August 29, 2016 8 AM Update
Even though we got to say goodbye to the summer, it should be a nice week. Increasing sunshine today and low humidity. Eighty-three. Cool for the second half of the week and nice for the weekend. Wednesday is the first day of September. Most of the remaining beaches which havenβt closed yet, will be done come Labor Day next Monday.
Where did summer go so quickly?
I’m recovering from my sunburn and I found my sunscreen. It fell out of my bag at home. At least I should have a good tan to conclude the summer. This weekend I’m thinking of wilderness tent camping in Schoharie County and spending final summer days at the side of the Mine Kill Pool. I could go to Moose River Plains but I need to do my oil change and other things on Saturday morning. Plus I don’t want to deal with the congested expressways. Cheap gas means there are a lot more drunk, angry, texting motorists on the expressway.
It was a nice weekend and I finally got the pictures off my camera and will upload them as the week progresses. It didn’t quite turn out as expected but by no means was it a disaster. I was very disappointed with the Speculator Village Beach and leaving the sunscreen home meant my skin a bit crispy.
I need to get my hunting license and this week. I’ll just walk down to the DEC licensing bureau downtown. They’re slow and marginally competent but they’ll hopefully get it done. I’ll bring the number six shot with me out to Schoharie County. It will be fun up in the wilderness this weekend.
