Good morning! What day is it? A mild Hump Day, of course.
πΉπ»πΌOnly 4 days remain until the first day of calendar spring!πΉπ»πΌ
Sun β poking through the fog π« and 36 degrees in Delmar, NY. There is a west-northwest breeze at 5 mph. π.
Somewhat of a foggy π start to the day but already warming up β with temperatures expected to reach into upper fifties by afternoon.
I got down to the express bus stop π early and now I’m waiting for the bus to depart the station π so I can get downtown and do my walk before. I want to get in my steps before later so I can go to the store and wash my truck. Hopefully we are mostly done with the road salt now. π
I am also kind of low on a lot of miscellaneous groceries π§ although I certainly could mash things together if necessary as I bought extra last week but it’s a good day to wash my truck and I got paid yesterday so I have a few dollars π΅ in my wallet. Gas prices are starting to moderate a bit so I might put $30 in my truck to get through the rest of the month.
I’m glad that the rest of the week I don’t have to dress up for work π¨π»βπΌ as it means that I can get in my steps on the Plaza early in the morning, take the express bus π and walk at Washington Park π at lunch or maybe Lincoln Park. Saturday again doesn’t look good for getting many steps in but I might go to the library π. Lately I talk more about going to the library then actually going down there. I think I’m burnt out from those years working remote π»down at the library. That was a crazy time π€ͺ during the pandemic but I sure liked those days working remote from camp.
I was thinking that it was two years ago this week that remote work started with the pandemic. πΎ What crazy time, I wasn’t at all prepared not having internet at home. I couldn’t add data to my phone as I had bought data a year in advance. But especially on the warmer days it was nice working down at the library. π» The solar gain through the windshield was nice and warm. Summer was though hot working from the truck even with the shade and fan.
Well, the friendly strangers in the Black Sedans should plan on doing there thing early as rain is coming late π§οΈπ
Rain for the Ides of March, π Saint Patrick’s Day π and Saturday. β I don’t own a black sedan but maybe Wednesday looks like the best day for a car wash. Doesn’t seem like a good weekend to head out of town but with the muzzle mandate dropped maybe I’ll go to the library π. Or maybe I’ll end up having to work. who knows?!

Good morning! Such a dark morning for the Ides of March but some of that has to do with the time change and getting out a bit earlier for the morning walk π
πΉπ»πΌOnly 5 days remain until the first day of calendar spring!πΉπ»πΌ
Mostly cloudy and 33 degrees in Delmar, NY. β Calm wind. The skies will clear tomorrow around 4 am. Low fifties later, rain β expected late.
Probably the friendly strangers will need to use their headlights this morning so they don’t get into a fender bender with their black sedans filled with candy. π¬ Kind of dark and cold to start out the morning. π Some of it is just the clouds. I’m ready to believe that spring is just around the corner πΈ but then again I realize that live in Upstate NY. May is still a long ways off. The truth is that a month ago it was this dark each morning and only about then was there enough light for the walk. πΆ
I was pleasantly surprised when I was able to catch 5:15 local home yesterday. π I was sure it was going to be a late night π at work but that’s fine I was tired π΄. I keep going to bed π early and waking up early but I’m just always so exhausted this time of the year. I need some nights out in the wilderness βΊ to restore my sleep cycles.
It’s nice that the heat is off β¨ and I even opened a window for a few minutes but not quite warm enough to sleep with the windows open. It’s a warming trend though so maybe tomorrow when I go to work I can have my windows open.
Not sure if it makes sense to get groceries and wash my truck tonight with rain β expected. Tomorrow looks better. I was home early enough that I could have washed my truck π» yesterday and gone shopping π but I figured that was my plan for today originally and hopefully there will be less road salt on the roads tomorrow and less crowds at the big wash bay that fits my big jacked up truck. I also need to buy a few gallons of gasoline β½ so my truck doesn’t run out not that I’m driving much these days with the high cost of fuel.
Really need to get some wireless headphones π§ as I no longer have the ability apparently to use the headphones without tripping on them. Amazing how in a few years you just get used to not having a cord. π I use regular headphones with my laptop but for walking or on the bus Bluetooth is so much better. No wires!
It’s so much nicer going for my evening walk πΆ not in the pitch black. Mid winter in the cold it can be so difficult to do the evening walk. That’s why I started doing the morning walk – plus back when I was working from home it kind of broke up the day.
Nights do have to get a bit longer and things drier π before I can go to the park after work and read π or look at the birds π¦ and wildlife π°. It was easier last year with the remote work and being home at quitting time. Now I have to figure the commute into all of that. π
March has arrived at the cabin. These are the final days of winter and it's good to just enjoy your time in the north woods. Hang out with me today while I do a quick fix to the snow blower on the tractor and I'll show you what happened to my ATV. Then we'll get some wood in and throw something on the grill at the end of the day.
I tend to think that the snow will not be long for this world with the warm temperatures expected. I turned off the heat this morning, I figure it will be above freezing all week and mild in the evening with lots of sun β to warm the building. With inflation so high, interest rates so low, got to save money wherever possible. Plus if I’m cold in the early hours of the morning there is always the heated blanket. Maybe by Friday I can open the windows and have fresh air for a change.
