April 8, 2018 Morning
Good morning! Happy Sunday. Five weeks to Mothers Day 👩β. That’s the tulip festival week. I’m hopeful for spring. Mostly sunny and 25 degrees in Delmar, NY. There is a northwest breeze at 5 mph.β A very cold, a bit not record breaking cold, morning by April standards.
Today will be mostly sunny 🌞, with a high of 41 degrees at 3pm. 14 degrees below normal. Northwest wind 5 to 13 mph. A year ago, we had cloudy skies with some clearing in the afternoon. The high last year was 50 degrees. Cold last year. The record high of 88 was set in 1929. 4.5 inches of snow fell back in 1907.β
The sun will set at 7:30 pm with dusk around 7:58 pm, which is one minute and 8 seconds later than yesterday. 🌇 At sunset, look for partly clear skies and 37 degrees. There will be a west-northwest breeze at 14 mph. Today will have 13 hours and 5 minutes of daytime, an increase of 2 minutes and 49 seconds over yesterday.
Tonight will be mostly clear 🌞, with a low of 20 degrees at 5am. 15 degrees below normal. Northwest wind 5 to 13 mph. In 2017, we had mostly clear skies. It got down to 27 degrees. The record low of 16 occurred back in 1977.
Last night I ported over my scripts and plug-ins🔌 over to QGIS 3.0. Had some issues figuring out how to implement a few functions using the the new API but with some experimentation and creativity I got them working.🐞 Most of the improvements to the api make a lot of sense and are actually simpler than before.
I am working on a bunch of new maps for the blog. I plan to post many new and improved maps now that I have the latest version of QGIS installed, 🌐 so I can take advantage of the software’s latest advantages.
Today I will probably go out hiking, after doing some grocery shopping. 🍒 Kind of cold and sunny for fishing🎣, and I think my license is expired or soon to expire. I’ll have to get an updated one this week. I’ll do some cleaning to do around my apartment.
Looking ahead, there are 5 weeks until Mothers Day 👩β when the sun will be setting at 8:09 pm with dusk at 8:41 pm. On that day in 2017, we had rain, mist, cloudy skies and temperatures between 55 and 47 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 69 degrees. We hit a record high of 86 back in 2004.
