Dashboard Cameras

I’ve been thinking about getting a dashboard camera for my truck again. Not so much in case of a crash but for capturing the scenery along the road. They are certainly pretty inexpensive these days for a pretty high quality video.

I was thinking I could capture things like when I visit a National Park or Forest or pass a scenic vista along the road. There are so many places that would be great for a picture, but no place to stop along narrow roads with no breakdown lane.Β It would be fun to capture parts of the Blue Ridge Parkway should I go later this year.Β I wasn’t sure about the quality of pictures, but from what I’ve seen from Youtube, I’m impressed even with the budget cameras.

And it would give peace of mind if I ever got in a crash as I’d have a record of what really happened or be able to record a near misses. If I got pulled over, I would also have a recording of what was said to law enforcement.

The picture quality of even the most basic dashboard cameras is really quite impressive I have to say. I think I could make some nice YouTube videos from them. That said, I want to make sure I get a quality model that is reliable. I don’t want to waste my money. My spending limit is around $100 but there are a lot of interesting options out there. I don’t really need advanced options like GPS or a G-Force sensor, as you can look at the video to know where on the road you are. I have a spare 12 volt outlet from the accessory Β battery that could power it, including when I’m parked and running into the store.

Well it’s something for me to consider further.Β
