April 13, 2019 Afternoon

Good afternoon! Mostly cloudy and 77 degrees in Westerlo.πŸŒ₯ There is a west-southwest breeze at 14 mph. πŸƒ. The dew point is 41 degrees. Warm and dry.

I got the brake switch installed in the truck, and the cruise control is working again.πŸš— It wasn’t too hard, the worse part was getting the bolt back in, which I had to fiddle around a bit, because the first time I tried I didn’t have the pressure clip lined up properly. The clip came off easily, as did the sensor. I could have ordered the same part online from Amazon for half the price — but I’m not complaining about a $25 fix to my truck, that took all of a half hour to do — repositing the clip and getting the bolt tightened back up was the only real challenging part.

I am a big fan of cruise control as it’s the best way to control your speed on the open road. You reach the speed limit of in rolling country a few miles below it and you hit a button and it locks πŸ›… you at a legal speed. No need to constantly monitor your speed. It was annoying when the cruise stopped working in the cold, it was even worse now that it’s warmed up and I’m traveling more. I probably have the cruise control on 90% of the time while I drive, especially in speed zones.

I got to the transfer station today, β™» returned all my cans and bottles for recycling. so now they are out of the back of my truck. I replaced the light strip that was failing in the truck cap, with a bright, modern new one. After five years several segments of the LEDs had failed and the waterproofing was yellowing, greatly reducing the output. I do need to get some more super glue, not the runny type to tack it on in a few more locations. Now I should have plenty of light in my truck cap, and it’s free of bottles and cans.

This evening is Sunday dinner at the folks house πŸ” some good burgers on the grill. Should be good.

Tonight will be partly cloudy 🌀, with a low of 42 degrees at 5am. Five degrees above normal, which is similiar to a typical night around April 28th. Northwest wind 6 to 13 mph. In 2018, we had mostly clear in the evening, which became cloudy by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 28 degrees. The record low of 19 occurred back in 1973.

The sun will set at 7:35 pm with dusk around 8:04 pm, which is one minute and 8 seconds later than yesterday. πŸŒ‡ At sunset, look for mostly clear skies πŸŒ„ and temperatures around 63 degrees. There will be a west breeze at 11 mph. Today will have 13 hours and 18 minutes of daytime, an increase of 2 minutes and 46 seconds over yesterday.

Tomorrow will have showers likely, mainly after 4pm. Mostly cloudy 🌦, with a high of 57 degrees at 3pm. One degrees below normal, which is similiar to a typical day around April 12th. Calm wind becoming east around 5 mph in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible. A year ago, we had cloudy. The high last year was 49 degrees. The record high of 83 was set in 1968. 1.4 inches of snow fell back in 1950.❄

I haven’t decided if tomorrow I’ll start packing my camping gear β›Ί again or wait until I get glue to fix the LED tape so I don’t spill glue everywhere. πŸ’‘ But I do think I’ll get that packed sometime this week. I’m not sure if I’m heading out of town next weekend, I might instead do that hike up Platte Kill Clove sometime during the Easter Weekend 🐰.

As previously noted, there are 2 weeks until Arbor Day 🌳 when the sun will be setting at 7:51 pm with dusk at 8:21 pm. That might be the weekend I go to camp. On that day in 2018, we had rain showers, cold conditions, partly cloudy and temperatures between 50 and 36 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 63 degrees. We hit a record high of 91 back in 1962.
