August 13, 2018 Morning
Good morning! Monday’s come back around again. Three weeks to Labor Day 👨β🏭. Summer is really running on fumes, the Altamont Fair is this week and historical average high temperature drops to 79 on Friday.📉 As they say, it’s all down hill from now.
Cloudy, humid and 70 degrees in Delmar. β There is a north-northeast breeze at 5 mph. 🍃. The dew point is 66 degrees. The skies will clear Wednesday around 9 am. Maybe, lol!
Talk about a dark and gray start to week. 😪 I guess you can’t control the weather but you can control your attitude. I ended staying at my parents house last night, laying in the hammock until after eleven, mostly watching stupid YouTube videos about agriculture, 🐄 off grid living and electronics. Electricity is a fascinating beast. 🔌
Today will have a chance of showers, with thunderstorms also possible after 11am. Some of the storms could produce heavy rain. Cloudy β , with a high of 78 degrees at 2pm. Three degrees below normal. Maximum dew point of 70 at 4pm. East wind around 5 mph. Chance of precipitation is 50%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms. A year ago, we had mostly cloudy skies. It was somewhat humid. The high last year was 82 degrees. The record high of 98 was set in 1947.
The sun will set at 7:59 pm with dusk around 8:29 pm, which is one minute and 26 seconds earlier than yesterday. 🌇 At sunset, look for clouds β and thunderstorms β‘ and 75 degrees. The dew point will be 70 degrees. There will be a east-northeast breeze at 5 mph. Today will have 13 hours and 58 minutes of daytime, an increase of 2 minutes and 30 seconds over yesterday.
Tonight will have showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm. Some of the storms could produce heavy rain. Cloudy β , with a low of 69 degrees at 4am. Nine degrees above normal. Maximum dew point of 70 at 6pm. East wind around 5 mph becoming calm in the evening. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible. In 2017, we had mostly cloudy skies. It got down to 57 degrees. The record low of 44 occurred back in 1941.
On this day in 1969, The Apollo 11 astronauts are released from a three-week quarantine to enjoy a ticker tape parade in New York City that evening,🚀 at a state dinner in Los Angeles, they are awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom by U.S. President Richard Nixon. Next year, the space age will be a half century ago and this year marks 45 years since the last time man and womankind bothered to walk on the moon. 🌕
With this dark morning, I was thinking about building a warm white fixture controlled by an Arduino over my bed, π‘ to provide even more light for waking up on those dull and dark mornings of November and December. I am thinking it would both have a switch and have a timer to turn on at 6:53 each morning and off at 10:30 each night to ensure I’m getting the proper amount of sleep. I would use full spectrum white LED lighting, probably 5050 SMD chips.
As previously noted, there are 3 weeks until Labor Day 👨β🏭 when the sun will be setting at 7:25 pm with dusk at 7:54 pm. On that day in 2017, we had rain, drizzle, heavy fog, shallow fog, patches of fog, mist, cloudy skies and temperatures between 58 and 51 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 77 degrees. We hit a record high of 100 back in 1953.
