September 25, 2020 Morning

Good morning! Yeah, it’s Friday! Next Friday is Average High is 65 in Albany πŸ‚. Partly cloudy and 46 degrees at Mason Lake. β›… Calm wind.

An absolutely beautiful day. β˜€οΈLots of blue sky and bright colors on the trees all around. 🌲 I really managed to hit peak πŸ—» color in the Adirondacks. Got some rain last night which caught me by surprise 😲 but nothing got too wet and it was a brief storm. β˜” And the thing was it was fairly warm this morning so the damp and wet wasn’t a big deal. I didn’t even bother with hooking up the heater.

Today will have isolated showers between 10am and noon. Patchy fog before 10am. Otherwise, mostly sunny 🌞, with a high of 76 degrees at 3pm. Eight degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical day around September 7th. Maximum dew point of 55 at 11am. Calm wind becoming southwest 5 to 8 mph in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 20%. A year ago, we had partly cloudy skies. The high last year was 76 degrees. The record high of 91 was set in 2017.

Busy day this morning πŸ’» with a Zoom Meeting plus a report to edit today. I will probably work at the library parking lot πŸ“š to start out the day and then go down an sit by the lake or walk the nature trail. It’s such a nice day, I wish I didn’t have to work all day. At least I’m not home 🏑 and enjoying the beautiful weather up north. Going to be even warmer come the weekend.

Solar noon 🌞 is at 12:50 pm with sun having an altitude of 45.3Β° from the due south horizon (-24.5Β° vs. 6/21). A six foot person will cast a 5.9 foot shadow today compared to 2.2 feet on the first day of summer. The golden hour πŸ… starts at 6:13 pm with the sun in the west (263Β°). πŸ“Έ The sunset is in the west (269Β°) with the sun dropping below the horizon at 6:51 pm after setting for 2 minutes and 57 seconds with dusk around 7:17 pm, which is one minute and 50 seconds earlier than yesterday. πŸŒ‡ At dusk you’ll see the Waxing Gibbous πŸŒ” Moon in the south-southeast (162Β°) at an altitude of 21Β° from the horizon, 237,543 miles away. πŸš€ The best time to look at the stars is after 7:52 pm. At sunset, look for mostly clear skies πŸŒ„ and temperatures around 72 degrees. The dew point will be 54 degrees. There will be a southwest breeze at 6 mph. Today will have 12 hours of daytime, a decrease of 2 minutes and 58 seconds over yesterday.

Tonight will have patchy fog after 1am. Otherwise, mostly clear πŸŒƒ, with a low of 50 degrees at 6am. Three degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical night around September 21st. Calm wind. In 2019, we had partly cloudy skies in the evening, which became cloudy by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 53 degrees. The record low of 29 occurred back in 1947.

Tomorrow will have isolated showers after 2pm. Patchy fog before 9am. Otherwise, mostly sunny 🌦, with a high of 77 degrees at 3pm. Nine degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical day around September 4th. Maximum dew point of 55 at 11am. Light south wind increasing to 5 to 10 mph in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 20%. A year ago, we had partly cloudy skies. The high last year was 69 degrees. The record high of 90 was set in 2017.

I thought about going to Piseco Powley Road come the weekend β›Ί but I need to have cell service this weekend πŸ“Ά so I’ll stay around the Spectulator area this weekend, maybe go for a cold swim at the Spectulator Village Beach πŸ– come Sunday. Who knows!

Looking ahead to Sunday, mostly cloudy, with a high near 76. South wind 7 to 14 mph. 🌞 Maximum dew point of 59 at 11am. Typical average high for the weekend is 68 degrees.

At any rate, it’s going to be a really nice weekend. ☺ I am glad I’m up north πŸ‘πŸ» and can enjoy the great colors πŸ³οΈβ€πŸŒˆ even if I have to work part of the long weekend up north here.

Last night I had another field mouse 🐭 in my truck cap which was obnoxious but I’m not sure what they are being attracted too. They were also on the table rattling pots and pans 🍳 which was obnoxious.

As previously noted, next Friday is Average High is 65 πŸ‚ when the sun will be setting at 6:36 pm with dusk at 7:04 pm. On that day in 2019, we had partly cloudy, rain showers and temperatures between 75 and 49 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 65 degrees. We hit a record high of 85 back in 1927.

Democratic presidential candidate Elizabeth Warren said something similar during CNN's climate town hall, pointing out that minor tweaks to our lifestyles often obscure larger global pollution issues.

"Understand — this is exactly what the fossil-fuel industry hopes we're all talking about," Warren said. "They want to be able to stir up a lot of controversy around your light bulbs, around your straws, and around your cheeseburgers, when 70% of the pollution — of the carbon that we're throwing into the air — comes from three industries."

Those three industries she's referring to are better thought of as "activities," as PolitiFact said after the debate, and they are transportation, electricity, and industry.

That said, is recycling worth it? For bottles labeled "1" or "2", the answer is "yes," Pochiro said. There's also a growing market for plastics labeled "5," a flexible plastic that includes mini-yogurt containers. An increasing percentage of fives are actually getting recycled. For other numbers, it's important to check the restrictions of your local recycling facility, Pochiro said.

Hocevar's answer was simpler: a resounding "no" on numbers 3, 4, 6 and 7. These plastics just gunk up an already strained recycling system, he said.οΏ½
