August 1, 2016 Evening

Good evening! It’s a Monday and the first of the month. After vacation. Today was the crawl gear of the week. Maybe a tractor gear, hooked up to a 5.13 axle ratio. Cloudy and 73 degrees in Albany, NY. There is a east breeze at 5 mph. The dew point is 67 degrees.

Tonight will have a chance of showers and thunderstorms. Cloudy, with a low of 66 degrees at 3am. Three degrees above normal. East wind 3 to 5 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms. Maximum dew point of 67 at 6pm. The record low of 45 occurred back in 1976.

A fairly nice weekend coming up with seasonable temperatures. Saturday, a chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly sunny, with a high near 84. Chance of precipitation is 30%. Maximum dew point of 69 at 6am. Sunday, mostly sunny, with a high near 81. Maximum dew point of 60 at 6am. Typical average high for the weekend is 82 degrees.

I’m generally satisfied with that forecast although Saturday will be quite humid. I still will think seriously about getting out of town this weekend. Not sure at this point where I will go but somewhere fun. Probably not a lot of hiking with that humidity though.

In four weeks on August 29 the sun will be setting at 7:32 pm, which is 41 minutes earlier then today. The average high is 78 degrees, and the record for that date is 95 degrees was set back in 1953. At that point, we will have seen the high summer come and gone, with much earlier sunsets, and somewhat declining temperatures. September is when the full push towards fall gets underway with the Moose Festival occurring the fourth  week of September and Moose  River Plains in peak color by around September 25th.
