April 27, 2020 Night
Good evening! Light rain and 42 degrees in Delmar, NY. β There is a north breeze at 11 mph. π. Been a lot of clouds and drizzle but I’m not sure if it’s enough to break the rain deficit we’ve been having lately.
Today was a pretty quiet day working from home. π» Honestly not a lot going on but I ran some reports on the work computer and there was no Monday meeting today. I spent too much time on my bed reading π random articles about Coronavirus and what people think might happen in various what if scenarios. I think it’s good states are experimenting and that will hopefully give us a better idea π‘ on how soon life can return to some kind of normalcy.
I went out for my evening πΆ in the rain. It was modestly wet but not that bad. I just needed to stretch my legs and my exercise bike has a broken foot pedal so I’ve not been able to ride that. π² I should figure out if I can somehow fix the stripped threads. Tomorrow though I should be able spend most of the day outside and maybe do some hiking for a while at Five Rivers after work – or maybe an evening hike up Bennett Hill.
Continuing to work on figuring out what tent πͺ would be best for using over my picnic table for camping during black fly season. That said with so many things closed that weekend I might be better to plan a three day trip either the weekend before or after to avoid crowding. I’m sure with campgrounds closed through June 1st more will pile into the back country. But I haven’t taken any time off from work in weeks so I think I certainly could take a long weekend or two during May, remembering a lot of “developed” camping areas for camping in Central NY are closed. Assorted back country sites aren’t but they’re fewer in Central NY. βΊ Honestly what looked quite nice for the first weekend of May is starting to slide down hill and
Tonight will have showers likely, mainly before midnight. Mostly cloudy π§, with a low of 35 degrees at 5am. Seven degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical night around April 10th. North wind 7 to 11 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible. In 2019, we had clear skies in the evening, which became light rain by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 40 degrees. The record low of 25 occurred back in 1947.
Tonight will have a Waxing Crescent π Moon with 22% illuminated. At 8 PM, the moon was in the west (260Β°) at an altitude of 47Β° from the horizon, some 239,308 miles away from where you are looking up from the earth. π At the state speed limit of 55 mph, you’ll make it there by October 26th. Buckle up for safety! πΊ The Flower π· Moon is on Thursday, May 7. The darkest hour is at 12:54 am, followed by dawn at 5:25 am, and sun starting to rise at 5:56 am in the east-northeast (70Β°) and last for 3 minutes and 5 seconds. Sunrise is one minute and 27 seconds earlier than yesterday. π The golden hour ends at 6:34 am with sun in the east-northeast (77Β°). Tonight will have 10 hours and one minute of darkness, a decrease of 2 minutes and 33 seconds over last night.
Tomorrow will be mostly sunny π, with a high of 61 degrees at 4pm. Three degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical day around April 22nd. North wind around 6 mph. Maybe a few degrees below normal but at least sunny and not cold. A year ago, we had sunny skies in the morning with sunny skies in the afternoon. The high last year was 51 degrees. The record high of 92 was set in 1990. There was a dusting of snow in 1966.β
Definitely want to spend as much time as possible outside tomorrow whether sitting out back or down at Five Rivers working. β Depending on how busy I am, I could go down to the Hudson River with a fishing pole and my work laptop and work there. Watch the big boats go up the river. π’ Probably nice and green down there too and there’s that preserve to explore down that way.
In four weeks on May 25 the sun will be setting in the west-northwest (300Β°) at 8:20 pm,π which is 29 minutes and 31 seconds later then tonight. In 2019 on that day, we had mostly sunny skies with patches of fog in the morning and temperatures between 73 and 46 degrees. Typically, you have temperatures between 72 and 50 degrees. The record high of 94 degrees was set back in 1981.
Looking ahead, 8 PM Sunset π is in 1 week, Flower Moon π is in 3 weeks, Memorial Day πΊπΈ is in 4 weeks, June πΉ is in 5 weeks and Average High is 80 π is in 8 weeks.
πΊπΈπ¦ Only 25 days remain until the start of Memorial Day Weekend!π¦ πΊπΈ
