Thousands of NYC buildings still burn dirty fuels, as owners struggle with looming ban – Gothamist
And with that May 2023 comes to a close… πΆ π
Was Team Andy and Ari the worse at NYS Assembly karaoke last night? It’s debatable but the competition was fierce with Carl, Nily and other professional quite clearly more talented. But I’m also not sure I was the absolute worst with our rendition of Wagon Wheel, which actually was a Bob Dylan song before Darrius Rucker took it up.
Good morning and goodbye May. πΈ Onwards to June come tomorrow. But first a nice sunny day. This morning is sunny with wildfire smoke around β and a temperature about 54 degrees on our way up to 86 degrees later.
I’m out walking πΆ a little later then usual as it was a kind of a late night by the time I got home and in bed. The picnic was a lot of fun, I was able to stay away mostly from the unhealthy stuff π mostly by going for the salad and greens and a small portion of chicken π and lots of water π¦ and watermelon. The open bar and sugar cookies πͺ were tempting π but I stayed away by just eating a lot of watermelon and drinking water.
Looking at 86 degrees in Delmar later on β but Canadian Wildfire smoke may keep the skies hazy. Again fairly low humidity but things remain quite green though I noticed that the grass at my parents house is starting to dry out. I think the best chance for rain β in the immediate future is on Saturday which is unfortunate. Sunset π is in 13 ½ hours at 8:26 pm.
With my sluggish rise this morning π I’m not sure if I’ll have time to cook the beans π that I started soaking on Monday but they need to be drained and maybe partially ciokedbefore work. Or I could catch the later local in but I have to be in fairly early to send out the committee agenda.
Got to the doctor yesterday π§βοΈand it seems like all the numbers π’ look good. I am pretty sure I weighted in at 209 on the scale at the doctor and if that’s true that’s quite remarkable. It means I’ve lost over 10% of my weight, maybe more as I didn’t have a before and after. Probably closer to 20-25% if you go back before I started counting steps and boosting my walk program. Cholesterol and blood pressure looks good, I’m sure my reduction in salt has helped with that cutting out processed foods. π²
They wanted my to be in Clifton Park this morning at 7:45 am for a calcium in my blood vessels test due to my family πͺ history of heart issues ♥ but I couldn’t face the drive after knowing what would he a late night with the work picnic π§Ί and potentially a late night π tonight. I can’t imagine dealing with the rush hour traffic without coffee β which you can’t have before the test. The next scheduled appointment is in November in Albany and they wanted $50 out of pocket as it’s not covered under my insurance so after agreeing to it decided to decline. I don’t know what the test could show, I’d rather just focus on exercise and limiting saturated fats, especially Omega 6 and salt. If I was obese or had high cholesterol or the test was covered at my age I’d be more willing to get tested. Preferably in Albany and not Clifton Park driving π Big Red in traffic without coffee β on a quiet non session day.
Tonight we are looking at a low of 56 degrees under clear skies. π Should be a very pleasant evening for sitting out back. I thought it was going be a long night for work this evening but having talked to one of the coordinators, apparently there is another big reception tonight π§π»πΌ so it seems like once again I’ll be home fairly early, so I can get out walking πΆ down to the park π and keep up my steps.
I got to the store yesterday after the event and got more tomatoes π , peppers π« and spring onions π§ top make up for what I eat over the weekend. I also got some Accent MSG, which really does make all food taste a little like dorritoes. MSG has a bad name but it’s because it makes food taste so good regardless if it’s junk food like corn chips or broccoli π₯¦. It gives a good salty but sweet flavor without the calories and most importantly the sodium which raises blood pressure.
Tomorrow we are looking at a warm day, π sunny, with a high near 89. Calm wind becoming north around 6 mph in the morning. Tomorrow night, mostly clear, with a low around 61. Light and variable wind becoming west around 5 mph.
Looking ahead to the weekend, π¦ things have slid down hill, especially come Saturday. A chance of showers. Partly sunny, with a high near 73. Chance of precipitation is 30%. But on Sunday, mostly sunny, with a high near 74. Not sure if I am going to get out of town this weekend with the latest forecast.
