Good morning! Happy Tuesday. One day closer to the weekend, and it might finally be a nice weekend for a change. Next Tuesday is Pink Moon π . Mostly cloudy and 46 degrees in Delmar, NY. β
There is a south breeze at 5 mph. π. Temperatures will drop below freezing at Thursday around midnight. βοΈ
Today will be partly sunny π, with a high of 62 degrees at 3pm. One degree above normal, which is similar to a typical day around April 23rd. South wind 5 to 15 mph becoming northwest in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 26 mph. Watch out for thunderstorms again today, although we didn’t get that much yesterday. A year ago, we had mostly sunny skies. The high last year was 54 degrees. The record high of 93 was set in 1941. 5.8 inches of snow fell back in 1947.β
Solar noon π is at 12:55 pm with sun having an altitude of 59° from the due south horizon (-11.8° vs. 6/21). A six foot person will cast a 3.6 foot shadow today compared to 2.2 feet on the first day of summer. The golden hour π
starts at 7:05 pm with the sun in the west (280°). πΈ The sunset is in the west-northwest (287°) with the sun dropping below the horizon at 7:43 pm after setting for 3 minutes and 1 seconds with dusk around 8:12 pm, which is one minute and 8 seconds later than yesterday. π
I probably should go to the laundromat either today or tomorrow. π I am running low on clean clothes, although I could probably find some if I were to get more of summer attire out of the closet and put away some of the winter stuff. I will probably need more clean clothes, especially if I go up north for the weekend and possibly work remote from Speculator for a portion of next week. I can work down at the laundromat, making the necessary calls and emails using the wi-fi they have down there. π» π I would like to get off the metered network for a while to for updating software on my laptop, as there are some security updates and a QGIS update πΊ I should install. π
At dusk you’ll see the Waxing Gibbous π Moon in the south (189°) at an altitude of 69° from the horizon, 239,900 miles away. π The best time to look at the stars is after 8:49 pm. At sunset, look for partly cloudy skies π and temperatures around 56 degrees. There will be a northwest breeze at 9 mph. Today will have 13 hours and 37 minutes of daytime, an increase of 2 minutes and 41 seconds over yesterday.
Tonight will have a chance of rain, mainly after 1am. Mostly cloudy π§, with a low of 41 degrees at 5am. Two degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical night around April 25th. Northwest wind 5 to 7 mph becoming calm after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible. In 2020, we had clear skies in the evening, which became light rain by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 31 degrees. The record low of 20 occurred back in 1875.
I saw that they’ve totally eliminated the auto enroll pre-pay discount for the cellphone data plan, π± which is obnoxious, but I figure it will probably only be a month maybe two when I’ll need the hotspot and unlimited data plan. I figure it is because they are gently trying to push me off it to a capped plan. Come late May or June, I am figuring I’ll probably be back to working downtown, where they have wi-fi in the office, and if I need internet in the evening, there is always the park or library. π Although between downloading Youtube videos and doing nearly everything on my phone these days, home internet is far less necessary. π€« I can’t imagine the public library will be closed to indoor study for much longer as everybody is getting vaccinated, and I’m nearly fully immune from the Corona come next Tuesday, and I wasn’t the first one to race out and get my two shots or wait in line. π
Still watching my credit card like a hawk. π³ So far those 57-odd mistaken $1 charges haven’t dropped of the card, but if they turn into anything, I’ll have to call the credit card company. I’m hoping they just drop off the statement, and I won’t have to go through the process. I’m not sure if my card is locked or what is going on, but I’m observing and if I have problems come later in the week when I’m shopping, I’ll call the credit card company up to discuss.
Right now, a split verdict on the weekend. π Saturday, mostly sunny, with a high near 65. Maximum dew point of 38 at 9am. Sunday, showers likely. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 58. Chance of precipitation is 60%. Typical average high for the weekend is 62 degrees. Seems like the precipitation amounts and likelihood are decreasing for Sunday, β which is good as I might want to spend a long weekend up north. I can handle a day of 50 degrees with rain showers, especially with Monday and Tuesday looking pretty nice. I am leaning towards heading north after my therapy session, but we’ll see what the weather is like come Friday and what mood I am to head north at that point. Because I work from home, it’s not like the ice will be sitting in car all day thawing out.
As previously noted, next Tuesday is Pink Moon π when the sun will be setting at 7:51 pm with dusk at 8:21 pm. On that day in 2020, we had rain showers, cold, cloudy and temperatures between 46 and 37 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 63 degrees. We hit a record high of 91 back in 1962.
