There Will Never Be β€œEnough” Parking – Streetsblog USA

Here me out: there will never be enough parking.

What isn’t unique to Rochester, is that there is actually far more parking than there are people. In America, the estimate is roughly 800 million parking spaces (for a population slightly over 300 million in our country, and far fewer drivers than that). We don’t have a supply problem. This is a demand problem…

March 21, 2021 Morning

Good morning! Happy Sunday on this beautiful spring day! β›ͺ Next Sunday the Average High is 50 🌸 . Sunny and 38 degrees in Delmar, NY. 🌞 Calm wind. Warming up quickly, as we will push 60 degrees later on today. A nice preview of spring, with most of this week having temperatures in the 60s. Just wait until we have days in April where the high is only 40 degrees. But enjoy it for now, while it lasts. 70 degrees Thursday? Possible.

Yesterday was a nice hike up at Five Rivers. Spring peepers are just starting to come out with the ice melting, although they are few and infrequent, and relatively faint. 🐸 It still has to warm up a bit more before we see them coming out in mass. Made some improvements to mapper on the blog, allowing me to make better looking maps, especially with street maps and contours. πŸ—Ί

Today will be sunny 🌞, with a high of 62 degrees at 3pm. 16 degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical day around April 23rd. Calm wind. I’ll take late April weather at this point. A year ago, we had mostly sunny skies in the morning with sunny skies in the afternoon. The high last year was 46 degrees. The record high of 78 was set in 1921. 6 inches of snow fell back in 1905.❄ Not today, suckers.

Going to be a nice day and I’m thinking of spending the balance of the day out hiking and observing nature up at Partridge Run. 🚢 Road walks up there this time of year aren’t too muddy, although I expect there to be some around, especially in the hollows. But that’s to be expected, as it’s only late March. Some years there is a ton of snow in late March, although that is less common in recent years as the March climate in Albany is significantly warmer then it once was.

Solar noon 🌞 is at 1:03 pm with sun having an altitude of 47.8Β° from the due south horizon (-23.1Β° vs. 6/21). A six foot person will cast a 5.4 foot shadow today compared to 2.2 feet on the first day of summer. The golden hour πŸ… starts at 6:32 pm with the sun in the west (265Β°). πŸ“Έ The sunset is in the west (271Β°) with the sun dropping below the horizon at 7:09 pm after setting for 2 minutes and 53 seconds with dusk around 7:37 pm, which is one minute and 9 seconds later than yesterday. πŸŒ‡ At dusk you’ll see the First Quarter πŸŒ“ Moon in the south (188Β°) at an altitude of 73Β° from the horizon, 246,734 miles away. πŸš€ The best time to look at the stars is after 8:10 pm. At sunset, look for clear skies πŸŒ„ and temperatures around 54 degrees. There will be a calm wind. Today will have 12 hours and 13 minutes of daytime, an increase of 2 minutes and 54 seconds over yesterday.

Tonight will be clear πŸŒƒ, with a low of 30 degrees at 6am. Two degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical night around March 27th. Calm wind. In 2020, we had clear skies in the evening, which became clear by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 23 degrees. The record low of 2 occurred back in 1875.

I saw my tax forms were received by state and federal tax departments, so it will only be a matter of time before I get my refund. Not a bad month — I am fortunate enough to be enough below the limit to get the stimulus check, plus a tax refund about the same amount, and it’s a three-paycheck month. πŸ’° Of course, the aut0 insur3rs are chasing me around the internet reminding me they’d like me to get cheaper insurance by switching to their company and dropping to lower coverage. πŸš— So that bill is due at the end of month, plus any other repairs or expenses that may occur like if my truck has to be repaired or I probably need an oil change. Rent is going up in May. 🏠 I can’t wait until I own my own land, but I like my job and the money I make, so it’s better to save for now.

As previously noted, next the Sunday is Average High is 50 🌸 when the sun will be setting at 7:17 pm with dusk at 7:45 pm. Might be warmer then that. On that day in 2020, we had rain showers, partly cloudy and temperatures between 51 and 30 degrees. There was a record high of 85 back in 1945.

I am still leaning towards taking a long weekend over Easter Weekend to the Adirondacks. 🐰 I will take it by ear as the wear pattern could change by then and we get a good snow storm, or more likely it be cold rain. 🌧 Although Central New York might be a better choice in the sense that there is more good opportunities to trout fish there 🎣 although I kind of like the Adirondacks as it’s more remote, and unlike a campground I can shoot guns πŸ”« , have a big ol’ fire πŸ”₯ if it’s not too dry and listen music as loud as I want to.
