October 7, 2016 Evening

Currently, we are at 76 degrees and sunny in N. Syracuse. A pretty nice afternoon, with lots of sun and nice warm temperatures. You don’t often get weather like this during the first week of October. It will cool down come Columbus Day Weekend, but right now, we aren’t looking at a major washout.

At sunset, look for partly clear conditions and 74 degrees. The dew point will be 54 degrees. There will be a south-southeast breeze at 7 mph. Talk about a great way to kick off the weekend. Will be a good night for kicking back next to a fire in the woods, and sitting up and looking at the moon and stars.

The sun will set at 6:33 pm with dusk around 7:01 pm, which is 1 minutes and 44 seconds earlier than yesterday.

There is a WaxingΒ CrescentΒ Moon tonight with 44% illuminated. The moon will set around 1:27 am. The First Quarter Moon is on Saturday nightΒ with clearing skies expected. The Full β€œHunter” Moon is a week from Saturday night.

October 7, 2016 Morning

Good morning! Yeah, it’s Friday! 85 days remain in 2016. Sunny with some fog rising off of Green Lake and 58 degrees at Green Lakes State Park in Fayetteville. Calm wind. The dew point is 48 degrees. Color are starting to peak out a bit along the lake.

Today will be sunny, with a high of 75 degrees at 2pm. A very pleasant autumn  day for sure.  14 degrees above normal. Maximum dew point of 53 at 11am. South wind 3 to 7 mph. Twenty years ago today, Fox News signed on for the first time. It was the start of partisan television news and lead to the revival of partisan news, along with the rise of Facebook, social media and the Internet.

Also I’m 1993, the great Midwestern flood came to an end after 130 days of the Missouri River having unusually high river levels. Much of the river’s natural flood plain with its fertile soils had gotten built up and when you mess with mother nature at times, she can be a bitch.

32 days until Election Day when our long national nightmare comes to an end. Big game regular season begins two Saturdays after that. Honestly we all know what is going to happen. Hillary Clinton will be coronated as our first woman president, a big step forward at least on paper. The preponderance of  evidence suggests that this will embolden Republicans and it will mean more Washington grid lock. At least our second amendment rights will be protected on the federal level, assuming the GOP doesn’t cave too easily.

There are 3 weeks until National Chocolate Day when the sun will be setting at 6:00 pm with dusk at 6:29 pm. Talk about a sweet day. The average high temperature is 55 degrees, with a record high of 78 in 1971.

October 6, 2016 Night

Good evening! Clear and 59 degrees in North Syracuse. Calm wind. The dew point is 52 degrees. Not a half bad night after a few very long, rather tiresome days at work. We had some great weather today, but between sneaking in a few hours of sleep, it was a pretty crazy day or so. But Friday should be relatively calm at work, and then tomorrow is Saturday. But I think it’s going to cloud up and possibly rain this week with the remnants of Hurricane Matthews pushing north. But at least we aren’t expected to get that horrific hurricane up north here, and especially in the Adirondacks, it should be quite good for leaf peeping.

After dropping my phone on the sidewalk many times before,Β I finally smashed the screen again. But that’s fine, it was only a $40 phone and I actually have a replacement in my truck. I’ve been thinking about upgrading the phone eventually and when I destroy my backup phone, that is probably what I’ll end up doing. This phone though, has held up quite well.

Doing some wash again tonight.Β At least now with the water turned onto the washing machine, all has been working a lot better. Still going to be a real mild night tonight, with clear skies, not bad for enjoying the stars. But I’m dead tired and will be going to bed shortly.

Tonight will be clear, with a low of 50 degrees at 6am. Seven degrees above normal. Light east wind. The record low of 27 occurred back in 1986. Waxing Crescent Moon tonight with 38% illuminated. The moon will set around 12:41 am. The First Quarter Moon is on Sunday at 4:33 am with partly cloudy expected. The Full β€œHunter” Moon is on Sunday, October 16th at 4:23 am.

Tomorrow will be sunny, with a high of 78 degrees at 3pm. 15 degrees above normal. Maximum dew point of 53 at 11am. South wind around 6 mph. The record high of 89 was set in 1963. The sun will rise at 7:09 am with the first light at 6:40 am, which is 1 minutes and 10 seconds later then yesterday.

Looking ahead, Friday the 13th is in 1 weeks, Daylight Savings Time Ends and Last Day with 10 Hours of Daylight is in 1 months and Thanksgiving is in 7 weeks.
