Next Saturday doesn’t look that good for getting out of town, but I might leave on Sunday then or maybe not at all. I have next week off, but I am in no obligation to head out of town. Time goes by so quickly. I am old enough to remember when it was still 2019. But in two and half weeks, we will be celebrating the double deuce, the year of twenty-two in the twenty first century with our muzzles on, at least if you go some public place indoors. Not sure how much it will stop the COVID, but it will give the socialists boners in their pants, knowing that they are morally superior.

Kind of a dark morning, but I’m up and going. 🌅 At some point the sun will rise and clouds will part. I have today, so I want to do some hiking, but first I want to stop by Tractor Supply in Glenmont or maybe in Rensselaer County and get some propane.
I am thinking about going out to Beebe Hill or maybe Taconic Trail to hike today. ⛽ I am going to need fuel before then though, and I don’t want to go too far from home. Maybe Grafton Lakes to the fire tower and some of the trails I have never done? I haven’t hiked there in a while. That’s an interesting option.
I need to wash my kitchen floor. 🧽 It’s so dirty these days. I keep telling myself I need to do that. Maybe after my trip. I did scrub down the counters and part of the bathrooms yesterday.
It really is cold in my apartment, ❄️ I really should turn up the heat.
I finally got the kitchen garbage out — I don’t think I’ve taken it out since I got back from November trip. With recycling and composting there really isn’t that many wrappers. But so much paper trash. That crate is getting full. 🔥 As they no longer have free paper recycling, ♻️ I am going to have to go up to the woods and turn it into CO2 with the rest of my burnables. At some point I’ll have to take the cans 🥫 to the transfer station, but probably not until later in the winter, when I can also recycle the accumulated plastic bottles.
Sometimes it looks nice out today and other times, just windy. I think I picked a good day though to take off tomorrow from work. Saturday looks so-so to start off my vacation slash week off, but I’ll take it day by day. Certainly doesn’t look like the mild weather is in a rush to break. I mean you can’t complain about this weather in December.

Taking a shower shortly, then I’m going to hike Bennett Hill. 🚶♀️ A nice sunny morning, but that wind is whipping around a bit. That makes it feel a bit cooler then it really is. The morning started out dark, but has gotten progressively brighter as the day progresses.
Yesterday, as expected, was a pretty quiet day. 🤖 Learned a few more things I could do with R, went down to the library for a while 📚 then came home and did a fairly early evening walk. The wind didn’t really pick up too much locally, although maybe I was sleeping and didn’t hear it 💤 as I was soundly asleep. I still go to bed early, and if I wake up during the night, it’s not a big deal, as I still get my hours of sleep in.
Then I’m going out to folks house for Sunday lunch, 🥪 then I’ll head home before dark. I don’t like driving in the dark on those rural roads if I can avoid it. Then I have to make plans for Monday, which I have off. And I’m still leaning towards hiking somewhere in Rensselaer County, and getting those German Christmas Cookies they have at Aldi’s. 🍪 I don’t normally cookies, but it is the holiday, and Aldi’s Christmas cookies are the freaking best.

Sunday heading out to folks house for Sunday lunch. 🍽 I might try to get up early and hike Bennett Hill or somewhere else in the morning for a good hike/walk. Last day of deer season, so I probably will stay out of State Forest and let people trying their luck get it done in peace.
Monday I’ll probably go somewhere locally, 🐦 but where to go is yet to be decided. It is going to be in the 50s and quite sunny ☀️. Maybe Papscanne Island in Rennselaer County, then I can hit up Aldis for some groceries and those wonderful German Christmas cookies they have. I also need to get cookie dough 🍪 as I have to bake cookies for that down-scaled Christmas Party we are having in the era of the COVID.
Tuesday is one of the days of Holiday Celebration Week at work, 🤶 which is replacing the work Christmas Party this year. I also have Ethics Training in the morning (lucky me), and then in the evening, I am getting both my TDAP and COVID booster. 💉 I will probably walk down to CVS, as it was a nice walk last week I tried to get my booster and they were out.
Wednesday is work from home, 💻 as part of the holiday spirit week, although with my hotspot, I can work from anywhere I please. 📱 I might go out somewhere fun, although I have to be careful as my laptop battery doesn’t hold much charge anymore, so it’s either work from home, the library, or the truck.
Starting next Saturday, 🏕I am off for a work through the Sunday after Christmas, and I’m not totally sure on my plans. Maybe a road trip somewhere — I might go out to Finger Lakes if it’s for a week, as the nice thing is Potamac Road is plowed, and I don’t need a camping permit to camp there for a full week. Plus the number of places available in other areas in the winter is limited due to snow and seasonal use only roads. The Adirondacks can be tough to camp for a week, as there just isn’t the stores like there is in Watkins Glen for shopping. Sure you got Charlie John’s but it’s expensive. Plus camping on NY 8 can be noisy with the traffic. But if it doesn’t look like there will be a full week of decent weather, then I might consider three nights up along East Branch in the Adirondacks, but it’s not my first choice. I figure I either use the vacation time or forfeit it on December 31st, as I can’t roll it over.
