Boreas Pond Tract 📍

The state of New York is purchasing 69,000 acres of the former Finch Pruyn and other Nature Conservancy lands throughout the Adirondacks. Nearly 22,000 acres of this purchase is the spectacular Boreas Ponds Tract. The main attraction of this property is the scenic Boreas Ponds with amazing views of the high peaks. The Boreas Ponds Tract property borders the High Peaks Wilderness, Dix Mountain Wilderness and Vanderwhacker Mountain Wild Forest. The property may become a popular hiking trailhead to reach the high peaks from the south.

I admit I could have driven all the way back to LeBeir Flow, this time of year with the gates open - but with the road unfamiliar and icy in parts - I didn't want to risk my big jacked up truck slipping off the road.
