July

July is the hottest month of the summer. It’s the month when the school children are out from school and the legislature has left Albany for the year. Hot and humid, but wonderful summer days upon us, as we enjoy long nights in the summer haze.

Campsite with Views

There won’t be any real cold days in this month. Rainy days are a rarity, although one always to be on the watch for the heavy thunderstorms that often come by afternoon. Humidity will be high, one things warm up by mid-day. Regardless, with long days, one can get up, hike up a mountain, break by early afternoon, and then enjoy nice nights. We will enjoy the wild blueberries and the wild raspberries as spend time outdoors.

Blueberries Along the Trail

July is the month when we celebrate the birth of our nation with Independence Day. Always a long weekend, it will be a nice one. We will enjoy fireworks, both legal and illegal, lighting them off, into the summer skies. We will watch the fireflies as they fill the fields at night with their flickers of light.

It will be an enjoyable month.

The warmest month is upon us, when we celebrate our country's independence and enjoy many delightful summer past-times.

We end June lost in the smoke 🌫

Probably by tomorrow or the day after the air pollution will move on, my eyes and throat will stop burning. At least for a while. The hell of it is we are electrifying things and switching to renewables which will clean the air about the time climate change is polluting the air.

Good morning! Where did June go? The answer my friend is blowing in the wind, or at least is lost in the smoke. I’m getting used to the sore throat when I go outside. It’s kind of like after a hard night drinking and smoking back in the day minus the hang over. Haze and smoke 🌫 and 60 degrees in Delmar, NY. Calm wind. The dew point is 59 degrees. The air quality index is 114, unhealthy for sensitive individuals due to Cannuks burning their forests. I’m sure the Trumpster would say that.

Lately I’ve been starting my morning with a hard boiled egg 🥚 and a cup of black coffee ☕ before my morning walk 🚶. I appreciating the power of protein in eggs to get me going in the morning. 11 ½ miles walked yesterday. 36 floors climbed up and down. I’m really getting to prefer the stairs to the elevator at work. I got to bed 🛏 before nine o’clock last night and got a good night’s sleep and feel great. After the morning walk it’s pancakes 🥞 and strawberries, the pancakes made out of bananas 🍌, whole grain oatmeal and water run through the food processor. It’s good.

You’d think you’d need flour and sugar to make good pancakes 🥞 but truth be told, since I’ve been milling the whole grain oatmeal and bananas into a slurry in the food processor to make pancake mix I can’t imagine going back as it’s so much better tasting and filling. I’ve been thinking 💭 maybe I can tweak the recipe adding raisins and possibly honey 🍯 for more stickiness to make oatmeal raisin cookies in the oven minus all unhealthy crap. 🍪

Today will be widespread haze. Patchy dense fog before 7am. Otherwise, mostly sunny 🌇, with a high of 86 degrees at 3pm. Three degrees above normal. Maximum dew point of 65 at 10am. Calm wind becoming south around 6 mph in the morning. It would be hotter if not for the smoke. A year ago, we had mostly sunny skies. The high last year was 85 degrees. The record high of 98 was set in 1964.

Yesterday I was noticing how thin I actually look when wearing clothes at actually for myself. 🍏 It’s actually amazing what eating good food plus a little exercise can do. I wonder if I’m actually a healthy weight but I don’t know, I don’t own a scale. Now just to figure out the bicycle 🚲 thing and start riding to work, saving bus fares 🚍 and getting more exercise doing what is otherwise wasted time on the bus.

Solar noon 🌞 is at 1:00 pm with sun having an altitude of 70.6° from the due south horizon (-0.3° vs. 6/21). The golden hour 🏅 starts at 7:55 pm with the sun in the west-northwest (296°). 📸 The sunset is in the west-northwest (303°) with the sun dropping below the horizon at 8:38 pm after setting for 3 minutes and 27 seconds with dusk around 9:11 pm, which is 6 seconds earlier than yesterday. 🌇 At dusk you’ll see the Full 🌝 Moon in the south-southeast (160°) at an altitude of 20° from the horizon, 234,231 miles away. 🚀 The best time to look at the stars is after 9:58 pm. At sunset, look for partly clear skies 🌄 and temperatures around 80 degrees. The dew point will be 63 degrees. There will be a south-southeast breeze at 6 mph. Today will have 15 hours and 19 minutes of daytime, a decrease of 35 seconds over yesterday.

Tonight will be partly cloudy 🌃, with a low of 62 degrees at 6am. One degree above normal. Maximum dew point of 63 at 8pm. South wind around 7 mph. In 2022, we had mostly clear skies. It became humid as the night progressed. It got down to 68 degrees. The record low of 45 occurred back in 1978.

On this day in 1971, Ohio ratifies the 26th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, reducing the voting age to 18, thereby putting the amendment into effect. Also in 1934, 🗳 The Night of the Long Knives, Adolf Hitler’s violent purge of his political rivals in Germany, takes place. Fortunately, we only have obnoxious rhetoric to that impact in our country today. 🗡 That said, I like my big knifes for chopping vegetables. 🥕

Tomorrow will have a slight chance of showers, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2pm. Mostly sunny ☀ 👉 🌦, with a high of 85 degrees at 3pm. Two degrees above normal. Maximum dew point of 64 at 10am. South wind 6 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms. A year ago, we had mostly sunny skies. The high last year was 95 degrees. The record high of 99 was set in 1913.

Tomorrow’s goals are quite simple but important steps forward. 🥅 It is to first and foremost either get a bicycle 🚲 or at least have one ordered and paid for at a bicycle store either new or preferably used. Something good and reliable. Drop off my worn out clothes and boots 👢 for recycling ♻. Get sparklers 🎇 and ground fireworks either in Greene or Rennselear County. Go grocery shopping 🛒 for a few supplies. Decide if I want to go out to Schoharie for camping 🏕 Saturday evening through independence Day. 🇺🇸

Looking ahead to Sunday, a chance of showers before 11am, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms between 11am and 2pm, then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm after 2pm. Mostly cloudy, 🌥 with a high near 80. South wind around 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible. Maximum dew point of 69 at 1pm. Typical average high for the weekend is 83 degrees.

Frankly, Sunday doesn’t look great. 🌦️ I am inclined to stay in town, maybe get some books at the library 📚 as I’m not crazy about the books I have remaining tonight. But WRGB keeps swearing this weekend won’t be a wash out 📺 but based on statistical analysis of Nate Silver 🔢 I’m not sure I believe television metrologist over the National Weather Service. But I will keep Schoharie County in my back pocket, for a potential trip with Monday spent fishing 🎣 and swimming at Mine Kill Pool and camping at Burnt Rossman State Forest, hitting up farm stands 🍓 on Saturday afternoon.

For Monday a chance of showers, then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm after 2pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 85. Chance of precipitation is 60%. 🌦️ Doesn’t sound wonderful. And Independence Day, 🎇 hot and very humid with a chance of showers, with thunderstorms also possible after 2pm. Partly sunny, with a high near 85. ☀ Dewpoints pushing seventy. Sticky. 😰 Chance of precipitation is 50%.

Maybe independence Day I’ll head to an undisclosed location with a flashlight 🔦 to watch July 4th fireworks. 🎇 And then save the sparklers 🌟 and ground fireworks I get for the following weekend potentially for a trip to the Potholers spent floating on the tube ⭕. Assuming it’s hot and sunny. Or a future 🔮 July weekend. I’m planning the last two weekends of July at Finger Lakes National Forest where fireworks are mostly prohibited so I don’t think I’ll bring many there. I actually kind of want sweet corn 🌽 to be out first so I can enjoy that with clams 🦪 at the Potholers though.

Looking forward, there are 2 weeks until National Nude Day 👱 when the sun will be setting at 8:33 pm with dusk at 9:06 pm. What can I say, skinny dipping is fun especially after dark in an Adirondack swimming 🏊 hole. On that day in 2022, we had partly cloudy and temperatures between 85 and 65 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 84 degrees. We hit a record high of 99 back in 1995.

You’ve lost a lot of weight the random person on the street says

I tell you those are fighting words. The guy warns he lost a lot of weight only to put it back on. And asks how much I’ve lost. Truth is I don’t know, I don’t have a scale and only have a vague idea from my online medical records. I’ve been focused on nutrition and eating healthy whole foods not counting calories or limiting portions and walking.

Good morning! Happy Smokey Thursday. Mostly cloudy and 60 degrees in Delmar, NY. ☁ There is a west breeze at 5 mph. 🍃. The dew point is 58 degrees. The air quality index has fallen to 83 due to wildfire smoke, it’s worse out in Western NY and expected to decline through the day. The skies will clear around 10 am. I guess it depends on the smoke.

Black beans are cooking down on the stove this morning 🍲 for some good cool lunches and dinners in the coming days. They’re great with some good chopped red onions 🧅 and maybe peppers 🫑🌶️. Especially with warmer weather ahead and I’m getting tired or the rice, peas and lentils even if I’m mixing them up with other ingredients. Cooking now, I plan to have them for lunch.

Today will be partly sunny 🌞, with a high of 81 degrees at 6pm. Assuming we can see the sun through the smoke. Two degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical day around June 23rd. Maximum dew point of 62 at 11am. Northwest wind around 6 mph. A year ago, we had partly cloudy skies in the morning with some clearing in the afternoon. The high last year was 85 degrees. The record high of 96 was set in 1944.

Walked 🚶 11 ¼ miles yesterday including doing the stairs to the 18th floor both ways at work twice. It’s great cardio and avoids the risk of getting trapped in the elevator again. I’m not really afraid 😨 of elevators, I’m sure if I got stuck they’d send a technician quickly. I just like feeling good.

Solar noon 🌞 is at 12:59 pm with sun having an altitude of 70.6° from the due south horizon (-0.2° vs. 6/21). A six foot person will cast a 2.1 foot shadow today at solar noon. Tonight will be partly cloudy 🌃 , with a low of 59 degrees at 6am. Two degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical night around June 22nd. Maximum dew point of 63 at 8pm. Light and variable wind. In 2022, we had mostly clear skies. It got down to 56 degrees. The record low of 47 occurred back in 1938.

On this day in 2006, in Hamdan v. Rumsfeld the U.S. Supreme Court rules that President George W. Bush’s plan to try Guantanamo Bay detainees in military tribunals violates U.S. and international law. ⚖ Seems like ancient history now.

Has the Independence Day weekend improved? 🌥 Still looks fairly cloudy with potential smoke and air quality issues. Saturday, a chance of showers, then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm after 2pm. Partly sunny, with a high near 83. South wind 9 to 11 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. Partly sunny, with a high near 83. Chance of precipitation is 40%. Typical average high for the weekend is 83 degrees.

Some models seem more positive for the weekend, 😀 and I will decide on Friday night if I am going to head out of town. I probably won’t leave until mid-day Saturday if I decide to head out of town as I want to look at bicycles. 🚲 I might have something to do the following weekend, and this is a four day weekend, 🏕 plus I want to get sparklers, so this would be a good weekend to get out of town. 🎆

Looking ahead, there are 3 weeks until Ugly Truck Day 🚚 when the sun will be setting at 8:29 pm with dusk at 9:01 pm. On that day in 2022, we had hot, humid, mostly sunny, thunderstorm and temperatures between 97 and 72 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 84 degrees. We hit a record high of 97 back in 1991.

Early Morning On Jessup River Road

What can I say, eighteen floors is a lot to walk up to 🚶

Truth is I’m not that scared to ride the sketchy elevators but doing the 18 flights in the morning and lunch time is excellent cardio on top of the 7 ½ miles in trying to walk every day. I didn’t even know the stairs were an option but ID badge works with them so I guess I’m an authorized employee to use them.

Good morning! What day is it? Hump Day, of course. Cloudy and 64 degrees in Delmar, NY. ☁ There is a south-southeast breeze at 6 mph. 🍃. The dew point is 64 degrees. The skies will clear around 4 pm. Or will they? It depends on thunderstorms and wildfire smoke. Currently the AQI is a healthy 22.

I’ve decided to wear my glasses 👓 during the morning walk 🚶 to give my eyes 👀 a break and save time in the morning. Did 8 ½ miles yesterday plus the stairs as I went for a walk in the Pine Bush 🦋 after the meeting of the Guilderland IDA where they are giving an even bigger tax break to Costco.

Today will have a chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 9am. Some of the storms could produce heavy rainfall. Mostly cloudy 🌧, with a high of 76 degrees at 5pm. The record high of 99 was set in 1901.

Solar noon 🌞 is at 12:59 pm with sun having an altitude of 70.7° from the due south horizon (-0.2° vs. 6/21). On this day in 1896, An explosion in the Newton Coal Company’s Twin Shaft Mine in Pittston, Pennsylvania results in a massive cave-in that kills 58 miners. Also in 1969, Stonewall riots begin in New York City, marking the start of the Gay Rights Movement. Lots of explosive things hpapening on this day in history.

Not a particularly nice weekend on tap. 😞 Saturday, showers likely, mainly after 2pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 82. Chance of precipitation is 60%. Maximum dew point of 67 at 12pm. Typical average high for the weekend is 83 degrees.

I’ve come to the realization that Independence Day Weekend 🇺🇸 doesn’t look like a winner so probably best to stay close to home. 🏡 Saves money, avoids the crowds. But maybe the following weekend will be better, it looks like it’s getting hotter and hopefully less rainy come those days. I wouldn’t mind the following week to go up to the Potholers. Maybe this weekend I can commit to buying a bicycle 🚲, I might end up getting a new one if I get tired of waiting for the perfect 👌 used one to show up. I get paid next week and I expect that I would get a lot of use out of it. Thinking the last week of July for summer vacation in the Finger Lakes National Forest. 🏖

Looking ahead, next Wednesday is Hottest Time of the Year 😅 when the sun will be setting at 8:37 pm with dusk at 9:10 pm. Monday, Monday

Good morning! Monday’s come back around again. So it has. Mostly cloudy with haze and 65 degrees in Delmar, NY. ⛅ There is a south-southeast breeze at 6 mph. 🍃. The dew point is 65 degrees. The air quality index is a healthy 33. The muggy weather ends Thursday around 2 am. 😓

I’m out walking 🚶 though not as early as I would like as I have a bad case of the Monday’s plus there isn’t the smoldering cars around the High School 🚸 and I don’t have to iron my clothes before work. Decided to give my eyes 👀 a break for now and wear glasses 👓 for my morning walk 🚶 Plus I find the humidity to be kind of a demotivator to getting moving plus the eye issues I had over the weekend.

I started out this morning with a hard-boiled egg 🥚 to get some protein before the morning walk. 🏃 I am been having too much sugar lately, and I besides boosting the fiber in my diet I am coming around the way of the keto folks on having more protein and fiber from eggs and other lower-calorie sources like certain beans and meats. Then for breakfast, I am going to pulverize some white beans and mix them in the cream of wheat with strawberries and blueberries. 🍵 While I don’t like overusing my food chopper, as I think food should be chewed not drunk, it does work good for hiding things like beans in your breakfast.

Today will have a chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 9am. Mostly cloudy 🌩, with a high of 81 degrees at 2pm. One degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical day around June 23rd. Maximum dew point of 71 at 12pm. South wind 6 to 13 mph. Chance of precipitation is 50%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible. A year ago, we had mostly sunny skies. It was somewhat humid. The high last year was 93 degrees. The record high of 99 was set in 1952.

We are stuck in that rather hot, humid unstable weather pattern ⛈️ that is common this time of year. Could get soaked any minute type deal. Sucks for people that have this week off from work – used to be my usual choice though not in recent years as I like to break my summer up more. 😅 Won’t make the evening walk fun but if it’s not raining, I might go down to the park and read for a while then do some steps as darkness approaches and it’s not as hot. 📚 As  At least the air quality is relatively good today, though we need to watch how much the Canadian wildfire smoke pushes in later in the day.

On this day in 1963, U.S. President John F. Kennedy gave his “Ich bin ein Berliner” speech, underlining the support of the United States for democratic West Germany shortly after Soviet-supported East Germany erected the Berlin Wall. 🍩 Also, The Universal Product Code is scanned for the first time in 1974 to sell a package of Wrigley’s chewing gum at the Marsh Supermarket in Troy, Ohio.🛒

Cloudy and rain showers for Independence Day Weekend 🇺🇸 Saturday, a chance of showers. Partly sunny, with a high near 82. Chance of precipitation is 50%. Maximum dew point of 66 at 12pm. Sunday, showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 80. Chance of precipitation is 60%. Maximum dew point of 67 at 12pm. Typical average high for the weekend is 83 degrees.

I’d like to get out of town this weekend 🚲 but finding a bicycle is a higher priority and it depends on the weather. I might look at bicycles at a few places on Saturday then camp ⛺ maybe in Schoharie and do the Mine Kill Pool 🏊‍♂️ maybe hammock camping. Depends on whether or not I get Monday off as a holiday. Actually I’m thinking the following weekend might be quieter and better for some lazy floating in the Adirondacks along Piseco-Powley Road. A lot depends on the weather. I might due Betty Brook but I worry I can get that campsite, though the little one is rarely taken as most people either go for the big lower site or the field site. Not sure. If it looks wet and I have a bike to ride, I might stay close to home and see what I can explore on the bicycle.

Looking ahead, there are 8 weeks until World Mosquito Day 🐞 when the sun will be setting at 7:50 pm with dusk at 8:18 pm. On that day in 2022, we had hot, partly sunny and temperatures between 88 and 70 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 82 degrees. We hit a record high of 98 back in 1916.

Kelley Stand Road

Second day of summer 🏖

Honest I’m up and going this morning, though I’m still in still in quite a haze this morning despite making sure to be in bed by nine o’clock last night.

Good morning! Happy Thursday. Partly sunny 🌞 and 54 degrees in Delmar, NY. ⛅ Calm wind. The dew point is 52 degrees.

Out for the morning walk 🚶 and I’m not feeling it today. 7 ¾ miles yesterday. I got to bed 🛏 on tike last night but I think I’m still half asleep despite sleeping in to six. The sun ☀ in sky helps a lot.

Hoping to walk down to the Park and Ride this morning, 🚍 as I’m running close to on time this morning and I have an extra lunch in the office 🏢 as I got home early enough last night to eat at home. Not a session day, they’re gone, so no shirts to iron.

Today will be partly sunny 🌞, with a high of 75 degrees at 2pm. Six degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical day around May 31st. Maximum dew point of 56 at 6pm. Calm wind becoming southeast 5 to 7 mph in the morning. A year ago, we had mostly sunny skies in the morning with a few breaks of sun the afternoon. The high last year was 67 degrees. The record high of 95 was set in 1954.

I think I’m good on groceries 🍏 through Friday night though I think tomorrow in the evening I’ll go shopping 🛒 after the store is restocked. I think I want to get more shorts and especially boxers and under shirts as my current ones are much too large and my boxers at times are slipping off. With warmer weather coming I should continue to think about quick cold meals that don’t require much cooking. Beans and rice are a once a week thing so they don’t require too much heat and can be eaten cold. 🥘

Solar noon 🌞 is at 12:58 pm with sun having an altitude of 70.8° from the due south horizon (-0° vs. 6/21). The golden hour 🏅 starts at 7:55 pm with the sun in the west-northwest (297°). 📸 The sunset is in the borthwest (304°) with the sun dropping below the horizon at 8:38 pm after setting for 3 minutes and 28 seconds with dusk around 9:11 pm, which is 12 seconds later than yesterday. 🌇 At dusk you’ll see the First Quarter 🌓 Moon in the west (266°) at an altitude of 30° from the horizon, 252,135 miles away. 🚀 The best time to look at the stars is after 9:58 pm. At sunset, look for rain 🌧 and temperatures around 68 degrees. The dew point will be 57 degrees. There will be a south-southeast breeze at 5 mph. Today will have 15 hours and 22 minutes of daytime, a decrease of 2 seconds over yesterday.

Looking at my pay stub 🎫 person it looks like I didn’t get my federal deduction quite right so I’m going to have to talk to the pay roll office about fixing that today. State taxes are good. So I guess that’s a step forward. 👣 I’ll have to talk to the Payroll office to get that straightened out.

Tonight will be scattered showers, mainly between 11pm and 3am. Cloudy 🌧, with a low of 60 degrees at 6am. Typical for tonight. Maximum dew point of 60 at 6am. Southeast wind around 5 mph becoming calm in the evening. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible. In 2022, we had mostly clear skies in the evening, which became light rain by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 60 degrees. The record low of 44 occurred back in 1940.

Humid with thunderstorms this weekend. 🌩 Saturday, a chance of showers before 11am, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms between 11am and 2pm, then showers and possibly a thunderstorm after 2pm. High near 82. South wind 6 to 9 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms. Maximum dew point of 71 at 1pm. Sunday, showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm, mainly after 2pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 83. Chance of precipitation is 70%. Maximum dew point of 70 at 10am. Typical average high for the weekend is 82 degrees.

This weekend, I still want to look at bicycles. 🚲 I would really like to be able to start commuting to work as soon as next week on a bicycle. I am going to part out my existing bicycle, but I’ve come to the conclusion that it would be better to start out fresh with a good used or new bicycle, something more designed for road riding then a hybrid bicycle. Then keep it in good maintance, especially keeping that back tire well inflated. Bicycle tires should be checked weekly for pressure based on the bicycle repair manual I’ve been reading. Every day I delay, it’s costing me a bus fare 🚒 to say nothing of the health benefits of riding back and forth to work. Or how handy it would be able to set up camp and then ride to trail heads, especially in more spread out areas like Piseco-Powley Road or even Moose River Plains. 🚵‍♀️

I am also thinking about going to visit John Wolcott on Saturday and then do an afternoon hike in the Pine Bush. 🌲🌲🦋 I doubt I’ll see as many Karner Blues at this point, as we are a few weeks past the lupine bloom but it’s always a nice hike in the Albany Pine Bush, especially as dusk approaches. Plus I am sure I will end up forgetting to get groceries at the store on Friday and will end up stopping at Market32 in Guilderland, although based on the affordable surprisingly affordable prices at Hannaford in Voorheesville 🏬 maybe that’s where I should be going.

I am hoping the following weekend — Independence Day Weekend 🎆 to get out of town. A lot depends if they give us that Monday July 3rd off as a state holiday. It could happen. The issue is camping four nights straight — I’ll need a permit or have to move mid-weekend. I worry about things filling up, especially if it’s nice. I could do the Green Mountain National Forest, though I guess your not supposed to be lighting off fireworks in the National Forest, though I doubt locally they do much enforcement on the 4th of July unless it’s very dry. Plus, I want to get fireworks on my way out there. Piseco-Powley would be fun again that weekend, but I don’t know if I will be able to get a campsite, though maybe I could leave early on Friday.

Looking ahead, there are 4 weeks until Ugly Truck Day 🚚 when the sun will be setting at 8:29 pm with dusk at 9:01 pm. On that day in 2022, we had hot and humid weather, mostly sunny skies and the inevitable  thunderstorm and temperatures between 97 and 72 degrees. I think I was out camping in Finger Lakes National Forest that week. Or 4 weeks, was that week before and I was in the office? I don’t remember. I should think about summer vacation and what week I want to take off. Typically, the high temperature is 84 degrees. We hit a record high of 97 back in 1991.

 Yesterday On Lake Pleasant

Thinking About Camping Up on Jessup River Road in June.

There is this campsite on lower Jessup River Road, up on Hartwick Hill which offers a nice view of the mountains when camping there. Not a lot of shade in the campsite proper, and it’s kind of exposed to the elements, but it offers a fantastic view and cellphone service to boot.

As summer closes out

I ended up spending the weekend up there during Labor Day Weekend 2018, it was a nice place to camp, despite only modestly nice weather. But with the bright open area, the view and the good cellphone reception, I think i might go back there next June once the road opens for the summer.

Looking back towards camp

There is some traffic on Jessup River Road, especially in the morning when people are heading out to the mountains to hike, or as with Labor Day Weekend, people heading up to camp. Traffic means noise and dust, but I didn’t find it overly bothersome.

Dusty Jessup River Road

I can’t say enough about the great views for sure. Too bad when I camped most of the weekend was trapped in fog and rain, but next time I go up I expect the weather would be nicer. I would probably go up there in June, when I’m on-call for work, as I could sit up there, do work business using my phone, while sipping a cold beer or leaning back in the hammock.

As summer closes out

The great thing about the big open campsite, is it makes for a great place for looking at the stars, and of course having a great big ol’ fire into the night.

It seems summer has all but bit the bucket, despite the muggy weather tonight

Still a few more weeks until June but I sure look forward to those nice nights come the summer.
