Good morning! What day is it? Cruising through August Day, of course. β
83 days until the polls close on the mid-term elections says the newsman. I haven’t checked that to be sure but I don’t see any reason to believe that he is lying to me. I already made my choice between the Rar and the Tonk.
Rain showers and 62 degrees in Delmar, NY. β Calm wind. The dew point is 59 degrees. The skies will clear tomorrow around 10 am.
No early morning walk due to the rain πΆ but I’m hoping to do some steps on the Plaza this morning before work. I have a busy day ahead with meetings but at least I am getting sort of caught up on the queue that built up while I was on vacation. π
Had more work that I brought down to the library π₯ and worked out the picnic table they now have out front. I’m glad I replaced the battery π in my laptop a few months back not only because it was a fire hazard as it was running hot and had expanded but because I’d not always want to be tied to a plug π. Especially in the autumn when hybrid work from the woods is more of a possibility.
Upgraded my laptop to Ubuntu 22.04 last night π¨π» and so far things have gone fairly flawlessly, bar a few random broken packages and other things I needed to fix. Linux these days is pretty good, but sometimes you just need to delete a file or tweak something, to ensure smooth sailing. β΅ Some of my GIS packages, being that I was running ubuntugis-unstable didn’t upgrade smoothly without some manual upgrades, as did Python require some manual reinstalls of packages. But in general I’m happy with the upgrade, though I don’t like how certain things have changed.
I was a bit surprised by the rain this morning π§although it really didn’t add much or end the fairly dry summer we’ve been having so far. Maybe it washed a little bit of the dust and mud off my truck but I have my doubts. The rain has pulled up the humidity and since last night things have been remarkably sticky.
I am thinking π about taking a personal day on Friday as I have a lot of miscellaneous things to get done and I want to head up to Piseco-Powley Road one last time this year before things are too busy. πβοΈ Going to be hot but nice weekend to spend at the Potholers I’m thinking.
