December 16, 2018 Morning

Good morning! Happy Sunday. Next Sunday is Festivus 🍖. Cloudy and around freezing n Delmar. ☁ Calm wind. It should be a few degrees above freezing before the rain pushes in this morning in Albany area but the outlying areas may get snow. I’m glad I decided to home yesterday. I don’t like winter driving.

Today will have a chance of rain and snow between 10am and 1pm, then rain and sleet likely after 1pm. Cloudy ☁ , with a high of 36 degrees at 3pm. 💦 I think we will dodge the bullet here but the outlying areas will get icy. Temperature wise, typical for today. Calm wind becoming north 5 to 7 mph in the morning. Chance of precipitation is 60%. Little or no ice accumulation expected. Total daytime snow and sleet accumulation of less than a half inch possible. A year ago, we had partly cloudy skies with more clouds in the afternoon. The high last year was 31 degrees. The record high of 55 was set in 1971. 9.5 inches of snow fell back in 1981.❄

I was originally planning on going out to my parents house today for their Christmas Decorating Party 🎄with my niece but that’s been canceled with the weather. Instead, I’ll probably go to the laundromat and then the grocery store for a few supplies for the week and wash the mud off my truck before parking it for the week. Maybe later on head down to the library and post some pictures and videos from my trip then come home and get things ready for the work week.

The sun will set at 4:23 pm with dusk around 4:55 pm, which is 18 seconds later than yesterday. 🌇 In a month, that will be 25 minutes later. At sunset, look for rain 🌧 and temperatures around 35 degrees. There will be a north breeze at 7 mph. Today will have 9 hours and 3 minutes of daytime, a decrease of 23 seconds over yesterday. Only a few more days of days getting shorter.

Tonight will rain, snow, and sleet likely before 1am, then a chance of snow and freezing rain between 1am and 4am, then a chance of rain and snow after 4am. Cloudy ☁, with a low of 30 degrees at 6am. Nine degrees above normal, which is similiar to a typical night around November 23rd. North wind 6 to 9 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. Little or no ice accumulation expected. New snow and sleet accumulation of less than one inch possible. In 2017, we had partly cloudy skies, clearing in the early hours of the next day. It got down to 8 degrees. The record low of -8 occurred back in 1942.

My hands are a bit cracked and sore from the cold over the past week 👏although I assume that the hand lotion is helping. I would have used more while camping but the lotion was kind of frozen. Likewise, still working on getting shaved well as the peach fuzz isn’t coming off well as I didn’t shave much while camping as the shaving cream froze. Winter camping is fun.

I’m kind of glad to be back to work tomorrow. Office life is routine, 💻 the bus takes me back and forth to work. It’s kind of an easy life, means that I can save and work for a better tomorrow. 🎉I still find it hard to believe 2019 is just around the corner. Next weekend is a four day weekend with Christmas as is the following weekend,🎁 giving me lots of time to do things at home or persue other adventures once we get some fresh snow. 🏂

As previously noted, next Sunday is Festivus 🍖 when the sun will be setting at 4:26 pm with dusk at 4:58 pm. Enjoy your meatloaf and feats of strength. On that day in 2017, we had rain, drizzle, freezing rain, freezing drizzle, mist, cloudy skies and temperatures between 36 and 25 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 33 degrees. We hit a record high of 64 back in 1990.
