Delmar, New York

Delmar is a hamlet in the Town of Bethlehem, in Albany County, New York, United States. It is a suburb of the neighboring city of Albany. The community is bisected by NY Route 443 (Delaware Avenue), a major thoroughfare, main street, and route to Albany.

A census-designated place (CDP) has been established since 1980 by the U.S. Census Bureau for tabulating the population of what the census has defined as the boundaries of the urbanized area in and around Delmar. The population was 8,292 at the 2000 census, but it was not included as a CDP in the 2010 census.

In 2005, CNN/Money Magazine named the Delmar ZIP Code (an area larger than the Delmar hamlet or CDP) as one of the “Best Places to Live” in America, rating it the 22nd best place to live among what it called “Great American Towns.

Good morning! Happy Coldest Day Ever Recorded in Albany 💨 !

That would be January 12, 1968 when it was negative 26 degrees in Albany, coldest day ever recorded! Interestingly enough, the latest climate normals show the coldest week of the year has shifted a week later. And much warmer than that today. UPDATE – My friend Hugh says that actually January 18, 1971 was colder, 28 below zero.

Partly sunny and 17 degrees at the CDTA Bus Stop #10595. There is a south breeze at 14 mph. 🍃. The current wind chill is 3. There is a dusting of snow on the ground. ☃ Things will start to thaw out at tomorrow around 10 am. 🌡️

Today should make a run at the freezing mark, ☀ which will make the black ice fun for the evening walk 🚶. I did get out for my evening walk, though not until after slipping on the black ice running to the store to get milk 🥛. I hit my knee 😵and it hurt like a mother but I was fine by the time I went for my evening walk. The town side walks weren’t bad, it just was where I was walking in the parking lot. Didn’t rip my pants AFAIK.

My evening walk was pretty good, 🚶‍♀️ I am glad I got some steps in, although not the 10,000 steps I go for more nice nights. I probably should have walked on Monday, I was bad and didn’t do that.
