June 20, 2021 Evening

Good evening! Partly clear and 82 degrees in Delmar, NY. There is a south breeze at 8 mph. πŸƒ. The dew point is 62 degrees. Back home again, as John Denver once sung. 🎢 Remarkably hot, especially now that I am back home after having a nice Sunday dinner at the folks house. πŸ‘• Slowly unpacking my gear from camping, taking steps to drink and cool down.

Well, happy summer folks. ☺ The next ten weeks through Labor Day Weekend are considered real summer when the state parks pools are open and the days are relatively long. πŸ– Nice hot summer days to spend at the pool or swimming hole. 🏊🏻‍♂️ Do some fishing 🎣 late into the night.

It was a beautiful trip back across the Mohawk Valley and through the Schoharie Valley. Everything was very green and lush.  It was a nice weekend up north, although Friday night was very wet. β˜” It drizzled for a while and then when I went for a good walk up to the Potholers it poured and I got completely soaked. πŸ’¦ It was decent all three days up north although I have to say that today was the best of the week. That said, much too short. πŸ‡ Time flies, especially when it’s rare that I am not out of town for four or more nights, in the era of remote work. But I decided I should come home tonight, because I need to at minimum move to a new campsite.

It was three nights up in the wilderness, πŸ• camping up at House Pond, spending much of Friday during the day drinking, 🍺 reading, πŸ“• writing, ✍ and hanging down at the Swimming Hole by the House Pond Campsite. 🏊‍♀️ It was nice but the water was a bit cold to say the least. πŸ›Ά Saturday, was kayaking from Stewart Landing up to Lily Lake. I didn’t go much into West Lake because I wanted to be close to back to Stewart Landing by 2 pm as they were threatening severe storms by afternoon, which never materialized. Instead, I spent the evening reading, and then down at the same swimming hole on the East Canada Creek. 🏊‍♀️ Most of Sunday was spent slowly taking down camp after a nice breakfast πŸ₯ž then the majority of the day the Potholers. I forgot how much nicer the Potholers are with the flowing water and potholes compared to any ordinary swimming hole on a nice summer day. It’s good to be back there!

Tonight will be mostly cloudy πŸŒ₯, with a low of 69 degrees at 5am. 10 degrees above normal. Maximum dew point of 66 at 3am. South wind around 8 mph. Probably need the fan on all evening. In 2020, we had mostly clear skies. It was somewhat humid. It got down to 69 degrees. The record low of 41 occurred back in 1970.

I thought about staying over the folks house, πŸ‘ͺ but I was tired and wanted to get home. It has been a nice weekend, but alas I should get ready for the work week and get my camping gear put away. I also want to get the volt meter out before dark, and try to figure out why the relay isn’t closing between the starting and accessory batteries when the engine is on or the solar is outputting enough to top off both batteries. πŸ”‹ That was annoying that wasn’t working this weekend.

Tonight will have a Waxing Gibbous πŸŒ” Moon with 81% illuminated. At 7 PM, the moon was in the southeast (139°) at an altitude of 26° from the horizon, some 226,818 miles away from where you are looking up from the earth. πŸš€ At the state speed limit of 55 mph, you’ll make it there by December 9th. Buckle up for safety! πŸ’Ί The Strawberry πŸ“ Moon is on Thursday, June 24. The darkest hour is at 12:58 am, followed by dawn at 4:43 am, and sun starting to rise at 5:18 am in the east-northeast (57°) and last for 3 minutes and 28 seconds. Sunrise is 11 seconds later than yesterday. πŸŒ„ The golden hour ends at 6:01 am with sun in the east-northeast (64°). Tonight will have 8 hours and 41 minutes of darkness, a decrease of 2 seconds over last night.

Tomorrow will have a chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 4pm. Some of the storms could produce small hail, gusty winds, and heavy rain. Mostly sunny 🌞, with a high of 89 degrees at 3pm. Eight degrees above normal. Maximum dew point of 71 at 11am. South wind 10 to 17 mph, with gusts as high as 29 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms. A year ago, we had partly cloudy skies in the morning with some clearing in the afternoon. It was somewhat humid. The high last year was 92 degrees. The record high of 97 was set in 1938.

Friday turned out to be a very late start heading north. 🚍 I decided not to drive downtown as I’m out of practice with parallel parking and I hate dealing with rush hour traffic. πŸš™ So I took the bus home and packed the coolers but ended up having to run to the grocery store to get all the things I didn’t previously pack. But at least the nights are long, and I had plenty of time to get set up, gather some firewood πŸ”₯ and get things going.

The relay that connects the alternator – starting battery πŸ”‹ to the accessory batteries quit working on the way up to camp. Not sure if it’s the exciter wire that broke or the relay is seized. It was fine, I had lots of sun β˜€ for the solar so all was good. I stopped on Friday to try to get figure out the issue but nothing obvious. I’ll test this evening or tomorrow with the volt meter. ⚑ It’s possible that the big old can relay failed from the occasional clatter of the relay when clouds appear on a sunny day, although I think I have mostly arrested that by adjusting settings on the voltage control. I am betting the wire is just broken.

In four weeks on July 18 the sun will be setting in the west-northwest (300°) at 8:29 pm,πŸŒ„ which is 7 minutes and 24 seconds earlier then today. In 2020 on that day, we had hot and sunny weather with shallow fog in the morning and temperatures between 87 and 59 degrees. Typically, you have temperatures between 84 and 63 degrees. The record high of 100 degrees was set back in 1953.

By then, I hope to be on my summer vacation. 😎 I am thinking the Finger Lakes National Forest and the state parks circuit I normally do, finding new places to hike or explore. I kind of like that campsite I stayed at last year without cell service, because I find do a lot more reading and thinking if I’m camping somewhere without cell service, 🀫 the quiet with no Facebook quite nice. πŸ“± I admit I am a bit of social media addict, even if my own postings to social media are a bit more asinine as I hate all the creepy commercial advertising that follows you around the internet, especially the green schemes.

Looking ahead, Independence Day πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ is Next Sunday, World Population Day πŸ‘©‍πŸ‘©‍πŸ‘§‍πŸ‘§ is in 3 weeks, Ugly Truck Day 🚚 is a month away, August 🌻 is in 6 weeks, Buck Moon πŸŒ• is in 9 weeks, Halloween πŸŽƒ is in 19 weeks, Average High is 50 πŸ‚ is in 21 weeks, Regular Deer Season in Southern Zone 🦌 is in 5 months, Repeal of Prohibition Day 🍺 is in 24 weeks, Cold Moon πŸŒ• is in 26 weeks and Boxing Day πŸ₯Š is in 27 weeks.

 Yesterday On Lake Pleasant

June 5, 2021 Morning

Good morning! Today is the first 8:30 PM Sunset ️⛱️ . Actually a bit later here as I’m farther to the west here in the Adirondacks. Two weeks to Average High is 80 πŸ– . Mostly sunny and 69 degrees at Mason Lake. There is a west-southwest breeze at 13 mph. πŸƒ. The dew point is 57 degrees. The breeze this morning is nice and keeping the bugs in control. 🐜 Last night until dusk the black flies were bad but this morning with the low humidity, they aren’t bad at all.

Today will be mostly sunny 🌞, with a high of 83 degrees at 2pm. Six degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical day around June 28th. Maximum dew point of 57 at 10am. West wind 13 to 17 mph, with gusts as high as 28 mph. Up north with that breeze it should be pretty nice. Back in Albany I bet they are roasting. A year ago, we had partly cloudy skies in the morning with some clearing in the afternoon. It was sticky. The high last year was 85 degrees. The record high of 97 was set in 1925.

I am planning a pretty lazy day on the hammock, 😴 maybe doing some fishing 🎣, day drinking 🍻, laying in the hammock and possibly a swim πŸŠπŸ»β€β™‚οΈ. I don’t feel real ambitious, going to be a hot one and truth be told, I just want a day and away from it all. Between that fire at Mr. Wolcott’s house to issues I have in my own life, to everything that’s been going on in my life its but wild. πŸ€ͺ I just want a weekend with nothing crazy going on, just quiet and relaxing. Next week is going to be really busy and there might be some work projects today so I’m camping πŸ• here at Mason Lake where I know I have good cell service πŸ“±. Lots of laying back.

Solar noon 🌞 is at 12:57 pm with sun having an altitude of 69Β° from the due south horizon (-0.8Β° vs. 6/21). A six foot person will cast a 2.3 foot shadow today compared to 2.2 feet on the first day of summer. The golden hour πŸ… starts at 7:53 pm with the sun in the west-northwest (296Β°). πŸ“Έ The sunset is in the west-northwest (303Β°) with the sun dropping below the horizon at 8:36 pm after setting for 3 minutes and 29 seconds with dusk around 9:10 pm, which is 43 seconds later than yesterday. πŸŒ‡ The best time to look at the stars is after 9:57 pm. At sunset, look for partly cloudy skies πŸŒƒ and temperatures around 75 degrees. The dew point will be 54 degrees. There will be a west breeze at 15 mph. Today will have 15 hours and 18 minutes of daytime, an increase of one minute and 4 seconds over yesterday.

Tonight will be partly cloudy 🌀, with a low of 63 degrees at 4am. Eight degrees above normal. Maximum dew point of 54 at 6pm. West wind 10 to 15 mph. In 2020, we had mostly clear skies in the evening, which became partly cloudy by the early hours of the morning. It was humid. It got down to 60 degrees. The record low of 38 occurred back in 1971.

Yesterday when I went to boot windows for the Zoom Meeting πŸ“Ή the silly windows took 25 minutes to boot so my cover was blown that I was working from the Adirondacks as I had to connect using my phone without the virtual background. It’s the worst kept secret ever that I often work from the Adirondacks when working remotely. πŸ—» Sometimes technology fails but I made my meeting and work gets done. I really hope they keep the remote hybrid model at work, however their is a lot of resistance to that.

As previously noted, there are 2 weeks until Average High is 80 πŸ– when the sun will be setting at 8:42 pm with dusk at 9:18 pm. On that day in 2020, we had hot, partly cloudy and temperatures between 88 and 70 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 80 degrees. We hit a record high of 94 back in 1995.

That weekend in two weeks is going to be the Juneteenth weekend β›Ί which I am thinking would be perfect for some quiet time with no cell service πŸ”• and no internet at Piseco-Powley Road. As much as I like being connected to the world its nice to be off the grid spending a lot of day at the Potholers or maybe better yet that campsite at the House Pond Campsite with the swimming πŸŠπŸ»β€β™‚οΈ hole nearby if I can get it. Come July, definitely want to check out the renovated Mine Kill Pool and Burnt Rossman Hills Forest and then of course summer vacation in the Finger Lakes. 🏞

Upper Beaver Pond

May 23, 2021 Morning

Good morning! Happy Sunday. β›ͺ Three weeks to Fathers Day πŸ‘¨ . Partly cloudy and 71 degrees in Delmar, NY. β›… There is a west-northwest breeze at 9 mph. πŸƒ. The dew point is 63 degrees. Not a really nice morning, kind of muggy to boot. 😰

Sat out back until nearly midnight πŸŒƒ, as it was kind of a warm evening and it was nice for sitting out back. I ended up watching some YouTube on my phone, working on some blog posts πŸ“ and just pondering the night away. Sometimes on real hot days I like to stay out back until late.

Today will have a chance of showers, with thunderstorms β›ˆ also possible after 2pm. Partly sunny 🌦, with a high of 81 degrees at 1pm. Eight degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical day around June 20th. Maximum dew point of 63 at 7am. Northwest wind 9 to 14 mph, with gusts as high as 24 mph. Hot and muggy like late June but the breeze and clouds it hopefully won’t be that oppressive. 😰 Chance of precipitation is 30%. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms. A year ago, we had mostly sunny skies. It was somewhat humid. The high last year was 85 degrees. The record high of 93 was set in 1964.

At sunset, look for partly cloudy skies πŸŒƒ and temperatures around 65 degrees. The dew point will be 51 degrees. There will be a north breeze at 11 mph. Today will have 14 hours and 53 minutes of daytime, an increase of one minute and 43 seconds over yesterday.

We hit a record high of 94 back in 1892.

 Farm Field

April 11, 2021 Morning

Good morning! Happy Sunday. Next Sunday the Average High is 60. Partly cloudy and 58 degrees at the Five Rivers Environmental Education Center. 🌀️There is a southeast breeze at 6 mph. πŸƒ. The dew point is 52 degrees. The skies will clear Wednesday around 8 pm.

This morning I decided to walk down to Five Rivers 🐦 with my binoculars, scope out some birds and wildlife, enjoy the sun before the clouds push in for the day. 🚢🏻 Right now it’s a pretty nice morning but it’s not expected to last. Seeing a lot of wildlife at Five Rivers, the woodchuck is still hanging out under Radley Barn, spotted a different muskrat in a different pond today, red winged black bird, geese, chickadee, among others.

Today will have showers, mainly after 4pm. Cloudy 🌦, with a high of 64 degrees at 2pm. Eight degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical day around April 28th. Maximum dew point of 54 at 1pm. Southeast wind 6 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible. A year ago, we had cloudy skies in the morning with a few breaks of sun the afternoon. The high last year was 50 degrees. The record high of 87 was set in 2017. 1.7 inches of snow fell back in 1942.❄

This afternoon, I will head home and then out to the folks house for Sunday dinner. 🍲 Probably get there early so I can leave before dark with rain predicted. β˜” I don’t like driving in the rain after dark especially if I can avoid it on the rural roads.

Solar noon 🌞 is at 12:57 pm with sun having an altitude of 55.8Β° from the due south horizon (-15Β° vs. 6/21). A six foot person will cast a 4.1 foot shadow today compared to 2.2 feet on the first day of summer. The golden hour πŸ… starts at 6:56 pm with the sun in the west (276Β°). πŸ“Έ The sunset is in the west-northwest (282Β°) with the sun dropping below the horizon at 7:33 pm after setting for 2 minutes and 57 seconds with dusk around 8:02 pm, which is one minute and 9 seconds later than yesterday. πŸŒ‡ The best time to look at the stars is after 8:37 pm. At sunset, look for rain 🌧 and temperatures around 59 degrees. The dew point will be 49 degrees. There will be a east-southeast breeze at 9 mph. Today will have 13 hours and 13 minutes of daytime, an increase of 2 minutes and 49 seconds over yesterday.

Tonight will have showers. 🌧 Low of 44 degrees at 6am. Eight degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical night around May 4th. East wind 6 to 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible. In 2020, we had clear skies in the evening, which became partly cloudy by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 29 degrees. The record low of 13 occurred back in 1874.

Yesterday, I went out to the Massachusetts – New York line πŸ—» and hiked the Taconic Skyline ATV Trail to the CCC trail then down along the Taconic Crest Hiking Trail back to my truck. It was a nice day with lots of wildlife to observe. 🐸 Only saw one other person all day. Been taking photos with my good camera πŸ“Έ so I’ll have to upload them later.

While the week’s weather forecast isn’t great I have a lot planned. 🎣 Tuesday is my second COVID shot πŸ’‰ and therapy session πŸ‘€, and I have Friday off to spend a long weekend in the woods doing some fishing and camping. β›Ί Probably the ADKs but not opposed to Central NY if weather is better. The forecast isn’t perfect but it looks like we will be getting some rain β˜” this week which should make having a small fire πŸ”₯ up in the woods relatively safe if I drown the coals when done. πŸ’¦ Looking forward to having the COVID shot done, and I think if I’m very transparent and forecoming in my therapy sessions it will be a a good investment – a hundred or two bucks in copay for higher wages πŸ’΅ and more confidence down the road.

As previously noted, next Sunday the Average High is 60 🌷 when the sun will be setting at 7:41 pm with dusk at 8:10 pm. On that day in 2020, we had snow showers, partly cloudy skies and temperatures between 49 and 34 degrees. Kind of a cold day. We hit a record high of 90 back in 1976.

Camping in Green Mountains National Forest

Green Mountain National Forest Camping πŸ•

Here is a full-screen interactive map, that uses the official forest service maps as a backdrop. You will need to zoom in to see the individual roads.

In the Green Mountain National Forest there are a variety of back country roads, offering primitive roadside camping.

  • Campsites are free to use, and have no facilities except for a fire ring and a pull-off from the road, and sometimes a site reinforced with gravel.
  • As noted below, some campsites have additional facilities.
  • Don’t make a mess of campsites, pack out any garbage left over.
  • Burn only dead and down trees, don’t bring in wood from out of state.
  • You can camp up to 14 days per 30 day period in Green Mountain National Forest — no permits are required.

Here is a listing of the campsite coordinates in a spreadsheet (Green Mountain tab). Please note, these coordinates are not exact as they are drawn based on memory.

Please see also information on dispersed, roadside and back-country camping in New York State, Pennsylvania and West Virginia.

The below descriptions of camping areas from the Green Mountain National Forest’s webpage, General Forest Camping.

North Half of the Green Mountain National Forest

Note: You must zoom in to see individual roads on above interactive map. Campsite locations were added by hand-digitizing and are not exact.

Austin Brook Road: There are three easily accessible campsites by Austin Brook on Forest Road 25 in Warren. They are all within 0.25 mile of State Route 100.

Campsite 4

Bingo: Forest Road 42 in Rochester runs alongside a mountain stream; camping is allowed at designated sites only. These 10 campsites are available on a first-come, first-served basis. There is a limit of 10 people per site. Check the Bingo Brook bulletin board for designated site locations and other site limitations.

Downingville: There is one secluded site in a small clearing near a mountain stream on Forest Road 291 in Lincoln.

Fay’s Meadow: There are a few sites in an open meadow in Forest Dale. Please do not drive on the meadow because a farmer mows the hay from it. There is a stream for wading and fishing at the north end of the meadow.

Goshen Brook Road: There are a few campsites in and around an open area just beyond the turnaround at the very end of Forest Road 67 in Ripton.

Kettle Brook: A small meadow site at the end of Furnace Brook Road in Pittsford.

Michigan Brook Road: Forest Road 35 in Pittsfield provides many camping opportunities in the woods and along Michigan Brook. The road is not recommended for low clearance vehicles.

South Half of the Green Mountain National Forest

Note: You must zoom in to see individual roads on above interactive map. Campsite locations were added by hand-digitizing and are not exact.

 Campfire

Branch Pond Road: Several sites on this road off of Kelley Stand offer good camping opportunities.

Making Breakfast at Camp

Forest Road 71: This forest road stretches from the old Somerset airfield to the Kelley Stand Road. Campsites can be found in various spots along the way, and along some of the forest roads leading off of Forest Road 71.

Forest Road 74: This forest road is a little less remote than other roadside camping opportunities. Off Vermont Route 9, it dead-ends a couple miles in. Campsites are found unevenly spaced along the way. This area fills up early as it’s one of most accessible.

Kelley Stand Road: Connects the towns of Arlington to West Wardsboro, traveling along an unpaved forest road. A handful of campsites are avaliable on this road, many of the sites along Roaring Brook are permanetly closed.

Morning

Old Job: Off Forest Road 30 there are a few camping opportunities; an open area along FR 30, and both an open field area and a site near Lake Brook at the end of FR 30.

Somerset Road Bridge

Somerset Airfield Campground is a small primitive campground along Forest Road 71. There is a pit-privy and fireplaces in this field camping area. Also popular is Castle Brook Road, near the Deerfield River. This area fills up early, and is known for rowdy crowds but is good if you have a big camper.

January 2, 2021 Morning

Good morning! Happy Saturday on this first weekend of the New Year! Twenty Twenty One.Β 2️⃣0️⃣2️⃣1️⃣ Tomorrow is week 1️⃣, officially. Hopefully a time of change, we will have a new president in 20. πŸ•΄ Or well, maybe a throw back from the way-back machine. πŸ‘΄ Normalcy this year with the vaccine? Adults in the White House? No more midnight crazy tweeting? I am glad I deleted my Twitter and Facebook accounts, and created new private ones for browsing only. Honest. No more inappropriate comments except my own on the blog. It feels good. Next Saturday is Static Electric Shock Day 🧼. Be careful when you are referenced to ground this time of year. ⚑ That dry air, walking over carpet can make some good shocks and make your hair look wild. πŸ€ͺ Not that you’d know with the pandemic and working from home. Rain and 33 degrees in Delmar, NY. β˜” There is a south breeze at 7 mph. πŸƒ. There is two inches of snow on the ground. β˜ƒ ️Temperatures will drop below freezing at around 7 pm. β˜ƒοΈ

While it looks like it was mostly snow up north, 🌨 I am thinking I am glad to be back home as it would have been kind of a cold and wet morning, and I enjoyed sleeping in my bed at home. The tent was fine but the ground was hard sleeping on a sheet of ice, below the ground tarp and layers of sleeping pads of course. But with the ice and snow, I’d probably be stuck up north, and I’m not sure how early it would clear out. Plus I enjoyed hiking back to Stewart Creek 🚢 yesterday, although that drone 🚁 was a bit odd to see fly over head when your in the wilderness. But I tell you, drone footage sure is cool. πŸ“½ That said, I had fun on Campsite 7 on East Branch and I’m thinking I might do another winter camping trip, hopefully for multiple nights, should the weather cooperate later in the winter. The trick is to bring a shovel, park at Cod Pond, then dig out enough space on the driveway before carefully backing in. πŸ…Ώ

Today will rain and sleet likely before 10am, then a chance of rain between 10am and 3pm. 🌧 Cloudy, then gradually becoming mostly sunny 🌦, with a high of 41 degrees at 1pm. 10 degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical day around March 7th. Breezy, with a south wind 7 to 12 mph becoming west 17 to 22 mph in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 37 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. Little or no sleet accumulation expected. A year ago, we had partly cloudy skies in the morning with some clearing in the afternoon. The high last year was 45 degrees. The record high of 61 was set in 1890. 7.1 inches of snow fell back in 2014.❄

Today I am planning on going out to the folks house later. πŸ‘ͺ We are doing a socially-distanced fondue, which I know seems like a stretch but I guess it involves masks, 😷 a soup ladle πŸ₯„ and sitting on opposite sides of the room. ↕ Or something like that. It’s not like any of us go out anymore anywhere, with everything shutting down. πŸ§€ And who knows, time is tight and limited. πŸ‘΅ Tomorrow with the snow coming, I’ll stay home, well except maybe for the evening walk.

Solar noon 🌞 is at 12:00 pm with sun having an altitude of 24.5Β° from the due south horizon (-46.3Β° vs. 6/21). A long ways until summer but right now the transit is perfectly at noon. A six foot person will cast a 13.2 foot shadow today compared to 2.2 feet on the first day of summer. The golden hour πŸ… starts at 3:49 pm with the sun in the southwest (231Β°). πŸ“Έ The sunset is in the west-southwest (239Β°) with the sun dropping below the horizon at 4:34 pm after setting for 3 minutes and 24 seconds with dusk around 5:05 pm, which is 53 seconds later than yesterday. πŸŒ‡ The best time to look at the stars is after 5:41 pm. At sunset, look for partly sunny skies πŸŒƒ and temperatures around 36 degrees. The wind chill around sunset will be 25. β˜ƒοΈ Breezy, 21 mph breeze β›… from the northwest with gusts up to 36mph. Today will have 9 hours and 8 minutes of daytime, an increase of 51 seconds over yesterday. It won’t be long before we gain a minute each day — lots in the evening, and even

Tonight will be partly cloudy 🌀, with a low of 23 degrees at 4am. Seven degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical night around March 8th. Maximum wind chill around 20 at 6am; Northwest wind 6 to 11 mph becoming light after midnight. In 2020, we had cloudy skies in the evening, which became mostly clear by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 39 degrees. The record low of -14 occurred back in 1970.

As previously noted, next Saturday is Static Electric Shock Day 🧼 when the sun will be setting at 4:40 pm with dusk at 5:12 pm. On that day in 2020, we had partly sunny and temperatures between 30 and 13 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 30 degrees. We hit a record high of 62 back in 2008.

Hunter and Devils Path Mountains

November 21, 2020 10 AM Update

Good morning! It’s Regular Deer Season in Southern Zone 🦌! Big game ain’t my thing living in the suburbs but all my country buds are up in their stands today with their rifles and shotguns. πŸ”« Next Saturday is Small Business Saturday. πŸ›οΈ I’ll probably be out camping, God willing. Partly cloudy and 48 degrees in Delmar, NY. β›… There is a northwest breeze at 15 mph. πŸƒ with gusts up to 25 mph πŸ’¨πŸ’¨πŸ’¨. Temperatures will drop below freezing at Monday morning around midnight. β˜ƒοΈ

Cornbread pancakes πŸ₯ž this morning for breakfast. I like them, they are a nice hardy breakfast compared to having regular pancakes with fruit πŸ’ which can get boring after a while although I’ve been seriously enjoying the frozen pineapple chunks 🍍 I’ve been having all week. I like frozen fruits and vegetables as they don’t have a lot of packaging to get rid of and they are inexpensive and don’t spoil in the freezer.

Today will be partly sunny 🌞, with a high of 50 degrees at 10am. Four degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical day around November 11th. At least back in the day. I am going to walk out to Five Rivers 🐦 a little after noon. This way I can have lunch before I leave and just bring my binoculars and camera πŸ“Έ. Sunny now, maybe I should go now but I’m enjoying a lazy Saturday listening πŸ‘‚πŸ» to the radio πŸ“», wasting bandwidth on Facebook. πŸ“±

I had the heat on Thursday but since then it’s been mild enough ♨ I’ve been keeping it turned down. I am sure I’ll need more in a few weeks especially working from home but I’m thinking I’ll get a heating pad and maybe a small desktop heater with a fan to turn on briefly when I get chilled and don’t want to necessarily crank up the heat on both floors of the apartment or use the upstairs electric baseboard heat. It’s gas downstairs, but that heater is rather slow.

Tomorrow doesn’t sound really nice πŸ˜” but I’m probably going out to the folks house for Sunday dinner. 🍲 Maybe a morning walk like last week, depending on the weather. I should run to the store 🏬 next week before the craziness πŸ€ͺ of Black Friday and holiday / Thanksgiving shopping πŸ›’ to get some food and supplies, and return beer cans β™» that have been sitting in the back of my truck since I camped at Stoney Pond.
