April 20, 2018 Morning

Good morning! Yeah, it’s Friday! Definitely Friday, lots of cars parked on the even side of Lark Street. 🚗Next Friday is Arbor Day 🌳. It was sunny, now cloudy and 34 degrees in Delmar, NY. ☁ There is a west-northwest breeze at 13 mph. 🍃. ️ We are kind of on the edge of the front so God only knows if the balance of the day will be Sunday.

Today will be sunny 🌞 , with a high of 47 degrees at 4pm. 14 degrees below normal. Northwest wind 13 to 15 mph. A year ago, we had cloudy skies with some clearing in the afternoon. The high last year was 62 degrees. The record high of 93 was set in 1941. 5.8 inches of snow fell back in 1947.❄

The sun will set at 7:43 pm with dusk around 8:13 pm, which is one minute and 8 seconds later than yesterday. 🌇 At sunset, look for clear skies and 43 degrees. There will be a northwest breeze at 13 mph. Today will have 13 hours and 39 minutes of daytime, an increase of 2 minutes and 41 seconds over yesterday.

Tonight will be mostly clear 🌃, with a low of 31 degrees at 6am. Eight degrees below normal. Northwest wind 6 to 11 mph. In 2017, we had light rain in the evening, which became light rain and mist by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 47 degrees. The record low of 20 occurred back in 1875.

Feeling a bit congested today but maybe it’s the weather. I’m hoping once the sun comes out this weekend and it’s warm enough to open the windows I will feel better. I just need to spend some nights out in the wilderness. Maybe next weekend.

I find it hard to believe tomorrow is Earth Day and there isn’t a trace of green in the city. 🌾 Maybe a little green on the grass and a few tulips are popping up in few places, but generally the landscape is as dead as it is in mid November. Now, I’m not expecting any green in the mountains until early to mid May but I heard that many lakes in the Adirondacks still have multiple feet of ice on them.🗻 I’m actually kind of curious what the snow depth reports look like for the Adirondacks. I’ll look this morning.

This weekend looks like it will be quite nice but I have to work but maybe I can get out for a while. 💼 The following weekend I should have free but I lead the Save the Pine Bush hike. After that, I might go out to Schoharie County for a night in the wilderness but it depends on the weather.

Last night I went down to Assemblyman Skartados funeral wake. Kind of a sad occasion, I worked with him for many years.😓 Really quite a long trip back and forth. Marlboro is no where near Albany.

As previously noted, next Friday is Arbor Day 🌳 when the sun will be setting at 7:51 pm with dusk at 8:22 pm. On that day in 2017, we had cloudy skies and temperatures between 73 and 57 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 63 degrees. We hit a record high of 91 back in 1962.
