Good morning! Ugg. Five day week? It is currently mostly cloudy and 23 degrees in Delmar. Another depressing start to the morning but on this Opposite Day, we expect sunny conditions later, with a high near 37. Calm wind becoming southeast around 5 mph in the afternoon. Should be a nice afternoon.
Sunset will be at 4:59 pm with twilight at 5:30 pm which is one minute and 17 seconds later then yesterday. Not quite a five o’clock sunset, unless you head a little bit west, like out in Berne or maybe just to the top of Bennett Hill in Clarksville. You’ll actually see the sunset tonight as it will be clear. Tonight we will have a Waining Gibbous Moon with 87% illuminated. It will rise in the east around 6:49 pm. The Last Quarter Moon is on Sunday and the New Moon is on February 8.
There are 4 months, 25 days until Fathers Day. I’m sure the dads of the world will look forward to it. Friday is my 33rd birthday. This day in 1960, the National Association of Broadcasters reacts to the “payola” scandal by threatening fines for any disc jockeys who accept money for playing particular records. Fortunately, payola doesn’t happen anymore.
It’s been cold enough this past week that the Normans Kill is freezing up or at least has a good skim of ice on it. The town skating rink is finally frozen and folks are ice skating on it. Lawsons Lake is frozen and people are ice fishing on it carefully. People have been ice fishing in the Adirondacks for a few weeks now. That said, it’s expected that ice will thaw out a bit with temperatures expected to reach 37 this afternoon.
Glad I washed my truck off good yesterday to hold off the tin worm who comes out of hibernation with the warmer weather. Want to get a few more winters out of my truck before it gets all rusty. I’m paranoid about road salt, plus my truck looks nice all clean.
