While I’ve written python on and off for like five years now, I’ve only recently discovered that PANDAS and Jupyter as the best thing ever. 🐼

How I did not know about the best thing ever until a few weeks ago amazes me, but I was stuck in the dinosaur age still doing everything with spreadsheets, pivot tables and going to websites, manually downloading data like they did it back in the stone ages.

And it’s not like I’m that much of a python newbie, I’ve been written many small QGIS plugins using Python and Qt for years now.

Good Evening – August 5, 2021

Good evening! I don’t know about you but I will sure be glad when the Cuomo death watch is over and the news cameras leave Albany. πŸ“Ί

I hate having to hide from the cameras when I go for a, walk at lunch time 🚢🏻 as it seems like every spot around the Capitol and the Empire Plaza are filled with bored reporters πŸ’€ just waiting for the news we have a new governor.

I really like the idea of chopping the balls ⚽ off all future governors, although I guess that will be less of a problem with the almost certain to be new governor in a few days. Most politicians are beyond needing to have children, and steers are far better behaved than bulls.

Bridge πŸŒ‰ to Delmar is open again. Not sure what the issue was with the morning commute, didn’t see a fire, maybe there was a crash or something. I got into the office 🏒 a few minutes late but it wasn’t a big deal.

Mostly cloudy and 79 degrees in Bethlehem, NY. β›… There is a north breeze at 5 mph. πŸƒ. The dew point is 61 degrees. Kind of a hot and gray summer day like so many are of late.

I was surprised that they had a big event at the town park 🏞 yesterday, but I found somewhere quiet to read but it sure gets dark early now. πŸ“– Really no reading after 8:30 PM outside without extra light at this point. I might go down there tonight as I figure it’s more likely to quiet tonight.

I decided against taking off Monday, in favor of taking off Thursday and Friday next week πŸŠπŸ»β€β™‚οΈ and heading up to Piseco Powley Road. Next weekend looks to be better weather for the Potholers. This weekend I might go out to Schoharie for an overnight trip but I am not set on that either, especially if Saturday looks cloudy and Sunday stormy. And I’m just tired and broke from summer vacation. πŸ– But summer is fading away so quickly.

The 2020 Census Data For Voting Districts Will Be Available Aug. 12 : NPR

After months of delays, the 2020 census results used to redraw voting districts around the country will finally be released on Aug. 12, the U.S. Census Bureau said Thursday.

In a tweet, the federal government's largest statistical agency confirmed that the detailed demographic data will be posted on its website four days sooner than Aug. 16, the previously announced deadline the bureau had agreed to meet as part of a lawsuit by Ohio over the data's release schedule.

The coronavirus pandemic and interference by the administration of former President Donald Trump have forced the bureau to put out new redistricting data about five months later than its original schedule in order to run more quality checks.

Long Pond Entrance

While I didn't get a chance to haul my kayak into Long Pond, and do some paddling around there, this is the access point fo the Saint Regis Canoe area. It looked very popular.

Taken on Saturday August 14, 2010 at Long Pond to Hoel Pond Loop.
