Much of Colonie Center was a Golf Course before it was developed, and the area to north along Wolf Road was farm fields and woods.

November 21, 2019 Morning

Good morning! Happy Thursday. Next Thursday is Thanksgiving 🦃. Can you believe that already? Before you know it will be 2020. Partly sunny and 33 degrees at the Elm Ave Park & Ride. Nice change after the cold and wet lately although there are definitely some patches of black ice around. Shouldn’t last though and it’s not going to get below freezing tonight. Calm wind. Temperatures will drop below freezing at tomorrow around 8 pm. β˜ƒοΈ

Had a bit of trouble getting going this and almost to late to walk down to the express bus 🚍 but I made it. Had to fiddle with the shower 🚿 a bit to keep it from dripping. At least my truck is home, the maintenance preformed and I’m good with state inspection through the end of November 2020.

Today will be mostly sunny 🌞, with a high of 44 degrees at 1pm. Two degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical day around November 24th. North wind around 5 mph becoming calm in the morning. A year ago, we had cloudy skies in the morning, which became mostly clear by afternoon. The high last year was 40 degrees. The record high of 70 was set in 1931. .8 inches of snow fell back in 1937.❄

The sun will set at 4:28 pm with dusk around 4:59 pm, which is 43 seconds earlier than yesterday. 🌇 At sunset, look for partly clear skies 🌄 and temperatures around 40 degrees. There will be a calm wind. Today will have 9 hours and 34 minutes of daytime, an increase of one minute and 56 seconds over yesterday.

Tonight will have a chance of rain, mainly after midnight. Mostly cloudy 🌧, with a low of 38 degrees at 6pm. Eight degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical night around October 22nd. South wind 5 to 10 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph. Easy on the heating bills. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible. In 2018, we had mostly clear skies in the evening, which became mostly clear by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 8 degrees. The record low of 9 occurred back in 1969.

Right now, a split verdict on the weekend. πŸ˜• Saturday, sunny, with a high near 42. West wind around 7 mph becoming southwest in the afternoon. Sunday, rain likely, mainly before 1pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 41. Chance of precipitation is 70%. Typical average high for the weekend is 45 degrees.

I am definitely leaning towards heading to the Adirondacks this weekend β›Ί as I’m not sure about the track for the potential Thanksgiving Day storm that could leave enough snow to make camping difficult. I hear it’s going to be a fairly cold and snow winter based on Hugh Johnson’s predictions 🔮 during the Pine Bush Dinner. He thinks that the cold blob predicted over the mid west is likely to move further east at least at times.

Looking ahead, there are 2 weeks until Repeal of Prohibition Day 🍺 when the sun will be setting at 4:22 pm with dusk at 4:53 pm. On that day in 2018, we had cloudy, mild, rain showers and temperatures between 53 and 39 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 40 degrees. We hit a record high of 65 back in 2001.
