When the history books are written on weekend that was… π
I don’t think it will go down as the nicest fall weekend ever. But that’s fine my truck is broke down but should get repaired early next week and should hopefully be good for Columbus Day Weekend.
I’m not totally sure if I will go to Cazenovia or up north next week, depends on the leaves. I might wait for November for a Cazenovia trip, as I like sunny crisp November weekends a lot.

Gone to the grave yards of history it would seem. I was noting this morning we are 92 days until the first third of the decade is done and 2,650 days until 2030. Time goes by so quickly these days.
Partly sunny and 40 degrees in Delmar, NY. β Calm wind.
It’s a bit of a chilly morning to close out our September π but I like crisp weather. Beats sweating all the time though I still don’t like road salt, the ice or the wetness of the snow π¨. But hopefully that’s a few weeks away.
I don’t have my heat on β¨οΈ but it looks like from the smoke they have turned the heaters on at the High School πΈ and they are roaring away. I did close my upstairs windows to trap in the heat but left downstairs open for ventilation.
I often think I don’t take time seriously enough β³ but I’m also well aware of the compounding nature of things and the benefits of delayed gratification. Things will be better tomorrow. I just no good things will come for those who wait but 2030 seems like such a far point off. But I still want to own my own land, have the many things I’ve delayed for so many years. And not in New York where my golden goose lives.
How fast those days go by. It will be 2023 before you know it. Next weekend is the long Columbus Day Weekend. Fall seems late this year but colors will pop with the cold expected tonight.
Mostly cloudy and 53 degrees in Delmar, NY. β There is a northwest breeze at 6 mph. π. The dew point is 47 degrees. The skies will clear around 8 am.
Out early for the morning walk πΆ as thats the best way to get the steps in π£ and this week I’ve been right on track. Not a half had morning today.
Based on the past few maps πΊ I’ve been making, I think I’m really starting to master how to make attractive, easy to read maps in R. But I keep learning, studying the documentation and code. ggplot2 maps just tend to be a lot less cluttered with sensible defaults compared to what standard GIS programs can do. I also have been learning new techniques to deal with big datasets like using Apache Arrow and dbplyr which let’s you query a database with dplyr. Not against writing SQL but it is more error prone than dplyr.
At the same time I keep watching videos about buying land and homesteading. π It won’t happen tomorrow or even next year but I’m hopeful for a strong economic recovery over the next ten years and my ability to work hard make money π΅ and save. I feel like the world is falling apart and I must do what is right for me and protect myself from the growing government military and industrial complex. πΊ I am glad I’ve not been brain π§ washed by owning a television or having home internet. I don’t stream.
Next few days will be sunny and the cloudy for the weekend β
Fairly typical for what you would expect in late September and even early October. Hoping for better weather come October to enjoy the autumn colors but it is always hard to tell and I’m usually busy with work most weekends lately. But maybe I can work remotely.
Today. Feels like …
October 7th.
A slight chance of showers between 11am and 3pm. Partly sunny.
Calm wind becoming northwest 5 to 7 mph in the morning. Chance of precipitation is 20%.
Good morning! What day is it? Hump Day, of course. π«
The day with the fast let down as they say about camels. There are probably reasons Americans prefer Holsteins to camels.
Partly cloudy and 52 degrees in Delmar, NY. β Calm wind. The dew point is 50 degrees. The skies will clear around 9 am.
Out for the morning walk πΆ and it’s still pretty dark and gray though getting bright now. The early walk makes it a lot easier to get my steps π£ in especially if I don’t have time to walk at lunch and get steps in. And unlike closer to 7:30 traffic is still fairly light.
Yesterday was busy but also not that busy. π’ Seemed like for a few minutes things calmed down. Been doing a lot of research into Apache Arrow and Spark for working with large datasets while minimizing the amount of memory and cpu time to process such things. π₯
Since it’s gotten cooler starting to see ππ more color pop up which I am sure will be here for a short time before it’s gone. Like do many things in this world it seems. Heading into your forties is so wonderful and awful at the same time.
That said assuming decent weather β Columbus Day Weekend should be nice once my truck is fixed. π§Gas prices have started to come back down locally β½ which should make traveling more affordable. I like the longer nights and I’m an early riser. π I might take a week off in November, the location to be decided. I do want to get to Caz at some point and Rennselearville State Forest is an easy choice in the off season.
