Decided to get Big Red inspected before work today. Of course I was running late, so I didn’t put any fuel in it, so hopefully it will still pass inspection.
Oh, well! I’m an idiot…

Getting Big Red back tomorrow around 11 AM …. There is some repair to the interior that still has to be done, but I was told I could drop it off to have the repairs finished one afternoon next week. Going to stay in town this weekend, just to make sure things are running fine, but next week I will head up to Moose River Plains for the long weekend.
Big Red is painted and reassembled. Tomorrow morning the bedliner gets re-sprayed, once the bedliner dries the cap will be reinstalled and re-wired on Friday. I expect to have Big Red back midday on Friday.
Good Morning! The Work Week Comes Back Around Again. I might actually post my Monday blogpost on Monday, assuming I donβt get too busy at work as usually happens when I first get to work on Mondays. Another week, and I still donβt have my truck back. The sun however was out this morning, and it was a pleasant walk down to the bus at the Park and Ride, as usually is the case.
One thing that is real nice about walking down to the Park and Ride is that bus is always waiting there when I get there. So once I reach my stop, I can sit down on the nice cool bus. Often the bus has to wait 5-6 minutes before it leaves, but thatβs fine as I always like to build in an extra five minutes in case I run into delays walking down to the bus stop β like construction, traffic, or forgetting something at home. Wednesday starts construction on Elm Avenue, which makes me think my walk might start becoming much less pleasant if heavy construction is underway.
I really hope I get Big Red back soon. Itβs been eight and a half weeks now. I have to go down to Oneonta for work on Thursday, and if I donβt get my truck back, I will have to rent one or make other arrangements to get down there. The last time I heard from the shop, they were working on getting the bed sprayed, so that must mean that repairs almost done. I might even get it back for the weekend. That would be fun. The weekend forecast looks nice.
This past weekend, I was pretty much stuck in town, but I did go for a walk out to Five Rivers Environmental Education Center on Saturday. They donβt allow fishing or anything fun out there, but itβs a quiet place out in the woods to sit and read do some reading. Then I walked home, washed off the sweat, made some dinner, and sat out back playing on my phone until 9:30 PM when I fell asleep after having a couple of beers.
I am hopeful I can finally get summer underway after this week, by heading out of town and having a nice weekend camping. But that requires me to get my truck back, and the weather to be nice. Two things we canβt be 100% sure of before the weekend. But Iβm hopeful. Hope is the only thing one can have.
Ever since I got Big Red, I’ve wanted to get a lift kit to jack it up a few inches. Not super high, but something with a few more inches ground clearance, better road views, and just a higher ride.
Not super high, but a few inches above where it is now. Simply said it rides much too low, and I think it would be fun to be a few degrees higher in the air.
Okay, maybe not that high. But I think it would be fun to jack up my truck. I work hard for a living, and should be able to get the toys I want. And it would be fun to e up high.
The reality is, I am probably not going back to college net year. If can I save up my pennies for the 6 months or so, I can pay for the lift kit, installation, rims, tires, and possibly “real” bumpers for the truck, to replace those awful tissue paper ones. That would be fun in my book.
