August 30, 2018 Night
Good evening! Partly clear and 66 degrees in Delmar. There is a north breeze at 7 mph. 🍃. The dew point is 57 degrees. Finally some nice weather when I can get caught up on my sleep. The truck is mostly packed, gased up, β½ fluids topped off, kayak on the roof, etc. I think it will be a nice weekend up at Moose River Plains. 🌲🚣
Tonight will be partly cloudy β, with a low of 59 degrees at 6am. Two degrees above normal. Maximum dew point of 58 at 11pm. North wind around 7 mph. No fan tonight, I should be able to listen to a podcast and sleep well. In 2017, we had mostly clear skies. It got down to 51 degrees. The record low of 37 occurred back in 1965.
Tonight will have a Waning Gibbous Moon 🌖 with 79% illuminated. The moon will set at 11:17 am. The Last Quarter Moon is on Saturday night with partly cloudy skies. The Harvest Moon 🌝 is on Sunday, September 23rd. The sun will rise at 6:19 am with the first light at 5:50 am, which is one minute and 4 seconds later than yesterday. 🌄 Tonight will have 10 hours and 47 minutes of darkness, an increase of 2 minutes and 45 seconds over last night.
Tomorrow will be partly sunny 🌞 , with a high of 72 degrees at 3pm. Six degrees below normal. Maximum dew point of 64 at 5pm. North wind around 6 mph becoming southeast in the afternoon. A year ago, we had mostly sunny skies. The high last year was 74 degrees. The record high of 93 was set in 1953.
This looks to be a pretty nice Labor Day Weekend. Saturday, a slight chance of showers before 2pm. Partly sunny, with a high near 79. South wind 5 to 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%. Maximum dew point of 66 at 7pm. Sunday, a chance of showers and thunderstorms. Partly sunny, with a high near 84. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms. Maximum dew point of 72 at 3pm. Typical average high for the weekend is 77 degrees. A bit humid but reasonable with a threat of showers. But I’ll take it. Won’t be as warm up north for sure.
It should be a great final summer camping trip. βΊ Hopefully very relaxing. I’m looking forward to exploring Cedar River Flow, and some nice nights camping up in the Plains. Going to make pizza one night and hopefully do a night hike back to Ice house Pond one night. 🐸
It’s the final camping trip until November, although depending where I’m stationed for work I might get another night out in the wilderness.🌲We will see. I will still hike and explore, enjoy autumn regardless and look forward to my big November trip. 🍂I may be a novice hunter but I really enjoy November in the woods. Best time of the year for camping in my book.
In four weeks on September 27 the sun will be setting at 6:43 pm,🌄 which is 49 minutes and 21 seconds earlier then tonight. In 2017 on that day, we had rain, shallow fog, patches of fog, mist, mostly sunny skies and temperatures between 89 and 64 degrees. Typically, you have temperatures between 68 and 47 degrees. The record high of 89 degrees was set back in 2017.
I figured out an easy way to control my Raspberry Pi 3 when I don’t have a monitor handy for downloading programs and the alike at the library or similar places. All I had to do was wire up an ethernet cable between the laptop and the Raspberry Pi, 💻then enable ssh and configure the ad hoc network and I can secure shell into the Pi and run even graphical programs using the x server over ssh. Works great! Does exactly what I need it to do.
I voted by absentee📮 and are happy with my choices for the primary. π Voting is such a weird thing – people mail you, contact you by phone and at the door, spend so much effort, and then you just check a few boxes on a sheet of paper, stick it in the mail or ballot box and then it’s over. Such an anti climatic end to so much debating and work. 📬
Looking ahead, State Primary Day 🗳οΈ is in 2 weeks, November 🥧 is in 9 weeks and Thanksgiving 🦃 is in 12 weeks.
💤After getting such crappy sleep with the past few nights of heat I think it’s time for lights out. Good night! 💤
