December 13, 2019 Night
Good evening! If you can read this 📖 you will you’ve survived Friday the 13th, last one of the decade. Heavy rain and 37 degrees in Delmar, NY. β Really can hear it in the roof. 🏡 Calm wind. There are 3 inches of snow on the ground. β οΈTemperatures will drop below freezing at Sunday around 5 pm. βοΈ Mild weather is good for the heating bills. 💵 And the snow melting away quickly.
Today was the holiday party at work 🎄 and it was fun to see some of the old colleagues there. I got to go home early which was nice too although by the time I got home it was raining β but my neighbor wasn’t home so I could ride the exercise bike 🚲 and burn off some calories. That was a pretty wild run from the bus station 🚉 under the Plaza to my office 🏢 a mild away but at least I was able to clock in on time. 🕒
Tonight will rain. 🌧 Low of 37 degrees, warming up into the forties later. 13 degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical night around November 3rd. Light and variable wind becoming north around 6 mph after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible. In 2018, we had cloudy skies in the evening, which became partly cloudy by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 32 degrees. The record low of -5 occurred back in 1898.
I’m glad we are getting some mild weather. β¨It was kind of cold earlier in the month and my heating and electric bill was $83 but to be fair I did have the heat turned up a bit higher than I have in the past. I doubt this month will be much higher but it depends how cold it gets. The $50 a month bills are going away for a while but I’m not burning much gas being that I’m not planning much road trips over the winter. β½ My budget is always so tight with my desire to save and invest for a better tomorrow. 💸
Tonight will have a Waning Gibbous Moon 🌖 with 89% illuminated. The moon will set at 9:31 am. The Last Quarter Moon is on Tuesday night with mostly cloudy skies. The sun will rise at 7:16 am with the first light at 6:44 am, which is 47 seconds later than yesterday. 🌄 Tonight will have 14 hours and 55 minutes of darkness, an increase of 38 seconds over last night.
Tomorrow will rain. 🌧 High of 44 degrees at 1pm. 10 degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical day around November 21st. North wind around 6 mph becoming light and variable in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible. A year ago, we had light snow in the morning, which became cloudy by afternoon. The high last year was 45 degrees. The record high of 63 was set in 1901. 12.5 inches of snow fell back in 1956.β
In four weeks on January 10 the sun will be setting at 4:41 pm,🌄 which is 18 minutes and 46 seconds later then tonight. In 2019 on that day, we had snow showers, partly sunny and temperatures between 32 and 24 degrees. Typically, you have temperatures between 30 and 14 degrees. The record high of 55 degrees was set back in 2016
So yeah, Christmas will come and go 🎄 and the harshest weather of the year will be upon us. But so be it. I’m hoping for mild weather for my end of the decade camping trip into the New Year. If it works out 🎉should be a great way to ring 🔔 in the New Year.
