April 17, 2020 Morning
Good morning! Yeah, it’s Friday! βΊ Looking forward to the weekend. Two weeks to May π. Sunny and 33 degrees in Delmar, NY. β There is a west-southwest breeze at 5 mph. π.
Cold enough this morning I wish I had the heat on. β¨ It’s still mid April so it will warm up by midday but get cloudy. β I’m fully expecting to wake up to snow tomorrow morning at camp but it will be gone by midday as it’s going to be the mid 40s by midday Saturday and 50s on Sunday with lots of sun. β Looking forward to getting away for a few days.
Today will have a slight chance of snow showers before 8am. Increasing clouds π¦, with a high of 50 degrees at 4pm. Nine degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical day around March 29th. West wind 5 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%. A year ago, we had mostly sunny skies in the morning with a few breaks of sun the afternoon. The high last year was 62 degrees. The record high of 91 was set in 2002. 0.3 inches of snow fell back in 1965.β
Solar noon π is at 12:55 pm with sun having an altitude of 58.1Β° from the due south horizon (-12.7Β° vs. 6/21). A six foot person will cast a 3.7 foot shadow today compared to 2.2 feet on the first day of summer. The golden hour π starts at 7:02 pm with the sun in the west (279Β°). πΈ The sunset is in the west-northwest (286Β°) with the sun dropping below the horizon at 7:40 pm after setting for 3 minutes with dusk around 8:09 pm, which is one minute and 8 seconds later than yesterday. π The best time to look at the stars is after 8:45 pm. At sunset, look for rain π§ and temperatures around 43 degrees. There will be a west-southwest breeze at 7 mph. Today will have 13 hours and 30 minutes of daytime, an increase of 2 minutes and 44 seconds over yesterday.
I am going to try to leave fairly early β to avoid snow squalls on my trip as I don’t want to deal with winter dropping snow on the roads and have to drive through all that crap plus have time to gather dry wood for the fire π₯.
Tonight will rain likely before 10pm, then rain and snow likely between 10pm and 11pm, then snow after 11pm. π§ Low of 32 degrees at 4am. Six degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical night around April 2nd. Southwest wind around 6 mph becoming light and variable in the evening. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New snow accumulation of 2 to 4 inches possible. Less snow north. I doubt there will be much on the roads but maybe salt. I’m happy that the car wash is open. π In 2019, we had partly cloudy skies in the evening, which became cloudy by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 46 degrees. The record low of 21 occurred back in 1948.
Tomorrow will rain and snow before 11am, then a chance of rain between 11am and 2pm. π§ High of 47 degrees at 4pm. 11 degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical day around March 27th.
