Daily Update – July 17, 2022

Good morning! Happy Sunday. πŸ˜…

With the heat and humidity expected today, it’s going to be a hot one.

Partly sunny β˜€ and 62 degrees in Delmar, NY. Calm wind. The dew point is 62 degrees. A lot of haze this morning with the humidity though it’s helping to keep things a bit cooler to start out the day.

Out for my morning walk 🚢 around 6:30 before it gets really hot. 😰 After breakfast I will head to Walmart and I need to get an apartment key πŸ— made as I broke my one the other day.

Yesterday I took the Nature Bus 🚍 out to Thatcher Park 🏞. It was a nice day with a good breeze. I like the Nature Bus not just because it’s free but also it puts you on a set schedule, otherwise I know I would end up not getting such an early start. I go wish I had stayed until the last bus at 6:20 though that’s kind of a long day. Hiked the Bear Trail and the loop around back, then read πŸ“– for a couple of hours.

Got the laptop battery πŸ”‹ I ordered in the mail and had it installed in ten minutes. It’s good as the old battery wasn’t holding any charge and would shut off as soon as unplugged. The replacement was only $20 for a generic battery, as I wasn’t going to get an OEM battery as my laptop is nearly seven years old now and quite beat up. πŸ’»

Been working on processing weather data 🌀️ in R studio for making maps – specifically maps of current temperature and dew point using raster interpolation and extraction. Seems silly but there is a lot of useful projects I can do with the technique in R.

Heading out to the parents house for Sunday dinner later. 🍽️ Kind of a hot and sticky day but maybe later this evening I’ll hike Bennett Hill to get my steps πŸ‘£ in for the day.

Summer vacation is a week and a half away. πŸ– Should be a nice, quiet trip once you I get my truck repaired on Friday. πŸ›  I don’t plan a very adventurous vacation, although at least gas prices β›½ have backed down somewhat in recent weeks. I want to leave early on that Friday. Looking forward to getting away.
