September 2, 2020 Night

Good evening! Rain showers and 72 degrees in Delmar, NY. โ˜” There is a south breeze at 8 mph. ๐Ÿƒ. The dew point is 69 degrees. The skies will clear tomorrow around 3 am.

Went to the store and are continuing to get packed. ๐Ÿ’ผ I did forget to get paper towels and extra mantles for the lantern ๐Ÿฎ so I may need to run to Walmart at lunch time. If I can find mantles in my truck, I’ll just get the paper towels at Hannaford. I don’t normally use them at home but they are handy up at camp and they burn just fine. ๐Ÿ”ฅ

I got to return my overdue library books ๐Ÿ“š and renew the other ones. While there is no fines currently through November 1st due to the pandemic folks might be wanting to read about hog farming and homesteading. ๐Ÿฝ I actually could have renewed all the books timely but I didn’t care because there aren’t any fines due to the delayed returns when they quarantine the books at the depositary.

Finally took a shower ๐Ÿšฟ after four days. I was kind of feeling hot and sweaty so I took a quick shower before bed ๐Ÿ›. Yeah, I probably should do that more often but in the era of social distancing who knows how often you bathe or use deodorant. It’s not like anybody is allowed to be within 6โƒฃ feet at any rate.

Tonight will have a chance of showers, mainly before 2am. Mostly cloudy ๐ŸŒง, with a low of 64 degrees at 5am. Eight degrees above normal. Maximum dew point of 69 at 10pm. South wind 5 to 8 mph becoming light and variable after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 40%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible. In 2019, we had mostly clear skies in the evening, which became partly cloudy by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 55 degrees. The record low of 39 occurred back in 1976.

Tonight will have a Full ๐ŸŒ Moon with 98% illuminated. At 10 PM, the moon was in the east-southeast (120ยฐ) at an altitude of 18ยฐ from the horizon, some 249,694 miles away from where you are looking up from the earth. ๐Ÿš€ At the state speed limit of 55 mph, you’ll make it there by March 11th. Buckle up for safety! The darkest hour is at 12:56 am, followed by dawn at 5:54 am, and sun starting to rise at 6:23 am in the east (79ยฐ) and last for 2 minutes and 57 seconds. Sunrise is one minute and 4 seconds later than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ„ The golden hour ends at 7:00 am with sun in the east (85ยฐ). Tonight will have 10 hours and 55 minutes of darkness, an increase of 2 minutes and 47 seconds over last night.

Tomorrow will be partly sunny ๐ŸŒž, with a high of 82 degrees at 3pm. Five degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical day around August 9th. Maximum dew point of 63 at 6am. Light and variable wind becoming southwest around 5 mph in the afternoon. It’s going to quite summer like. A year ago, we had light rain in the morning with some clearing in the afternoon. It became sticky as the day progressed. The high last year was 79 degrees. The record high of 100 was set in 1953.

It should be a nice run of weather after tonight โ˜€ up in Vermont. ๐ŸŒฒ๐ŸŒฒ๐ŸŒฒ๐ŸŒฒ If I was packed and didn’t have that Zoom Meetings tomorrow I’d probably leave before work but I’d rather do the meeting where I have library bandwidth to do it. ๐Ÿ“น It should be nice working up in Vermont, just need to make sure that I get a campsite โ›บ with good cell service for work. I’ll have my work laptop but hopefully most things I can do for my phone.

Most of the long weekend looks quite cool so I’m packing my heater so I can warm up quickly โ™จ๏ธ on the cold mornings. I don’t expect many days will be above 70 in Vermont which will be good in the sense the ice will last longer. I concede I will probably have to get ice by Monday, depending on how long I stay in Vermont. I am freezing all the meat ๐Ÿฅฉ and cheeses ๐Ÿง€ for the cooler but I know ice won’t last forever. โ„

I extended my blog contract yesterday for three 3โƒฃ more years. ๐Ÿ“ I like doing the blog and it’s only like $390 for 3 years so it’s not expensive. At one point I experimented with web ads and brought in like $120 but it is really ain’t a big expense. People spend a ton more on cable service or even streaming video. ๐Ÿ“บ Next paycheck I’ll increase my investing but for now the extra money will pay for the car insurance and the web hosting at least in part. ๐Ÿ•ธ

In four weeks on September 30 the sun will be setting in the west (266ยฐ) at 6:38 pm,๐ŸŒ„ which is 49 minutes and 30 seconds earlier then tonight. In 2019 on that day, we had mostly cloudy, rain showers and temperatures between 68 and 50 degrees. Typically, you have temperatures between 66 and 45 degrees. The record high of 88 degrees was set back in 1905.

Good morning! Happy Corn Moon ๐ŸŒ•! Rain showers and 66 degrees in Delmar, NY. โ˜” There is a south-southeast breeze at 8 mph. ๐Ÿƒ. The dew point is 62 degrees.

Another rather dreary day โ˜๏ธ and then we have a long stretch of nice weather ahead. โ˜€๏ธGoing to be a nice weekend so I’m heading up to Vermont I think tomorrow after work will do the remote work thing from there for a while. Going to be fairly cool so I’m hoping I can leave with ice I have and maybe get coffee creamer for once the ice runs out because it’s a pain to run to town from there. ๐Ÿฅƒ I thought about leaving today or tomorrow before work to ensure that I can get a campsite with good cell service and solar for power. ๐Ÿ”Œ

Today will have showers likely, with thunderstorms also possible after noon. Mostly cloudy ๐ŸŒฆ, with a high of 71 degrees at 1pm. Six degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical day around September 18th. Maximum dew point of 70 at 4pm. South wind 8 to 14 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms. A year ago, we had light rain in the morning with some clearing in the afternoon. It became sticky as the day progressed. The high last year was 76 degrees. The record high of 100 was set in 1953.

I plan to start packing ๐Ÿ’ผ as time allows today and will go shopping ๐Ÿ›’ tonight for food and supplies. I don’t need a lot but I want to have enough to eat for at Five nights, with the last two with minimal ice in the cooler. Not going to be real hot so the ice should last longer this time. I am thinking I will bring the propane heater โ™จ๏ธ to warm my hands ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป because some of the mornings might be chilly.

Solar noon ๐ŸŒž is at 12:56 pm with sun having an altitude of 55.1ยฐ from the due south horizon (-15.7ยฐ vs. 6/21). A six foot person will cast a 4.2 foot shadow today compared to 2.2 feet on the first day of summer. The golden hour ๐Ÿ… starts at 6:52 pm with the sun in the west (275ยฐ). ๐Ÿ“ธ The sunset is in the west-northwest (281ยฐ) with the sun dropping below the horizon at 7:29 pm after setting for 2 minutes and 57 seconds with dusk around 7:56 pm, which is one minute and 43 seconds earlier than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ‡ The best time to look at the stars is after 8:33 pm. At sunset, look for thunderstorms ๐ŸŒฉ and temperatures around 71 degrees. The dew point will be 69 degrees. There will be a south breeze at 9 mph. Today will have 13 hours and 5 minutes of daytime, a decrease of 2 minutes and 47 seconds over yesterday.

Tonight will have showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm before midnight, then scattered showers. Mostly cloudy ๐ŸŒง, with a low of 63 degrees at 6am. Seven degrees above normal. Maximum dew point of 70 at 6pm. South wind 5 to 8 mph becoming light and variable after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms. In 2019, we had mostly clear skies in the evening, which became partly cloudy by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 55 degrees. The record low of 39 occurred back in 1976.

A picture perfect weekend on tap. ๐Ÿ˜Ž Saturday, sunny, with a high near 73. Maximum dew point of 53 at 8am. Sunday, mostly sunny, with a high near 76. Maximum dew point of 54 at 10am. Typical average high for the weekend is 76 degrees.

Yes, I would say it looks like a very nice weekend to end summer. ๐Ÿฆ‹ Not super warm but sunny. I am sure in some places in the mountains we will be starting to see colors popping up. ๐Ÿ‚ Looking forward to a few days in the woods although I do actually think some of the autumn trips I’m planning will be even more fun. No Moose River Plains this year though because I need cellphone reception for work. I do like the idea of spending some time in Central NY where I can run to libraries for the Zoom Meetings and anytime I need a lot of bandwidth for work.

I got my first bigger paycheck yesterday. ๐Ÿ’ฐThe money is nice but it’s actually not that much when I figure in retirement and taxes. Probably going to invest or save virtually all of it because I don’t need more garbage to have to pay to get of at the transfer station ๐Ÿ—‘. It’s more fun to watch my investments and savings grow โ™ and look at off-grid properties on Facebook then spend the money. I just find there is too much stuff today and for most things the less you have the happier ๐Ÿ˜Š you are as everything you buy always breaking down. ๐Ÿ› ๏ธ

One month ๐Ÿ“… from now, the Average High is 65 ๐Ÿ‚ when the sun will be setting at 6:34 pm with dusk at 7:02 pm.

Good evening! Mostly cloudy and 68 degrees in Delmar, NY. โ˜ There is a south-southeast breeze at 9 mph. ๐Ÿƒ. The dew point is 62 degrees. The skies will clear tomorrow around 6 pm.

I’ve been staying up too late the past few nights ๐Ÿ›, so after walking I decided to retire to bed. It’s been a fairly quiet work from home day but quite busy at the same time. I was surprised, despite staying up late yesterday, I got a pretty good night’s sleep yesterday. ๐Ÿ’ค

That gas leak at the plastics plant down the road was interesting. ๐Ÿ’ฅโ˜ ๏ธNever smelled any of the polystyrene that supposedly leaked out of the tanker train car. ๐Ÿš‚ Definitely can smell polystyrene, I know when you don’t have a hot fire it can be pungent. I thought about evacuating but I figured I’d just keep my bag handy because I didn’t want to leave for the Adirondacks or the Green Mountains in the rain. I always do wonder if I’ll ever need to evacuate – probably not as south breezes are pretty rare and the plant is a few miles away – but ABS plastic is pretty noxious even if it is common in a lot of electronics and automobiles. ๐Ÿค–

Tonight will be cloudy โ˜, with a low of 64 degrees at 3am. Seven degrees above normal. Maximum dew point of 62 at 10pm. Southeast wind 6 to 10 mph. In 2019, we had cloudy skies in the evening, which became light rain by the early hours of the morning. It became somewhat humid as the night progressed. It got down to 62 degrees. The record low of 38 occurred back in 2017.

Tonight will have a Full ๐ŸŒ Moon with 99% illuminated. Too many clouds for good viewing. At 10 PM, the moon was in the southeast (132ยฐ) at an altitude of 21ยฐ from the horizon, some 247,669 miles away from where you are looking up from the earth. ๐Ÿš€ At the state speed limit of 55 mph, you’ll make it there by March 8th. Buckle up for safety! ๐Ÿ’บ The darkest hour is at 12:56 am, followed by dawn at 5:53 am, and sun starting to rise at 6:22 am in the east-northeast (78ยฐ) and last for 2 minutes and 58 seconds. Sunrise is one minute and 4 seconds later than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ„ The golden hour ends at 6:59 am with sun in the east (85ยฐ). Tonight will have 10 hours and 52 minutes of darkness, an increase of 2 minutes and 46 seconds over last night.

Tomorrow will have a chance of showers, with thunderstorms also possible after 2pm. Mostly cloudy ๐ŸŒฆ, with a high of 76 degrees at 4pm. One degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical day around September 5th. Maximum dew point of 70 at 5pm. South wind 8 to 10 mph, with gusts as high as 22 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40%. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms. A year ago, we had mostly sunny skies in the morning, remaining cloudy in the afternoon. The high last year was 76 degrees. The record high of 100 was set in 1953.

I am thinking now off going out to the Green Mountains โ›ฐ for the foreseeable future ๐Ÿ”ฎ starting on Thursday after work and doing the remote work thing from Vermont during the long weekend and thereafter. Not sure how long I will stay, depends a lot on the weather – I need sun โ˜€ for the solar to work and how many Zoom Meetings I end up having. I was going to stay in town this weekend but the weather seems too nice to stay home. Later in September I’ll spend a few days up north, working from Spectulator I’m thinking. โ›บ

In four weeks on September 29 the sun will be setting in the west (267ยฐ) at 6:39 pm,๐ŸŒ„ which is 49 minutes and 28 seconds earlier then tonight. September 1, 2020 Morning

Good morning! Happy September ๐ŸŽ! Doesn’t seem like summer is already dun in in this most odd of years. But metrological summer has come and gone. Three weeks to Autumn ๐Ÿ‚. Then the nights will be longer than the days. Mostly cloudy and 62 degrees in Delmar, NY. โ˜ There is a south-southeast breeze at 6 mph. ๐Ÿƒ. The dew point is 59 degrees. The skies will clear Thursday around noontime.

Not a super nice day to start out metrological autumn โ˜๏ธ with all the clouds. But often autumn is cloudy in Upstate NY, especially the month of November. I don’t know how wet it is going to be later on though. I don’t have a lot of ambitious plans, I’ll probably work from home or I could walk down to the park or library later and use my laptop ๐Ÿ’ป from there. I do need to think about getting a new laptop battery ๐Ÿ”‹ as it really isn’t holding a charge well.

Today will be mostly cloudy ๐ŸŒฅ, with a high of 74 degrees at 1pm. Three degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical day around September 11th. Maximum dew point of 62 at 1pm. South wind 6 to 10 mph. I think we might see some clearing out later but who knows. A year ago, we had mostly sunny skies in the morning, remaining cloudy in the afternoon. The high last year was 75 degrees. The record high of 96 was set in 1953.

Solar noon ๐ŸŒž is at 12:56 pm with sun having an altitude of 55.4ยฐ from the due south horizon (-15.4ยฐ vs. 6/21). A six foot person will cast a 4.1 foot shadow today compared to 2.2 feet on the first day of summer. The golden hour ๐Ÿ… starts at 6:53 pm with the sun in the west (276ยฐ). ๐Ÿ“ธ The sunset is in the west-northwest (282ยฐ) with the sun dropping below the horizon at 7:31 pm after setting for 2 minutes and 57 seconds with dusk around 7:58 pm, which is one minute and 42 seconds earlier than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ‡ At dusk you’ll see the Full ๐ŸŒ Moon in the east-southeast (110ยฐ) at an altitude of 2ยฐ from the horizon, 247,479 miles away. ๐Ÿš€ The best time to look at the stars is after 8:35 pm. The record low of 38 occurred back in 2017.

On this day in 1985, a joint Americanโ€“French expedition locates the wreckage of the Titanic. โ›ด๏ธ Asked for my opinion on the movie ๐Ÿ“ผ – I heard it sunk.

A picture perfect weekend on tap. ๐Ÿ˜Ž Saturday, sunny, with a high near 73. Maximum dew point of 52 at 8am. Sunday, sunny, with a high near 77. Maximum dew point of 55 at 11am. Typical average high for the weekend is 76 degrees.

I still haven’t made a decision about the weekend ๐Ÿค” but I might go out to Vermont for a couple of days if the weather is good and work remotely from there. If I go up there early in the week I should be able to get a good campsite โ›บ with cell reception ๐Ÿ“ถ.

As previously noted, there are 3 weeks until Autumn ๐Ÿ‚ when the sun will be setting at 6:52 pm with dusk at 7:20 pm. On that day in 2019, we had hot weather to start out autumn with mostly sunny skies, shallow fog and temperatures between 87 and 51 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 70 degrees. We hit a record high of 95 back in 1895.

August 31, 2020 Night

Good evening! Partly clear and 62 degrees in Delmar, NY.๐ŸŒŒ There is a south-southeast breeze at 5 mph. ๐Ÿƒ. The dew point is 56 degrees. Real nice evening, sat out back for a while.

Today was a beautiful weather day โ˜€ and I was able to work out back for a while โ˜บ and did the morning Zoom Meeting from the park. ๐Ÿž I enjoyed all the fresh air and the sun, some days I don’t mind working remotely that much. I downloaded a bunch more historical topographic maps ๐Ÿ—บ๏ธ and I will be uploading various products derived from them in the coming weeks.

I went grocery shopping ๐Ÿ›’ at Wally World and then over to John Wolcott’s house ๐Ÿ”ฌ and found those Rapp Road pig farm ๐Ÿ– photos I’ve been looking for ever since I saw the negatives there. Plus even more interesting old photos from the Fort Orange Dig ๐Ÿ”Ž and the Interstate 787 dig. Sometimes the stuff we find is just a lot of boring old ๐Ÿง“๐Ÿฝ Dutch documents ๐Ÿ“ but sometimes stuff is really fascinating. ๐Ÿ‡ณ๐Ÿ‡ฑ

Tonight will be mostly cloudy ๐ŸŒฅ, with a low of 58 degrees at 3am. One degree above normal, which is similar to a typical night around August 30th. Maximum dew point of 57 at 4am. South wind around 5 mph. In 2019, we had mostly clear skies in the evening, which became mostly clear by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 51 degrees. The record low of 41 occurred back in 1967.

Tonight will have a Full ๐ŸŒ Moon with 98% illuminated. At 10 PM, the moon was in the southeast (144ยฐ) at an altitude of 23ยฐ from the horizon, some 245,209 miles away from where you are looking up from the earth. ๐Ÿš€ At the state speed limit of 55 mph, you’ll make it there by March 5th. Buckle up for safety! ๐Ÿ’บ The Harvest ๐ŸŒฝ Moon is tomorrow on Tuesday, September 1. The darkest hour is at 12:57 am, followed by dawn at 5:52 am, and sun starting to rise at 6:21 am in the east-northeast (78ยฐ) and last for 2 minutes and 58 seconds. Sunrise is one minute and 4 seconds later than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ„ The golden hour ends at 6:58 am with sun in the east (84ยฐ). Tonight will have 10 hours and 50 minutes of darkness, an increase of 2 minutes and 46 seconds over last night.

Tomorrow will be mostly cloudy ๐ŸŒฅ, with a high of 75 degrees at 3pm. Two degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical day around September 8th. Maximum dew point of 62 at 4pm. South wind 6 to 10 mph. I guess the nice weather will be gone at least for a while starting tomorrow. A year ago, we had partly cloudy skies. The high last year was 75 degrees. The record high of 96 was set in 1953.

Tomorrow I should be able to work from home ๐Ÿก all day and I’m good on supplies. I might still end up going to the library to upload some content to the blog โคด๏ธ or if I am doing some kind of project that requires a lot of bandwidth for work. I also am thinking I should decide what I want to do for the holiday weekend – especially if I decide to leave Wednesday night or Thursday and work remotely through the weekend. Not sure, but it sure looks nice for the rest of the week after Wednesday.

Between some of those homesteading, farm, off grid groups I’m a member of it sure puts a kick in my pants ๐Ÿ‘– to work harder every day to my goals. ๐Ÿฅ… There are some really nice simple homes people build for themselves on great land they farm. While I doubt I’ll ever be a builder ๐Ÿก if you want land but a tiny off grid home they certainly do exist out there but you gotta get rural and to a state without a lot of regulations.

But it’s definitely possible if you live modestly now and save for a better tomorrow. ๐Ÿ’ต Land and implements is expensive but it gets cheaper the more rural and less trendy you get you – especially if you buy upland they has poor soils until of course you run a couple tons of grain ๐ŸŒพand spoiled bread ๐Ÿž through pigs. ๐Ÿท Exactly what they did on Rapp Road a generation ago in the Pine Bush. Soil can be rebuilt, infertile soil restored and built with organic matter. ๐Ÿ’ฉ

I found out as a salaried supervisor today, I no longer have to clock in and out ๐Ÿ•’ which is good because thats one less stress in life. While I don’t mind doing a time sheet having to punch ๐Ÿ‘Š๐Ÿป the online clock was frustrating ๐Ÿ˜ค because I’d forget half of the time. The pay is good and I’m learning a lot, trying to do my best ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป every day so eventually I can have my own land and enjoy all the good things I see every day like livestock and land when I open Facebook each morning.

In four weeks on September 28 the sun will be setting in the west (267ยฐ) at 6:41 pm,๐ŸŒ„ which is 49 minutes and 24 seconds earlier then tonight. In 2019 on that day, we had mostly sunny skies and temperatures between 82 and 54 degrees. I doubt it will be that warm this year. Typically, you have temperatures between 67 and 46 degrees. The record high of 83 degrees was set back in 2014.

Looking ahead, Labor Day ๐Ÿ‘จโ€๐Ÿญ is in 1 weeks, Columbus Day โ›ต is in 6 weeks, Halloween ๐Ÿฆ‡ and the Blue Moon ๐ŸŒ• is in 2 months, Cyber Monday ๐Ÿ›๏ธ and Beaver Moon is in 13 weeks, First Day of Winter โ˜ƒ๏ธ is in 16 weeks, 4:30 PM Sunset ๐ŸŒ† is in 17 weeks, New Years Eve ๐ŸŽ† is in 4 months, Winnie the Pooh Day ๐Ÿฏ is in 20 weeks, Martin Luther King Day ๐Ÿ–ค is in 20 weeks, 5 PM Sunset ๐ŸŒ† is in 21 weeks and February ๐ŸŒง is in 22 weeks.

August 31, 2020 Morning

Good morning! Where did August go? Tomorrow is September, pew pew. ๐Ÿฟ๏ธ๐Ÿ”ซ Next Monday is Labor Day ๐Ÿ‘จโ€๐Ÿญ. Very late this year. Mostly sunny and 50 degrees in Delmar, NY. Calm wind.

Today will be mostly sunny ๐ŸŒž, with a high of 72 degrees at 1pm. Six degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical day around September 16th. Maximum dew point of 54 at 6pm. Everything you need to know. Calm wind becoming south around 6 mph in the afternoon. A year ago, we had partly cloudy skies. The high last year was 76 degrees. The record high of 93 was set in 1953.

So I have that Zoom meeting this morning, ๐Ÿ“น that I think might be fun to do from down at the park for a change from the library. So many hours of Zoom these days. At least I can flip to another browser tab. ๐Ÿ–ฅ I also want to see if I can get some newer topographic maps from the USGS to use for comparison sake to the old ones. ๐Ÿ—บ I downloaded some more videos to watch too.

Solar noon ๐ŸŒž is at 12:57 pm with sun having an altitude of 55.8ยฐ from the due south horizon (-15ยฐ vs. 6/21). Already lost 15 degrees from the first day of summer. A six foot person will cast a 4.1 foot shadow today compared to 2.2 feet on the first day of summer. The golden hour ๐Ÿ… starts at 6:55 pm with the sun in the west (276ยฐ). ๐Ÿ“ธ The sunset is in the west-northwest (282ยฐ) with the sun dropping below the horizon at 7:33 pm after setting for 2 minutes and 58 seconds with dusk around 7:59 pm, which is one minute and 42 seconds earlier than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ‡ At dusk you’ll see the Full ๐ŸŒ Moon in the east-southeast (121ยฐ) at an altitude of 7ยฐ from the horizon, 244,992 miles away. ๐Ÿš€ The best time to look at the stars is after 8:36 pm. At sunset, look for partly cloudy skies ๐ŸŒƒ and temperatures around 69 degrees. The dew point will be 54 degrees. There will be a south-southeast breeze at 5 mph. Today will have 13 hours and 11 minutes of daytime, a decrease of 2 minutes and 46 seconds over yesterday.

Tonight will be mostly cloudy ๐ŸŒฅ, with a low of 57 degrees at 4am. Typical for tonight. Maximum dew point of 58 at 6am. South wind around 6 mph. In 2019, we had mostly clear skies in the evening, which became mostly clear by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 51 degrees. The record low of 41 occurred back in 1967.

On this day in 1965, Super Guppy took it’s first flight. ๐Ÿ›ซThe aero Spacelines Super Guppy is a large, wide-bodied cargo aircraft that is used for hauling outsize cargo components. It was the successor to the Pregnant Guppy, the first of the Guppy aircraft produced by Aero Spacelines, which in turn was named for its resemblance to a pregnant guppy. โœˆ๏ธFive were built in two variants, both of which were colloquially referred to as the “Super Guppy”.

Labor Day Weekend looks very nice. ๐Ÿ˜Ž Saturday, sunny, with a high near 73. Maximum dew point of 53 at 9am. Sunday, sunny, with a high near 78. Maximum dew point of 55 at 11am. Typical average high for the weekend is 76 degrees.

Makes me want to reconsider my plans for the weekend ๐Ÿ’ญ but I’m still really not sure because I want to avoid the crowds but I need a place with cellphone reception ๐Ÿ“ถ for work plus I’m not sure what the forecast will actually be by next weekend. Maybe Vermont but I’m undecided. Or maybe tent camping locally? ๐Ÿ•

As previously noted, next Monday is Labor Day ๐Ÿ‘จโ€๐Ÿญ when the sun will be setting at 7:18 pm with dusk at 7:47 pm. On that day in 2019, we had mostly sunny and temperatures between 73 and 52 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 76 degrees. We hit a record high of 96 back in 1945.

Good evening! Mostly clear and 60 degrees in Delmar, NY. Calm wind. ๐ŸŒŒ The dew point is 49 degrees. A pretty nice evening if not a bit cool. I went for my evening walk ๐Ÿšถ๐Ÿป and then sat out for a bit.

Hiking at Cole Hill State Forest was nice but loud with those folks siting in their rifles at Cole Hill. They were being safe and had a good back stop but they were loud especially with the larger caliber stuff they were shooting like the AR-15. ๐Ÿ”ซ The 22 and shotguns weren’t they loud in comparison. Shooting is something folks do on public land. ๐ŸŒฒ๐ŸŒณ๐ŸŒฒA lot of wildlife ๐Ÿฟ๏ธ๐Ÿฐ๐Ÿฆ๐Ÿฆ†๐Ÿฆ‰in the newer clear cut up top there.

At the parents house we had a nice picnic ๐Ÿ—which chicken and sweet ๐ŸŒฝ. It was a pretty nice evening. I downloaded a bunch of historical topographic maps I want to study and use for projects. ๐Ÿ‘•๐Ÿ‘–I did my wash while I was out there but these days wearing shorts and reusing clothes multiple days because I work from home I only had one load from the past week. ๐Ÿ‘ƒ๐Ÿป I can be a lot dirtier when I work remotely.

Tonight will be mostly clear ๐ŸŒƒ, with a low of 49 degrees at 4am. Eight degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical night around September 22nd. Light west wind. In 2019, we had mostly clear skies in the evening, which became partly cloudy by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 54 degrees. The record low of 37 occurred back in 1965.

Tonight will have a Waxing Gibbous ๐ŸŒ” Moon with 95% illuminated. At 9 PM, the moon was in the southeast (143ยฐ) at an altitude of 19ยฐ from the horizon, some 242,322 miles away from where you are looking up from the earth. ๐Ÿš€ At the state speed limit of 55 mph, you’ll make it there by March 2nd. Buckle up for safety! ๐Ÿ’บ The Harvest ๐ŸŒฝ Moon is on Tuesday, September 1. The darkest hour is at 12:57 am, followed by dawn at 5:50 am, and sun starting to rise at 6:20 am in the east-northeast (77ยฐ) and last for 2 minutes and 58 seconds. Sunrise is one minute and 4 seconds later than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ„ The golden hour ends at 6:57 am with sun in the east (84ยฐ). Tonight will have 10 hours and 47 minutes of darkness, an increase of 2 minutes and 45 seconds over last night.

Tomorrow will be mostly sunny ๐ŸŒž, with a high of 75 degrees at 4pm. Three degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical day around September 8th. Maximum dew point of 53 at 9am. Calm wind becoming south around 6 mph in the afternoon. A year ago, we had partly cloudy skies in the morning with some clearing in the afternoon. The high last year was 76 degrees. The record high of 93 was set in 1953.

Zoom Meetings tomorrow so I’ll probably work down at the library parking lot ๐Ÿ…ฟ although it might be nice at the Town Park as long as things are charged on the laptops. ๐Ÿ’ป Tomorrow seems like it will be modestly busy but not a crazy ๐Ÿคช Monday but that’s certainly subject to change.

No decisions yet on next weekend but as I told my parents much could change with the forecast ๐ŸŒ€ before then. Honestly I’d prefer to head north the following weekend and avoid the crowds. ๐Ÿ‘ช But if the weather is nice I wouldn’t mind getting away. With remote work and the fact I’m kind of always on call as a supervisor ๐Ÿ“žthere really is no time I’m not working. Weekdays and weekends are kind of the same.

In four weeks on September 27 the sun will be setting in the west (268ยฐ) at 6:43 pm,๐ŸŒ„ which is 49 minutes and 20 seconds earlier then tonight. Amazing how much daylight you loose around the beginning of autumn. In 2019 on that day, we had mostly sunny, patches of fog and temperatures between 72 and 46 degrees. Typically, you have temperatures between 68 and 47 degrees. The record high of 89 degrees was set back in 2017.

Continuing to thumb ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป through bicycle ads on Facebook. ๐Ÿšฒ There certainly are a lot of affordable options. I really should sit down and figure what I really need in a commuter bike. I’m not sure really what I’m looking at but most of the options are quite affordable that I’m seeing being sold. I know a lot of people who are big bike riders, I should ask them for tips. ๐Ÿค”

Because of issues of incompatibility I’ve not been able to upgrade my blog to the latest version of WordPress. ๐Ÿ“ I’ve downloaded the latest version of the software and plan to test it locally to fix the bugs ๐Ÿ› so I can update and avoid security problems. ๐Ÿ”’ I think I know the issue but I need to test it to be sure.

Looking ahead, Average High 70 ๐ŸŽ‘ is in 3 weeks, More Night then Day ๐ŸŒŒ is in 4 weeks, Last Sunset After 6:30 PM ๐ŸŒ† is in 5 weeks, November ๐Ÿฅง is in 9 weeks, Cyber Monday ๐Ÿ›๏ธ and Beaver Moon is in 3 months, First Sunday of Advent โœ๏ธ is in 14 weeks, Saint Nicholas Day ๐ŸŽ… is in 14 weeks, Bacon Day ๐Ÿฅ“ is in 4 months, Latest Sunrise of the Winter ๐ŸŒ„๏ธ is in 18 weeks and Valentines Day โค๏ธ is in 24 weeks.
