December 29, 2019 Morning

Good morning! Happy Sunday. Next Sunday is National Bird Day 🐧. Partly cloudy and 33 degrees at the Glimmerglass State Park. โ›… Calm wind. Temperatures will drop below freezing at around 6 pm. โ˜ƒ๏ธ I’ll be home by then.

It was kind of a cold start to the morning – 25 degrees according to Big Red’s DIC. 📟 I started Big Red up for a few minutes this morning after I saw the voltage โšก drop on the starting battery 🔋 after opening the door due to the cold. It was a nice night and I was plenty warm under the covers but a bit cold after I got up until I turned on the heater and sat by it for a while. I could have set up the tent 🎪 but I knew if I had the tent I would have probably stayed in late warning myself next to the heater.

I made eggs and hash 🍳 for breakfast. It was a good breakfast along with a nice big cup of coffee โ˜•. Or three. Started a small fire to burn the camp trash and toilet paper, as the ground was too cold to easily bury it in a deep hole and the Porta Potties they have in the summer 🚻 have long been removed. Any poop 💩 that doesn’t burn hot buried in the ash and what wasn’t sanitized by this fire will be gone the next fire 🔥. Sat and watched the sun rise over the horizon โ˜€ about nine o’clock. Nice morning, not too cold after sunrise. Broke camp around 10.

Today will rain, mainly after 4pm. 🌧 High of 37 degrees at 1pm. Five degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical day around December 13th. Light southeast wind. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible. A year ago, we had mostly sunny skies in the morning, remaining cloudy in the afternoon. The high last year was 50 degrees. The record high of 71 was set in 1984. 6 inches of snow fell back in 1915.โ„

The sun will set at 4:33 pm with dusk around 5:05 pm, which is 44 seconds later than yesterday. 🌇 At sunset, look for rain 🌧 and temperatures around 35 degrees. There will be a calm wind. Today will have 9 hours and 3 minutes of daytime, an increase of 30 seconds over yesterday.

Tonight will rain and freezing rain, possibly mixed with sleet before 11pm, then freezing rain between 11pm and 2am, then rain, possibly mixed with freezing rain after 2am. Low of 31 degrees at 8pm. 15 degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical night around November 20th. East wind 6 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New ice accumulation of around a 0. 2 of an inch possible. Little or no sleet accumulation expected. In 2018, we had cloudy skies in the evening, which became mostly clear by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 23 degrees. The record low of -21 occurred back in 1933.

Forecast somewhat improved from Friday in Hector so I kind of wish I packed more clothes 👚 and food 🍲 so I could go out there but heading back to Glimmerglass is the wrong direction for the Finger Lakes. It still would have been a pretty cold and wet night camping up on Hector Backbone. Tuesday now promises to be better but who knows. It was a nice night 🌃 out in Madison County and it’s been a long time since I’ve been to either the Rogers Environmental Education Center or even the Moscow Hill Camping Area. It’s pretty nice there off season and it’s also right on the plowed, asphalt county road. Plus the sites are really reinforced so they’re not really muddy. This time Iucked out again and I didn’t have to burn any of the bagged wood I originally bought in November for that camping trip to the Adirondacks. I also much preferred the rural scenery to the Adirondacks – I go north too much.

I was really surprised how quiet it was up at camp. Very little traffic on Moscow Road at night, seems like most people turn the other way from Quaker Hill to head over to Hamilton. I heard the coyotes🐺 and what sounded like a weasal last night for a while 🐆 and occasionally moo of a cow from the beef farm 🐂 down the road and some tractor noises 🚜 this morning.

I am starting to think that the DEC plows the Moscow Camping Area loop โ›บ in the winter โ„ which would be cool if that’s true. I noticed that there appears to be some snow piles along the loop road but it could have just been a hunter who had a truck do it when they camped during big game season. But I’m thinking that they might do it for the snowmobile parking 🅿 but I’d be quite happy if I could come up here mid winter and have a place to camp and go cross country skiing 🎿. I don’t mind dragging my gear back a little ways on a sled or digging out a parking spot but I gotta have a place to park. Madison County can be kind of icy in the winter though and it looks like the steep and twisty county roads are mostly cleared with sand so that’s a consideration.

After cleaning my propane camp lantern 🏮 it now is super bright 🔆 again for the first time in years. I had forgotten what full output looked like. No soot on the globe either. It was just so plugged up with carbon probably because I usually run it for long periods on its lowest settings. I mostly run it as a backup in case the electric lights shut off due to an under voltage condition. I did crack the glass in it the last time I packed but it worked fine with the crack. I bought a second globe 🌐 last year but I’ve not yet had to use it.

The rechargeable LED lantern 🏮 I got for Christmas worked pretty good too. I don’t think it will replace the gas lantern for reliable all evening light in the winter but it is nice to have have something that is brighter than a flashlight, can be switched on and off, dimmed or brightened 🔆 and is lightweight, not corded and not hot like the lantern. Electric lights are fine but they have a cord. 🔌

They use a ton of sand 👡 on the roads in Madison County, especially the hills for traction. It’s certainly a lot better for the environment and cheaper but it covers everything with mud. All the cars are a deep brown. 🚙 Between the high moisture corn 🌽 the farms are hauling out, and the manure being spread on the fields 💩, and just the gray somewhat winter foggy 🌁 skies everything is so brown. But a nice shade of brown. I do like seeing the working land though and the freedom of rural life and maybe a handful of illicit burn barrels too. 🔥 Definitely a different experience than the Adirondacks. 🗻

As previously noted, next Sunday is National Bird Day 🐧 when the sun will be setting at 4:39 pm with dusk at 5:11 pm. On that day in 2019, we had rain and temperatures between 40 and 29 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 31 degrees. We hit a record high of 64 back in 1950.

Very much a classic stream and gully preserve

December 28, 2019 Afternoon

Good evening! Mostly clear and 33 degrees at Moscow Hill Camping Area in Brookfield. Calm wind as we are tucked down in the valley. Smoke is going straight up from the fire. Temperatures will drop below freezing at around 7 pm. โ˜ƒ๏ธ

Beautiful evening, mild for late December but the ground is still fairly frozen. โ›บ That said I’m sure these campsites have a thick pack of gravel because they’re trampled by horses 🐴 and heavy horse trailers and diesel pickup trucks all summer long. These sites have those nice little pavilions that the DEC has at a number of state forests in Central and Western New York. 🏡 They’re perfect for handing up lights and cooking and preparing food under. 🍲 I wish they had them up at Cherry Ridge 🍒 but only at the horse camp 🐴.

I was originally planning on going up to Cherry Ridge 🍒 but the road was icy as it’s plowed but not sanded or salted beyond the seasonal use only. I probably would have been fine going up it but there is that one steep section towards the top so I decided against it in favor of Moscow Hill horse camp. 🐴 The riding season is done for the year and while it’s right off of the county highway, there is very little traffic nearby, certainly far less than NY 8. I think I made a good choice camping here and I forgot how nice the pavilions are. Plus being only fifteen minutes away from Shurburne it made for a nice drive down there to visit the Rogers Environmental Education Center. 🐸 No cellphone here but I kind of enjoy the solitude. 📱

Tonight will be mostly cloudy 🌥, with a low of 26 degrees at 4am. Nine degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical night around December 4th. Light and variable wind. In 2018, we had cloudy skies in the evening, which became mostly clear by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 26 degrees. The record low of -18 occurred back in 1933.

Madison County certainly is a brown and gray as I noted earlier. But that’s winter and that how the land is. So many neat old farm houses and real rough cut farms that are super muddy after it being relatively mild. 🐮 Lots of run down trailers, modular homes and even a few shed to homes. Not too many off grinders although I bet in the future – especially with new homes you’ll see more of that, especially on dirt roads without electric lines. 🔌

While I didn’t grow up in a trailer or a farm 🚜 I’ve always loved the gritty rural life. 😍 The piles of junk and manure. 🔧 The goats 🐐 tied to the tree, the homesteaders processing their own deer and hogs 🐖. They call it poverty or ignorant rednecks but those people are a lot smarter and privledged than I. Someday I’ll own an off grid cabin 🏡 and do a little homesteading myself but I’ll never be a true country boy  like those who were raised the life in a place like Southern Madison County. Sure, a lot of my neighbors growing up raised pigs and cows, llved in trailers or modular homes and even burned their own trash 🔥 but I grew up in an ordinary house in the country to college educated 🎓 parents. They had goats and chickens 🐔 buy were no means real country boys.

Tonight will have a with 15% illuminated with the moon setting at 6:57 pm. It is definitely a pretty beautiful little moon. The is on Wednesday night with mostly cloudy skies. The is on Wednesday night. The sun will rise at 7:31 am with the first light at 6:59 am, which is 16 seconds later than yesterday. 🌄 Tonight will have 14 hours and 56 minutes of darkness, a decrease of 29 seconds over last night.

Tomorrow will rain likely, mainly after 4pm. Cloudy 🌧, with a high of 37 degrees at 1pm. Five degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical day around December 13th. Calm wind. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible. A year ago, we had cloudy skies. The high last year was 50 degrees. The record high of 71 was set in 1984. 6 inches of snow fell back in 1915.โ„

Tomorrow morning I’m taking down camp โ›บ and heading to Glimmerglass State Park before the rain โ˜”. As it is a fairly mild night, 🌃 I decided to not bother with the tent – I’ll be plenty warm once I get snuggled under the covers in my truck bed. I do like the warmth of the hot tent but it is a lot more work to set up and take down. If I were staying multiple nights or if it was colder I’d definitely had considered the tent.

Good evening! Mostly cloudy and 45 degrees in Delmar, NY. โ˜ There is a west breeze at 6 mph. 🍃. There is a inch of snow on the ground. โ˜ƒ ๏ธTemperatures will drop below freezing at tomorrow around 7 pm. โ˜ƒ๏ธ

The record high of 61 was set in 1982. 7 inches of snow fell back in 1967.โ„

Tomorrow should be a really nice day but not sure about the rest of the week. โ›บ As I noted I’m pulling the plug on going to the Finger Lakes through New Years Day but I’m thinking about going to the Adirondacks tomorrow. Or maybe Madison County? I got thinking I’d like to see a more rural landscape for a change. NY 8 is always so noisy to camp along and I might be camping in snow, pretty sure I will be up north. Snow can be bad if there is a big snow bank and nowhere to park up north. But I’m a bit concerned about snow and ice up on Brown Road in Brookfield.

At any rate, I’ve packed gear for one night 🌃 and I have enough food and supplies for one night camping trip without going to the store. Multiple nights would require buying more food and packing more clothes. I’ll study for the webcams in the morning. And the radar and satellite images.

I mean I really want to get away but not if it means I’ll get soaked, muddy or chilled through. Sure I can read books at home 📖, cook on the regular stove a fancy meal and even turn up the electric heat if I want but I’d rather be up in the wilderness where I can have a fire and listen to music and nature with my headphones off. 🎧 Working in the basement office with no windows kind of has me bummed out and with the early snow storm and getting Lyme disease I didn’t get out as much as I wanted this autumn. 🔥

White Rocks Overlook

December 26, 2019 Morning

Good morning! Happy Boxing Day ๐ŸฅŠ! Good day for burning all those boxes ๐Ÿ”ฅ that the Christmas presents ๐Ÿ“ฆ came in. Although I guess the greenies say the rednecks of the world should recycle โ™ป them. Apparently recycling cardboard is a good idea. Probably good for soaking up mud too. Christmas ๐ŸŽ„ is over, now they can go back to playing Freda Paine ๐Ÿ’ for the hundred ๐Ÿ’ฏ millionth time on the radio ๐Ÿ“ป. Or whatever is trendy these days, although Band of Gold is pretty singable. Does anybody even listen ๐Ÿ‘‚ to commercial radio anymore in the era of the MP3? I rarely do. Two weeks to Static Electric Shock Day ๐Ÿงผ๐ŸŒฉ. I fully expect it to be cold and dry enough then to get a good shock. ๐Ÿ˜ฎ I know in the state office building I used to work in the air was purty dry.

This morning is partly cloudy โ›… around freezing degrees at the Elm Ave Park & Ride – CDTA. Calm wind ๐Ÿƒ. Not a half bad morning for late December. Bus is running on time ๐Ÿš Going to be another mild day, they’re is a trooper sitting at the Southern Boulevard Bridge. ๐ŸŒ‰ 45 mph section so probably not a lot of speeders but maybe he’s sitting up there looking for people yapping on their cellphones ๐Ÿ“ฑ. I know I can’t talk and drive, I find it hard to remember things when driving like what day of week it is. That said, I drive so little and when I’m on the road I often are in the sticks where there ain’t reception ๐Ÿ“ถ. I really should hook the bluetooth back up with my phone on my truck, it got reset the last time I reset my phone. But I use it so rarely, it’s hardly needed.

Today will be mostly cloudy ๐ŸŒฅ, with a high of 41 degrees at 2pm. Eight degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical day around December 3rd. Light and variable wind. A year ago, we had mostly sunny skies in the morning, remaining cloudy in the afternoon. The high last year was 35 degrees. The record high of 59 was set in 1895. 13.9 inches of snow fell back in 1969.โ„

The sun will set at 4:27 pm with dusk around 4:59 pm, which is 39 seconds later than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ‡ At sunset, look for mostly cloudy skies โ˜ and temperatures around 40 degrees. There will be a calm wind. Today will have 9 hours and 3 minutes of daytime, an increase of 18 seconds over yesterday.

Tonight will have a chance of rain showers, snow showers, freezing rain, and sleet before midnight, then a chance of rain showers between midnight and 3am, then a chance of freezing rain after 3am. Sounds, charming, eh? I actually thought about leaving work on Friday early and driving out to Madison County but I decided it against it based on the forecast. Cloudyโ˜” , with a low of 32 degrees at 9pm. 15 degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical night around November 16th. South wind 6 to 11 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40%. Little or no snow and sleet accumulation expected. In 2018, we had light snow in the evening, which became mostly clear by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 24 degrees. The record low of -18 occurred back in 1914.

This weekend is going to very mild as especially out in the Finger Lakes but will end with a pretty good rain storm. Saturday, partly sunny, with a high near 43. Northwest wind 5 to 9 mph becoming light in the afternoon. โ˜€ Sunday, a chance of rain after 2pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 44. Chance of precipitation is 50%.โ˜” Typical average high for the weekend is 32 degrees. It looks like Sunday evening into the Monday morning will be a good soaker, but I will bring extra tarps and books to read in the tent if it’s cold and wet.๐ŸŒง The heater will get keep the tent real comfortable. โ™จGood warm meals will be good even if it’s rainy,ย  ๐Ÿ‘จโ€๐Ÿณ and if I gather plenty of wood up on Saturday into Sunday, ๐Ÿช“ I’ll have enough for a good fire on Monday and New Years Eve.๐Ÿ”ฅ

Never got around to testing the propane lantern. ๐Ÿฎ I think it’s working fine though, and I’m not sure what else I can do to repair it besides knock out that shit ton of carbon that I already knocked out of it. ๐Ÿฎ๐Ÿ’จ I realized if I tested it at home, I’d end up with a ton of propane in the line, that I’d have to burn out, and with only the latern hooked up, the pressure is such that it can take 15-20 minutes for all the propane to burn out of the line. I’ll bring a wrench to camp in case I need further adjustments, but I think it will work well now. ๐Ÿ”ง

As previously noted, there are 2 weeks until Static Electric Shock Day ๐Ÿงผ ๐ŸŒฉ when the sun will be setting at 4:40 pm with dusk at 5:11 pm. On that day in 2019, we had rain and temperatures between 40 and 32 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 30 degrees. We hit a record high of 62 back in 2008.

Eleven degrees doesn't seem that bad

December 25, 2019 Morning

Good morning! Merry Christmas 🎅! Yes, you are still allowed to say that in Trump’s America. That said, don’t say that next Wednesday or you’ll look absurd on the first day of 2020. Next Wednesday is New Years Day 🎉 . I’ll be having coffee โ˜• and tearing down camp โ›บ around this time next week.

So, yes a Merry Christmas to you 🎄. Keep Christ in Christmas. It’s a good excuse to have a bonfire 🔥 with all that wrapping paper 📦 and Styrofoam that of course after dark to avoid the black smoke 💨 and when the wind is blowing the opposite way of the obnoxious neighbor a quarter mile down the road. โ›ฒ And celebrate Christ 🎂 who was born in a manager full of hay when the cow and goats were kicked out of his barn. 🐮 I bet all that was compostable and Jesus’ 👶 bedding was spread on the fields and allowed to rot into fertilizer that made the corn 🌽 grow better than it otherwise would. โž• Miracle grow. Those manure spreaders with the vertical beaters really do a good at getting an even spread of the organic matter compared to the old style spreaders but they probably weren’t as common in Jesus’ time. 💩

But this morning has times of clouds and sun around thirty degrees in Delmar, NY. Calm wind. Maybe not all that impressive of a White Christmas. โ„ There are 1.5 inches of snow on the ground. โ˜ƒ Probably that’s racist nowadays. Especially with climate change and all those boys and girls in Pennsyltucky and Missouri making black smoke. 🌎 ๏ธThings will start to thaw out at around 11 am. 🌡๏ธ See already the planet, as defined by Albany, the center of the universe 🌌 is getting warmer.

Christmas Day 🎄 will be a nice one, mostly sunny 🌞, with a high of 39 degrees at 2pm. Six degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical day around December 7th. I’ll take such nice weather. Calm wind becoming south around 6 mph in the afternoon. A year ago, we had mostly sunny skies in the morning with some clearing in the afternoon. The high last year was 35 degrees. The record high of 66 was set in 1889. 19.2 inches of snow fell back in 2002.โ„ Funny thing is that I don’t really remember that snow storm when I was a sophomore in college. 🎓

The sun will set at 4:27 pm with dusk around 4:59 pm, which is 37 seconds later than yesterday. 🌇 So that much later. I’ll get fifteen plus minutes in Finger Lakes. At sunset, look for partly sunny skies 🌃 and temperatures around 38 degrees. There will be a south breeze at 5 mph. Today will have 9 hours and 3 minutes of daytime, an increase of 14 seconds over yesterday.

I should get out and do something fun today but I have like no fuel โ›ฝ in my truck and I don’t know if they sell gasoline on the Christmas 🎄 or maybe that is just my excuse not to spend any money on the holiday. It might be fun to ski at Partridge Run as they still have snow up there. 🎿 I guess my parents are making Christmas dinner 🍲 so I’ll go out there and maybe I can stop somewhere on the way out there. Depends on how nice the weather is. I’ll have plenty of a chance to hike and ski in the Finger Lakes and split wood, etc. 🗻 I can always just get my steps in walking around the neighborhood and riding the excercise bike 🚲.

Tonight will be mostly cloudy 🌥, with a low of 24 degrees at 6am. Six degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical night around December 9th. Light and variable wind. In 2018, we had mostly clear skies in the evening, which became mostly clear by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 19 degrees. The record low of -17 occurred back in 1914.

Now it looks like Monday will be wetter then Sunday, especially in the Finger Lakes. 💦 Saturday, partly sunny, with a high near 41. Should be a good day for the drive and setting up camp. โ›บ Sunday, a chance of rain after 1pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 50 in the Finger Lakes. Chance of precipitation is 50%. Still not expecting a wash out but it might be a good day for reading 📖 and cooking 🍳 at camp. And having a fire and burning stuff. 🔥 Typical average high for the weekend is 32 degrees. Freezing cold but I won’t be with my big ass heater.

As previously noted, next Wednesday is New Years Day 2020 🎉 when I’ll be heading back home 🏡 and the sun will be setting at 4:32 pm with dusk at 5:04 pm in the Albany. On that day in 2019, we had mostly cloudy, a rather mild day with rain showers and temperatures between 53 and 27 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 31 degrees. We hit a record high of 57 back in 1966.

Pine Creek

December 22, 2019 Morning

Good morning! Happy Days are Getting Longer โ˜€๏ธ! Summer is coming in another six months but winter and black fly season is first! Two weeks to National Bird Day 🐧. Partly sunny and 27 degrees in Delmar, NY. There is a south breeze at 5 mph. 🍃. There is a inch of snow on the ground. โ˜ƒ ๏ธThings will start to thaw out at around 11 am. 🌡๏ธ

This morning started out cloudy โ›… but it is quickly clearing. Not sure if the voltage switch โšก is going to hit the 14.0 volts to turn on, if not I may set it lower at least on an experimental basis. I also think I’ll reduce the anti-retrip mode down from 8 minutes to 60 seconds. It’s worthwhile experimenting to see what produces the maximum charge on both batteries. 🔋

I got to take a shower 🚿 and then head to the store 🏬 before the crowds get there. 🍖 I also have some beer cans to return from my November camping trip 🍻 as last time the machine was full so I didn’t return them all. I want to test the gas lantern 🏮 and get that ready for my camping trip next.

I had waffles for breakfast 🍳 but I’m going to have to get more waffle mix if I want to have more next week. The nice thing is that I only have to work Monday next week and then I have Christmas Eve and Christmas Day off. 🎄 I doubt they’re going to be much snow left for the holidays as we lost a fair amount of snow yesterday and even more should disappear after today’s sun and warmth.

Today will be mostly sunny 🌞, with a high of 39 degrees at 2pm. Five degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical day around December 7th. South wind around 6 mph. Yeah, save on the heat. โ™จ A year ago, we had cloudy skies in the morning, which became light snow by afternoon. The high last year was 59 degrees. The record high of 60 was set in 1990. 12.3 inches of snow fell back in 1969.โ„ It looks like this year though we are going to end it snow free. 🚫I’m fine with that as snow can be problematic while camping โ›บ although mud much more so. 🐽

The sun will set at 4:25 pm with dusk around 4:57 pm, which is 30 seconds later than yesterday. 🌇 At sunset, look for mostly clear skies 🌃 and temperatures around 35 degrees. There will be a south breeze at 6 mph. Today will have 9 hours and 2 minutes of daytime, a decrease of over yesterday.

Tonight will be mostly clear 🌃, with a low of 26 degrees at 5am. Seven degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical night around December 4th. Southwest wind 3 to 6 mph. In 2018, we had light snow in the evening, which became mostly clear by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 31 degrees. The record low of -12 occurred back in 1955.

A week from now I will be having my first camp breakfast 🍳 and splitting firewood. 🔥 I just hope it’s not too cloudy โ˜ and damp but there is a lot that could change in the forecast by then. If it’s nice, I’ll enjoy sitting down by Seneca Lake in Clute Park or doing some cross country skiing if a little bit of snow remains, which seems increasingly unlikely now. 🎿

As previously noted, there are 2 weeks until National Bird Day 🐧 when the sun will be setting at 4:35 pm with dusk at 5:07 pm. On that day in 2019, we had rain and temperatures between 40 and 29 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 31 degrees. We hit a record high of 64 back in 1950.

White Rocks Overlook

December 5, 2019 Night

Good evening! Partly cloudy and 25 degrees in Delmar, NY. โ›… There is a west-northwest breeze at 11 mph. ๐Ÿƒ. The current wind chill is 14.ย  At times, there is a definite breeze, but it’s helping to melt away the snow. There are 17 inches of snow on the ground. โ˜ƒ ๏ธThings will start to thaw out at tomorrow around 2 pm. ๐ŸŒก๏ธ Some melting but they’re is still a lot of snow and more expected tomorrow into Saturday.

When I first got home, I looked out the window and saw the reflection of what appeared to be a massive fire ๐Ÿ”ฅ reflected in the window. I was a little concerned but as soon as I saw it, within a few seconds the flames disappeared. I wasn’t sure what it is, it turned out to be a barbecue grill they had just lit with a lot of lighter fluid, plus the reflection off the snow. I obviously, if I was in the country, I wouldn’t have thought twice — or even looking out back where they have a fire pit. Heck, some day when I live out in the country, I’ll have lots of fires from heating to bonfires to waste disposal.โ™ป

This evening I went to Tom Ellis presentation over hydroelectric dams and the proposed Champlain Valley power line that would run under the Hudson River. ๐Ÿ”Œ If built it would bring a lot more Quebec hydroelectric to New York City but also encourage construction ๐Ÿšง of many mega dams in New York City. Very problematic. Attendance was light as the County Legislature was having their public hearing on the straws only on request law (one of the silly anti-plastic laws that gives the greenies ๐Ÿ’š a boner ๐Ÿ†) and also a presentation on the towns road diet for Delaware Avenue ๐Ÿšง.

I fixed the code and will post the updated weather tables to the blog tomorrow. โ˜€๐ŸŒฆ Some of the data now is a year old and when I went to run the update script it didn’t work due to changes in the NOAA data report format. But I updated the fields names and its working again.

Finished off the last of the Thanksgiving dinner left overs today ๐Ÿ— after reading a post on Facebook reminding me that Thanksgiving was a week ago. I know in a few days even if I left it in the fridge things would start to mold up. Refrigeration doesn’t stop mold or bacteria growth, it only slows it. See I’m learning something from the book I’m reading on butchering livestock. ๐Ÿ”ช

Road the exercise bike ๐Ÿšฒ some more, watched some of Imagine Acre Woods YouTube, another one of those North Idaho off grid pig farmers ๐Ÿฝ who happens to know North Country Off Grid too. Quite the handlebar mustache he has but I guess if you live off grid by oil lamp, raise hogs and yaks – hairy tough cows ๐Ÿฎ – you can do what you want. He does a lot of trout fishing and camping too on his channel but that’s what you do in North Idaho I guess. Looks like fun.
