I was hoping to get over to the Pine Hollow Arboretum while it was still bright and sunny this morning, but I kind of slept in after waking up during the middle of the night after that evening toke put me to sleep fairly early. I needed to get some sleep after the long stressful second half of the week with various late nights and craziness.
Well maybe if it’s cloudy out ðĨïļ there will be fewer crowds at the arboretum, ðŠūðē ðļ and more soletude to be found. I know I can’t wait too long as rain is coming by mid-day but whatever. I wanted to have my coffee â first and some blueberry ðŦ pancakes. I discovered how good they are with the added lime juice ðâðĐ that I put in them accidentally put in them.
Still a bit ticked off about the bedliner covering the bed frame bolts ðĐ and especially the gooseneck mounting bolts, but the more I research that it doesn’t matter and it’s good protection for the bolts from damage. I am getting a truck cap put on there in a few weeks, so it doesn’t matter, I wouldn’t be able to use a gooseneck trailer regardless unless I had the big heavy fiberglass cap removed. And I don’t have any real plans for that. I thought I was clear with my question to the shop on Friday, ðŠ but I admit I was flustered after traffic and not having a phone ðą working. And ultimately it worked out fine, I was able to ride down to the BusPlus Station, partially on the sidewalks, and was into a work a little after 9 AM. Called the phone company up, they reset my phone, and it’s working great now. ð Traffic though int he evening was a bitch on Central Avenue, as they had multiple lanes blocked due to replacing of a traffic ðĶ signal. Friday at 4 PM seems like an awful time to be doing signal repairs.
After I got my truck back, ðŧ somewhat pissed, I wanted to ride at Madison Avenue Barrens but it was closed off due a controlled burn ðĨ they had in that section earlier inth e day. Ended up heading over to Pine Hurst Road and riding the loop trail there. It was a werid time of the day with the sun âïļ kind of bright and glarey and I was cranky so I rode for maybe 45 minutes, snapped a few photos ðļ and headed back to the truck. Drove over the now abandoned Visting Nurse Association Building, as I want to see how realistic it was to build a road back to 24 Karner, which the developer is proposing to dedicate to the preserve, if only they get their high-rise apartments off New Karner Road in Pine Bush. ðĶ There’s a pretty big dune at end of Visiting Nurse Driveway, so I don’t think that’s likely. There was a cop ðŪââïļ sitting up there in the patrol car, so I did not stick around, I just drove to the top and turned around, and being observed, I quietly turned around and came from where I was coming. It’s not posted but I think that road might be private property, so I figured best not to dilly dally here.
Then I went over to Prospect Hill Cementary to see what I could see of 24 Karner. ðĶ This was clearly public land, and no cops eagerly watching to see me trespassing, so I drove up to the upper end of the cementary ðŠĶ, parked and walked around for maybe a half hour or so, seeing what I could both of that other parcel, observing the nice big bearded wild turkeys ðĶ and the various monuments. Really beautiful place to explore on a spring day, though the trees and terrain blocked many of the views of 24 Karner. Still I enjoyed my walk, ðķââïļ and also played with a bit of the hill descent control on my SuperDuty truck. Headed home via Foundry Road and past the State Police Rifle Range, ðŦ and then thought about swinging by Black Creek Marsh but decided I had enough ticks on me for one week, ð and I just was cranky and tired. Got home, had some dinner, just cold rice and lentils and blueberries, smoked some weed ðŪâðĻ sitting in my truck bed, enjoying the nice textured bed, and then went to sleep fairly early. ðïļ
This weekend I plan to head to Pine Hollow Arboretum ðļ today, then read more of William Danko’s the Millionaire Next Door, and maybe if the rain holds off pull the Upfitter’s Box on SuperDuty just to start to explore the wiring harness to familiarize myself with me. Still need to get a trim puller so I can access the panel both in the center for mounting the CB Radio ðŧ and to access the pull through and secondary engine idle control wires, but I figure I can do that tomorrow if I go to Wally World to shop at the end of day. Thinking also tomorrow of doing a drive out to Partridge Run, ðļ to see how the SuperDuty handles on the rural roads and get a better idea of gas milage and how it climbs the hills. ðŧ Finished up listening to Jeff Gunnin’s The Vegabonds: The Story of the Great Adventures of Henry Ford, Thomas Edison and Harvey Firestone. It was a good read. I haven’t decided if I will ride trail or what I will do exactly at Partridge Run – I could ride up along the Switz Kill or maybe the more up country and check out the observation platform from Henry Hill. I don’t know, I have different options. ðē Then go out see the family ð§âð§ for Sunday dinner ð―ïļ and then I might do a quick hike at Holt Preserve and go over to Wally World ðŠ and get some supplies and groceries. Should be a good weekend, then back to work Monday, as I wait for the truck cap to arrive.
