumn morning. While I passed somebody walking their dog on Old Route 30, I haven’t seen another person. While I bet the Snowy Mountain parking lot is packed like much of the high peaks, I’m enjoying the solitude and beautiful views of Snowy Mountain and Lewey and Indian Lakes from this largely wilderness peak, that the state has put a lot of money into promoting and developing trails on but few people ever visit.

A nice day today but busy one. 💼 But I did get out for a nice walk 🚶🏻 and the leaves were quite pretty. Laying back in the hammock and eventually I’ll get a fire started 🔥 once it gets a bit darker.

I am thinking that I will get a pretty early start in the morning 🌄 and do some hiking before the crowds. I’m thinking about hiking up and over Watch Hill over Indian Lake. 🗻 I do expect it it will be crowded by midday but I’ll probably head back to camp relatively early.
