December 19, 2018 9 AM Update

Good morning! What day is it? Hump Day, of course. Next Wednesday is Boxing Day πŸ₯Š.Β  Hot fire, big pile of Christmas boxes gone to carbon dioxide. This morning is mostly sunny and 22 degrees in Delmar. Calm wind. A bit cold, but sunny. There is a dusting of snow on the ground. β˜ƒ Things will start to thaw out at around 11 am. 🌑️

Walked down to the express bus, which wasn’t a bad walk although the sun was in my eyes and I had to hurry a bit as I wasn’t running real early but I made it there in plenty of time. 🚌 Cold but clear. It was an easy and quick bus ride heading downtown, not too much traffic. I like how the bus turns around at the bus ramp in the plaza now, as it makes for a quick and ease route in most days with the express.πŸš„

Today will be mostly sunny 🌞, with a high of 38 degrees at 2pm. Three degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical day around December 10th. South wind 3 to 5 mph. A year ago, we had with more clouds in the afternoon. The high last year was 53 degrees. The record high of 54 was set in 1895. 7.8 inches of snow fell back in 2008.❄

The sun will set at 4:24 pm with dusk around 4:56 pm, which is 25 seconds later than yesterday. πŸŒ‡ At sunset, look for partly cloudy skies πŸŒƒ and temperatures around 36 degrees. There will be a south-southeast breeze at 5 mph. Almost tailgate drinking weather, although I don’t have a drop of alcohol at home, because I don’t drink much anymore. Today will have 9 hours and 3 minutes of daytime, a decrease of 9 seconds over yesterday.

Tonight will be mostly clear πŸŒƒ, with a low of 23 degrees at 6am. Three degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical night around December 12th. South wind around 5 mph becoming calm in the evening. In 2017, we had light rain in the evening, remaining overcast into the early morning. It got down to 30 degrees. The record low of -19 occurred back in 1951.

Yesterday was kind of a cold evening, so I ended up staying home after work, finishing a book I was reading that evening and playing too much with my phone on Facebook. Amazingly, since I upgraded to the Facebook Lite App, it seems like I use less and less data these days. πŸ“± Plus my phone plan keeps increasing the amount of high-speed data each month, it’s now up to 10 GB for $45 a month, or actually less because I buy six months at time and get a volume discount. Not having Internet at home, I still use a fair bit of data, maybe 5-6 GB a month.

Been researching new dress shoes for work. I am going to need them come January for work, πŸ‘ž and I think this year I will look at ordering them from Zappos or another online site, as I’ve heard you can get much better prices for quality shoes then at a place like SuperShoes or JC Penny. At some point I’ll also need more dress shirts too, but unfortunately Sears is no more. I guess I could see if I could order them online,πŸ‘• although in times past they’ve given me trouble with getting free or even affordable shipping, because each color ships from a different warehouse and doesn’t count towards the free shipping total.

As previously noted, next Wednesday is Boxing Day πŸ₯Š when the sun will be setting at 4:28 pm with dusk at 5:00 pm. On that day in 2017, we had mostly sunny, snow showers and temperatures between 22 and 8 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 33 degrees. We hit a record high of 59 back in 1895.
