A nuclear disaster βš›οΈ

I’m increasingly worried about a nuclear melt down or a nuclear bomb explosion. I think it will be particularly bad as the president and his appointees will down play it while others will call out his lies while exaggerating the threat to the extreme and lead to an over reaction in many cases while the scientists who actually could measure and analyze the impacts and give science based answers are all fired from the government or muzzled.

Glad the ice is melting from the rail trail 🧊

I really do not like riding on all that ice and snow on the rail trail as it makes for a rough surface. Apparently while Albany County has tons of money for artwork and cameras along the trail, plowing is not in the budget. But soon it should be good, especially if we get half or more an inch of rain tomorrow and temperatures are in the 50s.

I wanted to be in the office by 8 AM today both so I could get reports run and build up some comp time for work. 🏒 Truth is with all the new initiatives I’ve been working on I am always swamped at work. πŸ’» Always new things to move forward, new data to obtain and enhance. Busy, busy, busy.

Blueberry pancakes this morning. πŸ₯ž Homemade as always using whole-wheat flour, oatmeal, milk, egg, some stevia and baking powder. Truth is now that I’ve gotten into only eating whole-wheat flour, the idea of white flour kind of abhors me. I like my food to have a lot of flavor and texture. I forgot to get carrots while shopping yesterday, so no carrots in the pancakes this morning.

It is getting nicer riding in as bike trail has less and less snow. 🚴 I just don’t like the rough ice. It beats the heck out of my bike, my lunch and I’ve not been bringing my laptop with me πŸ’» as I don’t want that to get that beat too. Most things I can do on my state computer, but I like my laptop for listening to music and checking my personal email. Now I’m just waiting for less cold so I can start spending weekends up in wilderness. πŸ•

"Albany Steam Power Station first began operations in 1952 as a coal-fired station and was converted to oil in 1970. It was further modified in 1981 for natural gas and became a 400MW oil and natural gas-fired power plant. The BEC has cut emissions of smog-causing nitrogen oxide by 90%, and reduced sulphur dioxide emissions by 94%. The BEC generates 50% less waste heat than the Albany Steam Station and has reduced air emissions by at least 95%."

"The New York State Board on Electric Generation Siting and the Environment (Siting Board) has announced approval of plans to make hardware and software changes at the Bethlehem Energy Center in Glenmont that are designed to help improve the plant’s energy efficiency. The petition was submitted by the plant’s owner, PSEG Power New York LLC. The approved changes will allow for the replacement of certain components of the three combustion turbines and certain changes to related software programs. The equipment being replaced are components of the combustion turbines themselves. According to the Siting Board, the upgrades will result in very little, if any, impact on the environment or the surrounding community, and will not result in any increase in air emissions from the facility."
