Daily Update – June 4, 2022

Good evening! Made it to summer. πŸ–

I tell you, the past 100 hours or so have been a living hell, with just work and sleep deprivation kicking in so badly by this morning. I finally got to get to bed a little after 8 AM after being up for 23 hours, and got several hours of sleep today, although I don’t want to sleep all afternoon as my hope is to get to bed by 9 PM or so and try to get back to normal sleep schedule.

Mostly sunny and 78 degrees at the Delmar, NY. 😎 Breezy, ️16 mph breeze from the west-northwest 🌬 . The dew point is 44 degrees.

After getting home and sleeping for five hours or so πŸ›Œ I woke up and literally felt my head was exploding. 🀯 It was a wicked headache from all the severe sleep deprivation and hours worked, but this afternoon I feel like I am recovering from all those hours worked. πŸ’Š And of course I couldn’t find any aspirin to address it. Maybe I could have gotten a few minutes of sleep eye at my desk last night, but I was afraid I would miss a phone call or email dozing off at the desk. 😴

To describe how sick I felt for a while 😫 really is hard to put in words. But after getting some more sleep, taking a cold shower 🚿 as my water heater is still off, as I shut it off during the heat wave earlier in the week — and having a good lunch, I am feeling a lot better now. The sleep deprivation when it caught up hit so hard, I though for a while I was going to die or had actually done something really bad for my health. But I think that’s behind me.

I am heading out to Five Rivers now for an evening walk, 🐦 and will hang out there until maybe 7:30 PM or so and then hike along Meads Lane and then back home, trying to make up for some of the steps missed over the past week 🚢‍♀️It is such a beautiful day, and I hate to waste a weekend sleeping and feeling dead πŸ’€ but it was such a rough week at work — get to work at nine each day, get home at 11:30 PM, 12:30 PM, 3:30 AM and 8:30 AM either the next day or close to it. I am sure I now have a ton of comp time that helps.

I ended up catching the bus home each evening and driving in πŸ…ΏοΈ as I didn’t want to have to figure out the whole Uber thing and never knew how later I would be in the office, although each night it was long past the last bus of the night. 🚌 I was able to give one of my colleagues who lives in Delmar a ride back home each night, which having someone else in the truck helped keep me awake on my drive home. Just having somebody in the car when your driving drowsy can keep you in the lane and noticing the colors of the traffic lights. 🚦

I seriously thought about just taking the bus home this morning, but the nearest bus to Delmar would have been Morton Avenue, due to the routes being re-routed during the Women’s Run Downtown. πŸƒ‍♀️ I was able to find unrestricted parking on Dove Street, although by the time I left in the morning, the street was closed, so I ended up having to make a three-point turn, drive around the barricade, then sneak down through Sheridan Avenue to get home. Plus for a while, I was thinking it would be a relatively quick night with session, ending around midnight or possibly earlier.
