Good morning! Monday’s come back around again. Listening to Harry Nielson’s Everybody Talkin from the soundtrack of Midnight Cowboy. 🤠 I was listening to that song and singing it as I drove through Medusa on the way back from the Catskills. 🎶 Everytime I drive through the hick town 🚜 I grew up in I feel a lot like Rip Van Winkle. Next Monday is Autumn 🍂. It’s coming and it already cooled off a lot from summer although the weekend should be quite warm. 😎

After a rainy and cloudy night it’s gotten pretty nice out in and it should be nice week. Partly cloudy and 62 degrees in Delmar, NY. ⛅ There is a north-northeast breeze at 5 mph. 🍃. The dew point is 51 degrees.

Today will be mostly sunny 🌞, with a high of 75 degrees at 4pm. Three degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical day around September 10th. Maximum dew point of 54 at 11am. North wind around 6 mph. A year ago, we had mostly sunny skies. It was humid. The high last year was 89 degrees. The record high of 92 was set in 1939.

I kind of wish I could take a long weekend but I have the Pine Bush Hike Saturday and Ethics Training on Monday monrning. But I plan on going up to the Adirondacks for at least Saturday night and spend some time at the potholers. 🏊 I might also swing by Moss Island to explore on the way up there after the Pine Bush Hike.🌲

It was a nice hike up Windham High Peak, ⛰ not too long of a hike, and when I was up there mid-day, not a lot of crowds. But still a good leg stretcher, as I work to build up stamina for hiking down in West Virginia in a few weeks. Didn’t have to get up real early or do much, good hike for a Saturday afternoon. I thought about also doing Burnt Knob, but that’s a lot of up and down between the peaks, so I decided to just hang out on the mountain longer.

Yesterday, while I was hiking Windham High Peak, I was thinking it would be fun to another winter camping trip this winter. ❄ Maybe take a long weekend to head out to the Finger Lakes in mid-February? I liked camping in the Finger Lakes National Forest last December, because many of the roads are plowed, you can stay more then 3 nights without a permit, and the gorges are pretty in the winter.

As previously noted, next Monday is Autumn 🍂 when the sun will be setting at 6:51 pm with dusk at 7:19 pm. On that day in 2018, we had partly sunny, patches of fog and temperatures between 66 and 45 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 69 degrees. We hit a record high of 97 back in 1895.
