Good MORNING! What day is it? A rather foggy Hump Day, of course. Next Wednesday the Altamont Fair Opens π‘. Foggy, cloudy and 71 degrees in Delmar. β Calm wind. The dew point is 70 degrees. Definitely still humid. The skies will clear tomorrow around 11 am.
It was a quick trot down there but I made the express bus downtown. π It’s a much nicer ride taking the express in plus I get in a mile walk and are in the office nice and early as lately the days have been long. Quick commute in there, not much traffic this morning heading into the city.
Today will have a slight chance of showers, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 11am. Some of the storms could produce heavy rain. Patchy fog before 9am. Otherwise, mostly cloudy β , with a high of 84 degrees at 2pm. Two degrees above normal. Maximum dew point of 73 at 5pm. Calm wind becoming south around 5 mph in the afternoon. Kind of like yesterday, quite honestly. Chance of precipitation is 50%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms. A year ago, we had mostly cloudy skies with some clearing in the afternoon. The high last year was 80 degrees. The record high of 95 was set in 1983.
ThoseΒ thunderstorms we got yesterday where quite impressive,Β βΒ with sheets of rain and some good sized lighting bolts. My bus home was running about 11 minutes late due to the trees that were knocked down along Delaware Avenue. Those were some big trees,Β πΒ and they took the porch off one of houses along the way. Seems like Albany is getting hit by a lot of severe weather lately, I guess it’s good that the landlord has removed a lot of the trees from this yard.
The sun will set at 8:06 pm with dusk around 8:37 pm, which is one minute and 20 seconds earlier than yesterday. π At sunset, look for Β thunderstorms βand 77 degrees. The dew point will be 73 degrees. There will be a southwest breeze at 6 mph. Today will have 14 hours and 10 minutes of daytime, an increase of 2 minutes and 24 seconds over yesterday.
Tonight will have a chance of showers and thunderstorms. Some of the storms could produce heavy rain. Mostly cloudy β , with a low of 69 degrees at 5am. Eight degrees above normal. Maximum dew point of 73 at 6pm. Southwest wind 3 to 6 mph. Chance of precipitation is 50%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms. In 2017, we had mostly clear skies. It got down to 53 degrees. The record low of 46 occurred back in 1989.
Toilets been fixed in my apartment. I’m hoping for no more plumbing problems for a while now. New unit is smaller so it’s a bit hard to sit on but at least it works reliably.Β π½Β But at least hopefully I won’t have any plumbing problems in my apartment for a while now as the shower, sink, and toilet have all been repaired in the past five years.
Yesterday was another long day at work, π» but I decided I had made enough progress that I could leave at six. I got home went to the car wash, bought some supplies had a beer then retired to bed. I was in bed by 9:30 PM as I was dog tired.π΄ It’s tough getting back into the routine, especially when you come back and are just swamped at work.
I amΒ increasingly thinking about staying in town this weekend, as it looks like the weekend will be increasingly unstable and cloudy.Β βΒ I am well aware of the fact that summer is running out of time,Β πΒ and the nights are getting longer, but there is still time in future weeks for future adventures. While my camping gear is mostly put away, I am not sure if I am ready to get packed and going on Thursday evening to leave on Friday after work.
As previously noted, next Wednesday the Altamont Fair Opens π‘ when the sun will be setting at 7:56 pm with dusk at 8:26 pm. On that day in 2017, we had rain, mostly cloudy skies and temperatures between 79 and 64 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 81 degrees. We hit a record high of 96 back in 1959.
