Good evening! Mostly cloudy and 32 degrees in Delmar, NY. ☁ There is a north-northwest breeze at 9 mph. 🍃. Things will start to thaw out at tomorrow around 9 am. 🌡️

Not a half bad evening, not super cold, feeling more like the first day of spring tonight – which is different than the first day of summer like last night. ❄ But they’re still talking about a big snow storm on next Saturday. Pine Bush dinner on Wednesday, going over to John Wolcott house Thursday. Three days of session attire this week but at least I get to go home at five each day. 👚 The dress shirts are hanging in the bathroom to absorb moisture as they’re a bit wrinkled but I suspect I’ll need the iron come the morning. Definitely good I got 14 miles walking in today as I doubt I’ll be walking 🚶 down to the express bus 🚍 tomorrow in my suit and tie. 👔But maybe after work I’ll try to get more steps in especially if it’s relatively mild.

It was a good weekend, modestly busy but that kept things moving forward. 💼 I suspect it will be another busy work week but at least I’ll have a few weeknights free without the late nights at work. I have to keep typing up that index 📇 for John Wolcott files 📂, I have a soldering project to work on, some exercise bike 🚲 and YouTube watching to do and I should probably make up some more maps. I might get asked to help with taping 📹 more of the Reszin Adams documentary too.

Tonight will be mostly cloudy 🌥, with a low of 28 degrees at 4am. 14 degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical night around March 22nd. Maximum wind chill around 26 at 2am; Northwest wind 5 to 9 mph becoming light and variable after midnight. In 2019, we had mostly clear skies in the evening, which became mostly clear by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 10 degrees. The record low of -18 occurred back in 1968.

Tonight will have a Waning Gibbous 🌖 moon. The darkest hour is at 12:04 am, followed by dawn at 6:53 am, and sun starting to rise at 7:25 am in the east-southeast (119°) and last for 3 minutes and 20 seconds. Sunrise is 20 seconds earlier than yesterday. 🌄 The golden hour ends at 8:09 am with sun in the southeast (127°) at an altitude of 6°. Tonight will have 14 hours and 40 minutes of darkness, a decrease of one minute and 29 seconds over last night.

Tomorrow will be mostly cloudy 🌥, with a high of 40 degrees at 3pm. 10 degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical day around March 4th. South wind 3 to 8 mph. A year ago, we had cloudy skies in the morning with more sun in the afternoon. The high last year was 23 degrees. The record high of 71 was set in 1932. 13.1 inches of snow fell back in 1964.❄

Also on this week’s agenda is to continue researching counseling services and to make an appointment. 💭 I think some talk therapy could make me a better person and more productive. 😁 I was thinking that by next November I will be a lot closer to being out of the lobbying ban and if I was better at selling myself and had more confidence I could get a much better paying job and be closer to my goals of eventually owning my own land and an off grid property. 🏡 That said, I’m still struggling a bit on what exactly I want to get out of these sessions although I guess it depends a lot on how the discussions go. I’d much prefer to go somewhere on the bus line, so I don’t have to worry about driving.

It’s still looking like a good snow storm on Saturday night so I might do some skiing 🎿 during the long weekend next week. I’d love to do another camping trip ⛺ but not sure if we get a ton of snow. Who knows though, it’s something to watch. I did really enjoy my walk at Partridge Run. I should go out to the hilltowns and spend more time out in the country. YouTube on the exercise bike is fun but it’s not like experiencing reality the same way, alone in the wilderness. 🚲 There is something about the wild country that stirs my soul. The sounds of wilderness that I smells and looks of the countryside and Sure beats being stuck in the basement all day.

I might go shopping 🏪 one night this week because somehow I forgot a lot of things at Walmart on Saturday. I could stop somewhere on the way home from work but it might just be easier to drive there if I had a list of things to do like maybe washing my truck again. 🚘I have plenty of reusable bags now 🛄 after my parents got me some but I’m still thinking about getting milk crates for carrying groceries home. It will be nice not to see so many plastic bags flapping around in the trees in the cities.

In four weeks on February 9 the sun will be setting in the west-southwest (251°) at 5:18 pm,🌄 which is 35 minutes and 26 seconds later then tonight. January 11, 2020 Night

Good evening! Cloudy and 60 degrees in Delmar, NY. ☁ Slight breeze to the south. 🍃 The dew point is 53 degrees. Temperatures will drop below freezing at tomorrow around 9 pm. ☃️

One of those unusual but warm January days that it gets up to the sixties. ♨ Days like that seem happen darn near every year now during the winter as the climate in Albany has warmed so much in recent years that occasionally early summer weather now happens from time to time every winter. While by no means constant it seems like every winter there is at least one night 🌃 nice enough to sit out back for a few hours.

Maybe we just lucked 🍀 out as they got rain ☔ and cold conditions in Syracuse and Western NY. But I took full advantage of the nice weather to read 📖 out back under a lamp plugged into the truck and the inverter. I doubt it would have been as nice out in Brookfield, they got freezing rain last night. Plus I had a lot to do today with the documentary filming 📹 which came out fine, plus buying groceries and toping off the fuel ⛽ in Big Red. I don’t want to let the fuel not stay close to full in case Trump 🎺 does something crazy with Iran and blow up the global oil markets.

I brought my reusable bag to Walmart 🛄 but apparently they still had plastic bags. I guess it’s good to get back in the habit. I am still thinking about getting plastic milk crates 💭 to bring my groceries home as they’re easier to hose off and handle. I checked to see if they had anything similar in store but I couldn’t find any. It looks like I could order them online though. I have an old milk crate around for my paper 📄 trash for recycling ♻ but I want something cleaner for bringing food home.

Only spent $42 on groceries this week, although after getting home I wish I had gotten more pasta sauce 🍝 and pan spray. Also butter. I probably should have made a list 📃. I don’t normally go shopping on the weekdays but this week I might have to run to the store or maybe I can stop on the bus ride home.

Tonight will have showers likely, then showers and possibly a thunderstorm after 3am. Some of the storms could produce gusty winds and heavy rain. 🌧 Low of 59 degrees at 10pm. 44 degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical night around June 19th. Maximum dew point of 57 at 3am. 🏖️ South wind around 17 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms. In 2019, we had clear skies in the evening, which became cloudy by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 12 degrees. The record low of -26 occurred back in 1968.

Tonight will have a Waning Gibbous 🌖 Moon with 98% illuminated. The darkest hour is at 12:04 am, followed by dawn at 6:54 am, and sun starting to rise at 7:25 am in the east-southeast (120°) and last for 3 minutes and 20 seconds. Sunrise is 17 seconds earlier than yesterday. 🌄 The golden hour ends at 8:10 am with sun in the southeast (127°) at an altitude of 6°. Tonight will have 14 hours and 41 minutes of darkness, a decrease of one minute and 25 seconds over last night.

Tomorrow will have showers likely, mainly before 10am. Mostly sunny, with a temperature rising to near 62 by 8am, then falling to around 39 during the remainder of the day. Breezy, with a south wind 14 to 21 mph becoming northwest in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 31 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible. A year ago, we had mostly sunny skies in the morning with some clearing in the afternoon. The high last year was 26 degrees. The record high of 63 was set in 2018. 12.8 inches of snow fell back in 2011.

I’d like to go out for a walk in the morning walk 🚶 before it gets cold out later in the day but it all depends on how long the rain ☔ sticks around. I plan on getting up at 6:30 am tomorrow to maintain healthy sleep habits and maximize my day. If it’s decent out at dawn I’ll go for a walk right away or otherwise I’ll make a queche. 🍳 Even if it is nice enough to walk I’ll probably make the queche when I get home.

Reality hits in the morning, and I’ll have to close my windows. ⬜ Always werid to hear the road noise and people talking out on the street with the windows open. But I’m definitely enjoying the fresh air. Earlier I didn’t have the windows open but after I heard some one on Facebook talking about their windows open and the fact it was so mild earlier I decided my windows must be open tonight. I didn’t open the storm windows in my bedroom, just the other ones.

In four weeks on February 8 the sun will be setting in the west-southwest (250°) at 5:17 pm,🌄 which is 35 minutes and 14 seconds later then tonight. The record high of 52 degrees was set back in 1925.

I was kind of hoping to get camping next weekend ⛺ but it looks like the mild weather won’t last and next Saturday might actually be a big snow storm. ❄ It’s a long ways off but it looks like some cold weather is pushing in after tomorrow morning and it will be cold and probably much more snowy the second half of the month. I’ll forget about sleeping 😴 with the windows open until late March or early April during the next big heat bubble.

Looking ahead, Winnie the Pooh Day 🍯 is in 1 weeks, 5 PM Sunset 🌆 is in 2 weeks, February 🌧 is in 3 weeks, Don’t Cry over Spilled Milk Day 🥛 is a month away, Average High is 50 🌸 is in 11 weeks, Average High is 60 🌼 is in 14 weeks, Average High is 70 🐮 is in 18 weeks, Memorial Day Weekend Starts 🏕️ is in 19 weeks, Last Day of Session 🏛 is in 23 weeks and Summer ️⛱️ is in 23 weeks.

I better think about sleeping 😴. I’m tired and I plan once again to be awake by 6:30 am tomorrow. I might even start getting up at six come the summer and doing a morning walk 🚶 before the heat of the day. But for now I want to maintain a constant sleep schedule for good health. It’s going to be so nice sleeping with the windows open!

Good morning! Tonight is the Wolf Moon 🌕! Four weeks to Save the Pine Bush Turns 42 🦋. Partly cloudy and 36 degrees at the Elm Ave Park & Ride – CDTA. ⛅ Light breeze 🍃. A very pleasant morning that feels more like late March or early April then the coldest week of the year. Maybe colder by next weekend but still not super cold. I bet it will be a lot colder come February. Even with the warmer climate these days we still get at least one good artic blast each winter. ❄ But in the mean time my heat won’t be running much at all this weekend. I like saving energy says the boy in the big jacked up truck who is taking the bus to work. 🚍

The Hudson River is really choppy 🌊 with some white caps heading down river. Maybe it’s just the tide going out with the full 🌕 moon tonight. Definitely wouldn’t want to be in a kayak on the river right now, it almost looks like white water or right below a dam. Plus I bet the water is really cold.

🌹🌻🌼Only 69 days remain until the first day of calendar spring!🌹🌻🌼

I am still thinking about next weekend heading out to Madison County for Martin Luther King Day. 🏕 It looks like the weather might be closer to normal temperatures, and it all depends if we have precipitation or not. It will probably not have a lot of snow out there by next week, so camping at the Moscow Hill Horse Camp, which is on the asphalt road wouldn’t be a problem. Maybe do a little hiking or skiing around there, enjoy the rural scenery with all it’s earthy browns and smells. 🐮 It’s like being in a totally different land then Albany.

Looking ahead, there are 4 weeks until Save the Pine Bush Turns 42 🦋 when the sun will be setting at 5:16 pm with dusk at 5:45 pm. Typically, the high temperature is 33 degrees. We hit a record high of 48 back in 2005.

Towards Mount Greylock

January 9, 2020 Night

Good evening! Partly cloudy and 23 degrees in Delmar, NY. ⛅ There is a south-southeast breeze at 9 mph. 🍃. Things will start to thaw out at tomorrow around 9 am. 🌡️ Not so cold this evening, the wind has died down.

I was over a Cynthia Pooler apartment for a while trying to figure out how to make the Save the Pine Bush camera work properly 🎥 but we ran into some issues but were going to try to cut some video on Saturday but holding off on the top of the line people until we’ve mastered the camera.

I was a bit concerned about catching the bus home in time from her house but I hurried and made it in time. It’s really not far from the Executive Apartments to the bus stop at Price Chopper 🚏and the street lighting with the new LED lights makes walking 🚶 those streets far less creepy. I actually think that neighborhood has improved somewhat in recent years, I know some of my former co-workers used to live up there.

I had the fish sticks 🐠 and tater tots and green beans tonight that I wanted to have the other night. We were talking about all the fancy places people like to eat out but I just find restaurant food to be so wasteful and unhealthy. 🍴 I’m not much of a cook but I prefer to cook my own out of inexpensive ingredients that I buy in bulk at Walmart. It does get though at times though to come up with new meal ideas. But I’d rather save money 💵 and invest in a better tomorrow.

Tonight will be mostly cloudy 🌥, with a low of 22 degrees at 9pm. Eight degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical night around March 4th. Maximum wind chill around 13 at 9pm; South wind 9 to 14 mph. In 2019, we had partly cloudy skies in the evening, which became mostly clear by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 24 degrees. The record low of -13 occurred back in 1968.

Tonight will have a Waxing Crescent 🌒 Moon with 99% illuminated. At dusk you’ll see the moon in the east-northeast (72°) at an altitude of 16° from the horizon, some 235,958 miles away from where you are looking up from the earth. 🚀 The Wolf 🐺 Moon is on Friday, January 10. The darkest hour is at 12:03 am, followed by dawn at 6:54 am, and sun starting to rise at 7:26 am in the east-southeast (120°) and last for 3 minutes and 21 seconds. Sunrise is 12 seconds earlier than yesterday. 🌄 The golden hour ends at 8:10 am with sun in the southeast (128°) at an altitude of 6°. Tonight will have 14 hours and 44 minutes of darkness, a decrease of one minute and 18 seconds over last night.

Tomorrow will have a chance of rain, mainly after noon. Mostly cloudy 🌧, with a high of 47 degrees at 2pm. 17 degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical day around March 22nd. South wind 10 to 13 mph. Better think about wearing my rain coat. Or maybe not. Chance of precipitation is 40%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible. A year ago, we had light rain in the morning, remaining cloudy in the afternoon. The high last year was 32 degrees. The record high of 55 was set in 2016. 7.3 inches of snow fell back in 1984.❄

In four weeks on February 6 the sun will be setting in the west-southwest (249°) at 5:14 pm,🌄 which is 34 minutes and 45 seconds later then tonight. Planning to get to sleep shortly. 😴 Then I will get up at 6:30 again. Not that I need to get up that early but it adds a lot more time to my morning, that is if I don’t hit the snooze button too much. ⏰ I like being up early, having a bunch of coffee ☕ and having a few minutes to watch the sun rise and not be so busy. Even on the weekend I might set the alarm as I’m learning how healthy a common sleep schedule can be.

Looking ahead, National Cheese Lovers Day 🧀 is in 2 weeks, Snow Moon 🌕 is a month away, 5:30 PM Sunset 🌆 is in 6 weeks, Worm Moon 🌕 is in 2 months and Flower Moon 🌕 is in 17 weeks.

January 8, 2020 Night

Good evening! Snow flurries and 22 degrees in Delmar, NY. ❄ Breezy, ️18 mph breeze from the west-northwest 🌬 with gusts up to 32 mph 💨💨💨. The current wind chill is 9. I know it gets colder most winters and this is probably not the coldest of the winter but it’s still kind of cold out tonight. Tomorrow will only be in the upper 20s. The sun thought will help. But then things will start to thaw out at Friday around 10 am, with the mercury expected to reach the 60s by Saturday or maybe even the mid 60s by Sunday. 🌡️

Tonight will have a slight chance of snow showers before 11pm. Partly cloudy 🌃, with a low of 13 degrees at 5am. Two degrees below normal. But that ignores the wind that is howling around. Maximum wind chill around 2 at 6am; Northwest wind 11 to 18 mph, with gusts as high as 32 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%. In 2019, we had mist in the evening, which became light rain by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 32 degrees. The record low of -20 occurred back in 1968.

I didn’t miss not having to do anything with the state of state this year. 🎤 That said the endless hours listening to this interview I was taking notes on 📝 for several hours was quite tiresome. The report I was writing for work is going slowly as it keeps getting more complicated and the NYC subject matters are a bit out of my wheel house 🎡. But at least I got to go home at five. I’ll catch up on the important stuff from the governors speech 💬 from the news headlines.

It was cold enough waiting for the express bus 🚍 home with the wind. 🍃 My neighbor was out so I stayed home and rode the exercise bike while watching another video about skinning and gutting rabbits 🐰🔪 (I must have downloaded several before). While the process is the same, some people have different techniques. Then I watched a video about off grid living in Alaska (very cold this time of year) ⛄ and a phone battery manufacturing plant in China. 🏭 Those high tech factories are incredibly automated and fast in China. I only rode for about 45 minutes to 8:45 but I could have ridden later as my neighbor was still out. 🚲

I also worked on a program to extract captions from YouTube into a text file 📄 for easy reading. Sometimes I like to skim the captions file before I watch a long video to see if it’s worth watching. I also started to prepare and type up the index 📇 to John Wolcott history file. 📂 There is a lot more to do on that. Also worked on developing more content for the blog and read for a bit. 📙 Had a quick dinner of macaroni and cheese although once I stated cooking it I wish I had made fish 🐠 as that’s what I was more hungry for.

Tonight will have a Waxing Gibbous 🌖 Moon with 96% illuminated. At dusk you’ll see the moon in the east (81°) at an altitude of 25° from the horizon, some 238,886 miles away from where you are looking up from the earth. 🚀 The Wolf 🐺 Moon is on Friday, January 10. The darkest hour is at 12:03 am, followed by dawn at 6:54 am, and sun starting to rise at 7:26 am in the east-southeast (120°) and last for 3 minutes and 22 seconds. Starting to put push a bit further north. Sunrise is 11 seconds earlier than yesterday. 🌄 The golden hour ends at 8:11 am with sun in the southeast (128°) at an altitude of 6°. Tonight will have 14 hours and 45 minutes of darkness, a decrease of one minute and 13 seconds over last night.

Tomorrow will be sunny 🌞, with a high of 28 degrees at 2pm. Two degrees below normal. Northwest wind 5 to 8 mph becoming light and variable in the afternoon. Without the wind and with the bright 🔆 sun it shouldnt be too cold. A year ago, we had cloudy skies. The high last year was 40 degrees. The record high of 62 was set in 2008. 9.9 inches of snow fell back in 1953.❄

In four weeks on February 5 the sun will be setting in the west-southwest (249°) at 5:13 pm,🌄 which is 34 minutes and 29 seconds later then tonight. In 2019 on that day, we had partly cloudy skies, mild weather with a few rain showers and temperatures between 57 and 32 degrees. Typically, you have temperatures between 32 and 15 degrees. The record high of 59 degrees was set back in 1890.

Getting to bed at quarter to ten 🔟 because I’m tired 💤 and I plan to get up at six thirty again tomorrow 😮so things aren’t so rushed getting to work. I really like having extra time to get going in the morning and because I’m getting out at five every day now there is no excuse for staying up late.
