The red-wing black birds seem to think spring has already arrived although come tomorrow it will certainly feel that way. Also got a robin and nut hatches around, and it looks a starling too looking out my window. After such a cold and snowy Saturday, and a long winter Iโm ready for a bunch of 50 and 60 degree days โ an early preview of April into late April. With no freezing temperatures and a lot of sun, I might even turn the heat off come tomorrow, but Iโm not sure if Iโm ready to open windows yet.
As there is only two session days this week, I should be able to get home at a reasonable hour every day but Monday. Dusk isnโt until 7:30 now, and it despite the later sunrise, itโs actually not that late.

I know thatโs a pretty meaningless phrase but at least on the Tiktok you can watch all the videos of the cows getting let out to pasture and grazing down south. But we will still be in the frozen tundra up north, although this week doesnโt look that bad.
Sunny and 20 degrees in Delmar, NY. There is a west-northwest breeze at 14 mph. with gusts up to 25 mph . The current wind chill is 7. There are 6 inches of snow on the ground. ๏ธThings will start to thaw out at tomorrow around 9 am probably for the bulk of the week and kill off most of the snow.
Decided to set my alarm for six am and have breakfast at the normal time and go for my morning walk like I do most weekdays. I didnโt want to break my habit of being an early riser with the time change. Plus tomorrow is going to be quite mild and I want to go out for a walk tomorrow before I go to work as I expect a late night at work.
Traffic is basically non existent at seven oโclock on a Sunday morning. The air is so nice and crisp, the skies are a deep blue. Itโs cold but lacks the bite of a true winterโs day. Red winged black birds are back in mass. The sun has gotten the birds up and awake, even if it is cold.
I cleaned off my truck, and now just waiting for the sun to clean it up. I used my landlords shovel to clean off around my truck, I still havenโt gotten a new snow shovel. But I have a feeling this is the last snowstorm of the winter, and it wasnโt that significant. Guarantees a late March or April blizzard, but I big jacked up truck with a drinking problem, that I can break through the snow bank with. Or that little camp shovel I used to bury shit and dig through the fire pit for any unburnt garbage to recycle.
I plan to go to Five Rivers later to go skiing. I could go out to Partridge Run or somewhere farther away but Iโm not willing to put gas in my truck. Gas prices have come down a bit the past few days, but Iโm in no rush to fuel up or burn gas before I need to. Summer is coming, and Iโd rather save the fuel for times when I can be floating down that lazy river in my tube, drinking cheap beer and maybe eating clams. I was going to go skiing yesterday, but it was so cold with that wind, so I decided to stay home and inside where itโs at least somewhat warm. I did use the space heater more yesterday then I probably should have, but I probably will turn off the heat before work tomorrow for the rest of the week. If itโs cold, Iโll have my heated blanket.
I am just there will be that additional time in the evening as I felt that walking home from the express was a bit dangerous at rush hour in the dark plus I found it hard to get out for my evening walk even at seven oโclock in the cold and dark. Plus if there is a nice weekend it makes it easier to get out of town, assuming gas is still somewhat affordable.
This week I want to try to get to the car wash again, I know itโs winter and itโs tough, and get groceries. I might have to breakdown and get fuel. The last time I put gas in my truck, fuel was still around $3.70 a gallon. Remember those good olโ days. I donโt use that much gas in the winter, but I still like to go out to the folks house on Sunday and get groceries once a week. Come nicer weather though, Iโll just have to hold my nose and gas โer up I guess. And take advantage of the free bus out to Thacher Park once that restarts up out in June.
