Today is a nice sunny day. If you were to walk out to Five Rivers Pavilion and look at the sun, here is where the sun would be throughout the day.

If Needles Make You Nervous, How Do You Prepare For Your Coronavirus Vaccine? : Goats and Soda : NPR
I hate shots. Tell me the truth: How much is this vaccination going to hurt?
The honest, and short, answer appears to be: Not much! That's according to people who have already been jabbed including Vice President Kamala Harris, who said she "barely felt it," Dr. Anthony Fauci, who didn't flinch when he got his inoculation on live TV, and my needle-averse son, who is in Moderna's adolescent trial and says the poke hurt way less than any other he's gotten.
"From my own experience, I didn't even feel the needle go in," says Dr. Jill Weatherhead, assistant professor of adult and pediatric infectious diseases at Baylor College of Medicine.
Experts say the coronavirus vaccine should feel about the same as any other intramuscular vaccine shot when the needle pierces your skin en route to your deltoid, a muscle that has been deemed an easy target. But there's some evidence to back up the anecdotal accounts that the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines hurt less: There is a range in the CDC's guidelines for needle size, and vaccine administrators may be opting for the smallest length and diameter within those limits in order not to waste any amount that clings to the needle, says Dr. Abinash Virk, co-chair of the COVID vaccination allocation and distribution for the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn.
February 6, 2021 Morning
Good morning! Happy Save the Pine Bush Turns 43 π¦ ! No Pine Bush in person dinner this month because of the Corona, no they don’t have the beer balls anymore at the dinners. They are doing take out I guess and having a Zoom-style dinner this month. Three weeks to Snow Moon π . Mostly sunny and 29 degrees in Delmar, NY. There is a south breeze at 8 mph. π. There are 6 inches of snow on the ground. β It really did melt quite a bit yesterday, making the sidewalks real icy come the evening. οΈThings will start to thaw out at around noontime. π‘οΈ
I am actually surprised how sunny and nice this morning really is. I guess I knew it was going to be a pretty nice day, but when it happened, it still surprised me. I have an interview with a student researcher about the Albany about Save the Pine Bush, on this anniversary day. I can remember the 30th anniversary for SPB like it was yesterday, but now they are celebrating 43 years, with the Crossgates Maul apartments being the big issue these days.
Today will be partly sunny π, with a high of 33 degrees at 1pm. Typical for today. South wind 8 to 16 mph becoming west in the afternoon. A year ago, we had mist in the morning, remaining cloudy in the afternoon. The high last year was 33 degrees. The record high of 55 was set in 1991. 10.8 inches of snow fell back in 1978.β
I am thinking about going skiing later. Then out to the folks house for Sunday dinner. A day early as it looks like Sunday evening might be quite snowy, although I might go and wash my truck on Sunday morning. Looks like all of next week will have a very unstable weather pattern. And much colder in Biden’s America. But won’t worry, six weeks until spring, and the average high will be climbing noticeably by the second half of the month, and when there is no hope, there is spring.
Solar noon π is at 12:10 pm with sun having an altitude of 31.9Β° from the due south horizon (-38.9Β° vs. 6/21). A six foot person will cast a 9.6 foot shadow today compared to 2.2 feet on the first day of summer. The golden hour π starts at 4:35 pm with the sun in the west-southwest (243Β°). πΈ The sunset is in the west-southwest (250Β°) with the sun dropping below the horizon at 5:16 pm after setting for 3 minutes and 6 seconds with dusk around 5:45 pm, which is one minute and 19 seconds later than yesterday. π The best time to look at the stars is after 6:19 pm. At sunset, look for partly clear skies π and temperatures around 28 degrees. There will be a west breeze at 11 mph. Today will have 10 hours and 12 minutes of daytime, an increase of 2 minutes and 31 seconds over yesterday.
Tonight will be partly cloudy , with a low of 13 degrees at 1am. Three degrees below normal. Maximum wind chill around 8 at 12am; West wind 5 to 7 mph becoming calm in the evening. In 2020, we had light freezing rain in the evening, which became rain by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 20 degrees. The record low of -18 occurred back in 1995.
πΉπ»πΌOnly 6 weeks remain until the first day of calendar spring!πΉπ»πΌ The Ground Hawg said six more weeks of winter, and I guess the calendar is now just catching up. But I saw the rancher on the Youtube down south putting his cows out in grass, although just some very tender shoots popping up in the fields of brown. That’s not New York though.
As previously noted, there are 3 weeks until Snow Moon π when the sun will be setting at 5:42 pm with dusk at 6:10 pm. On that day in 2020, we had snow and temperatures between 42 and 26 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 38 degrees. We hit a record high of 61 back in 1997.
