Good morning! Happy Memorial Day Weekend ποΈ ! Mostly cloudy and 49 degrees in Delmar, NY. β There is a north breeze at 7 mph. π. Blue skies to the south, which is odd considering the rain due later. The skies will clear Monday around 1 am.
It looks like today is going to be the start of the coldest Memorial Day Weekend β since at least 2013, that year when I was camping π at Moose River Plains and it was so wet and muddy. Between the black flies π and everything else I am not convinced that Memorial Day Weekend is the best weekend ever to get out of town.
I am doing my morning walk πΆπ» early this morning fueled by the French Toast π³ and then will take a shower πΏ and catch the bus down to the office π’. I decided to work downtown today as frankly I should be working more in the office as the pandemic is over. π₯ Plus my work computer is so much faster than the Hotspot and VPN, save bandwidth etc. Plus it’s going to be a cold and rainy day π§οΈ and I’m heading over to the Dan’s vacant apartment to continue with the salvage effort of John’s water π¦ and smoke π₯ damaged files π. Maybe next Friday I’ll work by Lake Pleasant.
Today will rain likely, mainly after 4pm. Cloudy π§, with a high of 56 degrees at 2pm. 19 degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical day around April 9th. North wind around 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible. A year ago, we had partly cloudy skies in the morning, remaining cloudy in the afternoon. It was humid. The high last year was 83 degrees. The record high of 93 was set in 2016. There was a dusting of snow in 1902.β
I think I left my rain β coat at my parents house, but I have my umbrella and I’m hopeful it won’t be raining too hard at the end of the day. I told Lynne and Dan that I would be over this afternoon to continue salvaging John’s papers. Not going to be great weather for drying things π but hopefully the weekend will be quite dry. I’m hoping I won’t get totally soaked on the way over.
Solar noon π is at 12:54 pm with sun having an altitude of 68.9Β° from the due south horizon (-1.9Β° vs. 6/21). A six foot person will cast a 2.3 foot shadow today compared to 2.2 feet on the first day of summer. The golden hour π
starts at 7:42 pm with the sun in the west-northwest (294Β°). πΈ The sunset is in the west-northwest (301Β°) with the sun dropping below the horizon at 8:24 pm after setting for 3 minutes and 22 seconds with dusk around 8:57 pm, which is 52 seconds later than yesterday. π The best time to look at the stars is after 9:41 pm. At sunset, look for rain π§ and temperatures around 49 degrees. There will be a north breeze at 7 mph. Today will have 15 hours and one minute of daytime, an increase of one minute and 29 seconds over yesterday.
Tonight will rain. π§ Low of 44 degrees at 4am. 10 degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical night around April 29th. North wind around 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New precipitation amounts between a half and three quarters of an inch possible. In 2020, we had cloudy skies in the evening, which became partly cloudy by the early hours of the morning. It became very sticky as the night progressed. It got down to 70 degrees. The record low of 34 occurred back in 1956.
Tomorrow will rain likely, mainly before 9am. Mostly cloudy π§, with a high of 53 degrees at 5pm. 22 degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical day around April 4th. North wind around 9 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible. A year ago, we had partly cloudy skies in the morning, remaining cloudy in the afternoon. It was humid. The high last year was 89 degrees. The record high of 93 was set in 1931.
I might go out to Five Rivers Environmental Education Center π¦ later in the evening tomorrow but it all depends on the weather and if I should go back in the city to continue drying papers and photos πΈ. We did find we could salvage most photos with enough water abs soaking to seperate them out. I want to see if I can get digital photos of my valuable documents and other things this weekend so I can have an off site backup which could prove valuable as I learned from the fire recovery efforts. π Digital data is so much easier to back up, store and keep safe than the paper records of yesteryear.
Looking ahead to Sunday, a chance of rain. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 59. π₯ Northeast wind around 6 mph. Chance of precipitation is 50%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible. Typical average high for the weekend is 75 degrees. Not this year. Definitely a bad weather weekend for Memorial Day Weekend.
But Memorial Day looks slightly better. Mostly sunny, with a high near 71. π But still cold. At least it will be nice for the Memorial Day Parades. πΊπΈ I’m hoping the next weekend will be nicer but right now it looks unsettled.
Looking ahead, there are 7 weeks until Last Sunset After 8:30 PM π with dusk at 9:04 pm. On that day in 2020, we had rain and temperatures between 80 and 65 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 84 degrees. We hit a record high of 97 back in 1900.
