I didn't make it to the Gas Up but I was right by it as I came back from the Adirondacks
Taken on Saturday July 3, 2021 at Schoharie County.Debar Mountain Trail (3,305 feet) extends 3.7 miles and ascends 1,725 feet from the trailhead within Meacham Lake Campground to the summit of the mountain. The trail ascends only 170 feet in the first 1.9 miles and ascends 755 feet in the next 1.3 miles. The last portion of the trail is steep, climbing 800 feet in the 0.5 mile to the summit. A lean-to is located along the trail just before the last steep section to the summit. Views at the top are limited by the trees growing on the summit but include the High Peaks to the south. When the campground is open, hikers are required to pay a day-use fee.
Stunningly beautiful morning, not too humid with blue skies. Got to bed at a reasonable hour last night and actually slept in a big late this morning, had some good carrot pancakes before heading into the office on my bike.
Feeling great after a good nights sleep. I wasn’t sure if I could catch the Presidential debate last night without a television or cable, but it was on Youtube so I could stream it to my phone, though it did put me to sleep as I was tired. But I did catch enough of the somewhat at times cringe-worthy debate, not helped by the fact that the incumbent president kind of got lost in a word salad. Apparently he was quite sick, but he should have called in sick and postponed the debate until he was healthier.
Went out to the Bender Mellon Preserve for a while in the evening, just a quiet walk around some of the fields and trails. I was very tired in the evening. I’ve just been kind of fried and frazzled from the week that was. It’s tough to switch back to work mode, after that great long weekend up in the Adirondacks.
The previous night I stayed up too late working on a document explaining on how to use R Statisical Language to my colleagues at work. Truth is I don’t how many people will end up using it, and I put a of work into it but it would be nice if others could help with some of the data work. I concede much of the work is a bit technical though.
Maybe it was just me trying to escape from reality though, and very much wishful thinking that others could help more with the work load. R programming is a hell of a lot easier then C, there is no memory to manage and libraries simplify things a lot. But we’ll see.
Yesterday, to make matters worse, I was late to work as bucket truck had rolled over on to the power lines on Erie Bouelvard and I had to detour over Water Street then Orange and then up Broadway to work. It wasn’t the worse thing ever but I was a bit late for work. It sure was bright with the power line burning, first thing in the morning and a bit tricky with the traffic lights being out and cars speeding by the shut-off light like it wasn’t even there.
