June 6, 2020 Night

Good evening! Clear and chilly around 55 degrees at the Perkins Clearing. โ˜” There is a northwest breeze at 10 mph. ๐Ÿƒ. The dew point is 47 degrees. That breeze along with the dampness of the rain earlier make it kind of chilly.

I did lay back in the hammock for a bit until I decided it was getting cold and I put my jeans, ๐Ÿ‘–, hoodie and vest on. I don’t think I was fully prepared for how chilly this evening would be after the rain shower and strong winds pushed through followed by the rainbow ๐ŸŒˆ. Stars โœจ are real pretty now that I’ve cut the lights for the night ๐ŸŒƒ but it’s cold so after sitting by the fire ๐Ÿ”ฅ for a while I hit bed in the truck.

While this campsite โ›บ is quite beautiful ๐Ÿ—ป it is very exposed to the weather. Sunny days are hot. The wind is always quite strong here. ๐Ÿ’จ It’s a great place to be cold and get a sunburn. A few of the days working under the screen tent ๐ŸŽช may have pleasant but they sure where hot.

It was nice hiking ๐Ÿšถ through logging roads down from Mud Pond Road to NY 30, through mixed age woods and some more recently cut areas. Part of the less used part of the logging road was a bit muddy but the recent cut areas are well maintained. ๐ŸŒฒ๐ŸŒฒ๐ŸŒฒDefinitely see a lot of grassland birds including grouse that are relatively uncommon in other parts of the Adirondacks. Seeing the pig rock ๐Ÿฝ up close was neat – I’ve only driven by it before and while I’m not sure if Jessup River under NY 30 has currently enough water to paddle ๐Ÿšฃ it looks like good fishing ๐ŸŽฃ. More photos to come when I get home.

I am afraid my love ๐Ÿ˜ of apple juice ๐Ÿ as an alternative to beer ๐Ÿป due to the recycling returns โ™ป restrictions due to Coronavirus caught up with my after dinner in the sense I had to run to the bucket shitter ๐Ÿ’ฉ twice after dinner. That plus the greasy sausage patty despite the cheese and sauce toping did not help. At least mornings are nicer with no hang over. ๐Ÿ˜– Feeling fine now but I was hot and I pounded the apple juice rather than the water ๐Ÿ’ฆ when I got back to camp.

Tonight will have a slight chance of showers before 11pm. Partly cloudy ๐ŸŒง, with a low of 46 degrees at 6am. Eight degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical night around May 14th. North wind around 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%. In 2019, we had mostly clear skies. It got down to 53 degrees. The record low of 37 occurred back in 1958.

Tonight will have a Full ๐ŸŒ Moon with 97% illuminated. The moon will rise at 9:51 pm. Late enough for some star viewing โœจ before the moons light pollution drowns out everything. The darkest hour is at 12:57 am, followed by dawn at 4:43 am, and sun starting to rise at 5:18 am in the east-northeast (57ยฐ) and last for 3 minutes and 30 seconds. Sunrise is 19 seconds earlier than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ„ The golden hour ends at 6:01 am with sun in the east-northeast (64ยฐ). Tonight will have 8 hours and 40 minutes of darkness, a decrease of 57 seconds over last night.

Tomorrow will be mostly sunny ๐ŸŒž, with a high of 65 degrees at 3pm. 11 degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical day around May 2nd. North wind around 10 mph. A year ago, we had light rain in the morning with more sun in the afternoon. The high last year was 82 degrees. The record high of 95 was set in 1999.

I am still kind of ruminating about the loss of Eli the family dog ๐Ÿถ I hadn’t seen in weeks due to the pandemic. I knew he wasn’t doing all that well and he was getting old for a dog but it just bothers me a lot about so much of the world ๐ŸŒ keeps moving on while we social distance. Virtual life isn’t the same as human contact. I should call ๐Ÿ“ž mom again on Monday. I’m probably going to camp for one or two more nights at a different campsite and work up here for a few days before heading home. I’d still like to do some shore fishing ๐ŸŽฃ at Mason Lake.

In four weeks on July 4 the sun will be setting in the west-northwest (303ยฐ) at 8:41 pm,๐ŸŒ„ which is 5 minutes and 56 seconds later then tonight. In 2019 on that day, we had hot and humid weather, mostly sunny and temperatures between 91 and 66 degrees. Typically, you have temperatures between 82 and 61 degrees. The record high of 104 degrees was set back in 1911.

Looking ahead, Summer ๏ธโ›ฑ๏ธ is in 2 weeks.

June 6, 2020 Morning

Good morning! Happy Saturday. The early morning rain has cleared and the sun is out. Two weeks until the first day of summer ๐Ÿ›. Mostly sunny and 68 degrees at the Perkins Clearing. โ˜€ There is a west-northwest breeze at 7 mph. ๐Ÿƒ. The dew point is 59 degrees.

After the rain showers of the early morning hours โ˜” it had cleared out and gotten fairly nice. I think the solar panel is still in a bit of shadow but I expect it to be cranking out the watts again, some which I’ll dump into the starting battery ๐Ÿ”‹ so I don’t have to start the truck up today.

As expected I didn’t get a real early start this morning ๐Ÿ˜ด preferring to sleep in after staying up late yesterday. I did make coffee up โ˜• and dipped some cookies ๐Ÿช in it but that’s not really a breakfast so I should make some eggs or pancakes on up.

Today will have scattered showers, with thunderstorms also possible after 11am. Partly sunny ๐ŸŒฆ, with a high of 73 degrees at 3pm. Two degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical day around May 30th. Maximum dew point of 59 at 9am. Northwest wind 7 to 14 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms. A year ago, we had light rain in the morning with more sun in the afternoon. The high last year was 76 degrees. The record high of 94 was set in 1925.

Solar noon ๐ŸŒž is at 12:57 pm with sun having an altitude of 69.2ยฐ from the due south horizon (-0.7ยฐ vs. 6/21). A six foot person will cast a 2.3 foot shadow today compared to 2.2 feet on the first day of summer. Pretty close to the highest sun angle of the year. The golden hour ๐Ÿ… starts at 7:53 pm with the sun in the west-northwest (296ยฐ). ๐Ÿ“ธ The sunset is in the west-northwest (303ยฐ) with the sun dropping below the horizon at 8:36 pm after setting for 3 minutes and 29 seconds with dusk around 9:11 pm, which is 41 seconds later than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ‡ The best time to look at the stars is after 9:58 pm. I really doesn’t get dark until late this time of year. At sunset, look for possible rain showers ๐ŸŒง and thunderstorms ๐ŸŒฉ and temperatures around 65 degrees. The dew point will be 49 degrees. There will be a northwest breeze at 7 mph. Today will have 15 hours and 18 minutes of daytime, an increase of one minute over yesterday.

Tonight will be scattered showers and thunderstorms before midnight, then isolated showers between midnight and 3am. Partly cloudy ๐ŸŒง, with a low of 46 degrees at 5am. Eight degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical night around May 14th. North wind around 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms. In 2019, we had mostly clear skies. It got down to 53 degrees. The record low of 37 occurred back in 1958.

So my parents dog ๐Ÿถ Eli passed away. They got him used when I was in college so he was almost fifteen years old when he died. Because of the pandemic I hadn’t seen him since early March but he was getting increasingly elderly and had poor hearing and sight, and was having trouble getting up the stairs. It’s kind of sad how many people and things are passing away quietly while we continue our social distancing. Time keeps marching on but in some ways it doesn’t seem so much with many aspects of our lives in suspension. The Reszin Adam’s documentary with Cynthia Pooler proceeds slowly but it’s increasingly doubtful we’ll ever get to interview her. So many of the old timers are just fading away. ๐Ÿ˜”

As previously noted, there are 2 weeks until the first day of summer ๐Ÿ› when the sun will be setting at 8:42 pm with dusk at 9:17 pm. On that day in 2019, we had humid, mostly cloudy, rain showers and temperatures between 79 and 66 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 79 degrees. We hit a record high of 97 back in 1953.

Campfire After Sunset

June 5, 2020 Night

Good evening! Mostly clear and 70 degrees at the Perkins Clearing. Calm wind. The dew point is 60 degrees. ๐ŸŒƒ

A very pleasant evening with the Strawberry Full Moon. ๐Ÿ“ Fairly mild with the spring peepers and frogs ๐Ÿธ chirping in the background. It wasn’t real hot day but by afternoon it was a bit hot working under the tent. ๐ŸŽช A busy day at work but things that needed to get done got done. Lately the work at work has been pretty dry and boring ๐Ÿ’ค but it was important work that needed to get done.

Tonight will have scattered showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 4am. Patchy fog after 2am. Otherwise, partly cloudy ๐ŸŒง, with a low of 59 degrees at 5am. Five degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical night around June 22nd. Maximum dew point of 60 at 9pm. Light southwest wind. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms. In 2019, we had heavy rain in the evening, which became light rain by the early hours of the morning. It was somewhat humid. It got down to 61 degrees. The record low of 38 occurred back in 1971.

Tonight will have the Strawberry Full Moon. ๐Ÿ“ At 9 PM, the moon was in the east-southeast (123ยฐ) at an altitude of 2ยฐ from the horizon, some 232,774 miles away from where you are looking up from the earth. ๐Ÿš€ At the state speed limit of 55 mph, you’ll make it there by November 29th. Buckle up for safety! The darkest hour is at 12:57 am, followed by dawn at 4:43 am, and sun starting to rise at 5:18 am in the east-northeast (57ยฐ) and last for 3 minutes and 30 seconds. Sunrise is 21 seconds earlier than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ„ The golden hour ends at 6:02 am with sun in the east-northeast (65ยฐ). Tonight will have 8 hours and 41 minutes of darkness, a decrease of one minute and one second over last night.

Tomorrow will have a chance of showers and thunderstorms. Patchy fog before 8am. Otherwise, partly sunny โ˜€, with a high of 71 degrees at 2pm. Four degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical day around May 22nd. Maximum dew point of 60 at 6am. West wind 7 to 15 mph. Chance of precipitation is 50%. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms. A year ago, we had cloudy skies in the morning, which became light rain by afternoon. It became sticky as the day progressed. The high last year was 76 degrees. The record high of 94 was set in 1925.

I am going to do some hiking and fishing ๐ŸŽฃ tomorrow. Nothing too ambitious. Sunday I’ll run out to Speculator for some beer, ice and other food supplies and probably set up camp by Mason Lake for a few days next week โ›บ. Or maybe I’ll head home. Probably not until sometime next week as long as I have decent cell service for work at that other campsite. ๐Ÿ“ถ Also maybe some hammock time and reading. ๐Ÿ“– Don’t plan to get out of bed early tomorrow as I’m staying up late tonight ๐ŸŒ• with the full moon lighting the land up all around and no bugs at night ๐ŸŒƒ and possible rain โ˜” in the morning. Sleep in late enough and things will start to clear.

In four weeks on July 3 the sun will be setting in the west-northwest (303ยฐ) at 8:41 pm,๐ŸŒ„ which is 6 minutes and 53 seconds later then tonight. In 2019 on that day, we had hot, partly sunny, shallow fog and temperatures between 90 and 63 degrees. Typically, you have temperatures between 82 and 61 degrees. The record high of 102 degrees was set back in 1911.

Rain at Rossman Hill

June 5, 2020 Morning

Good morning! Today 8:30 PM Sunset ๏ธโ›ฑ๏ธ. Partly cloudy and 70 degrees at the Perkins Clearing. โ›… There is a west-southwest breeze at 6 mph. ๐Ÿƒ. The dew point is 61 degrees.

A pretty nice summer morning. โ˜€ Laying back in the hammock – with the breeze, Picardin on the legs and a hammock sprayed with Permethrin its not too buggy. ๐Ÿ›

Rained for a while โ˜” last night but by morning things were clearing out by morning. Things were just a little damp by morning.

I expect it will be a nice day for working remotely from up in the woods. ๐Ÿ’ป I good cell phone reception ๐Ÿ“ถ here and ample sun for solar power. Maybe even take the laptop and work from the hammock as I look out at the clouds and mountains or if I do need to work from the table use the binoculars for bird watching. ๐Ÿฆ

Today will have isolated showers before 11am, then isolated showers and thunderstorms after 1pm. Mostly sunny ๐ŸŒฆ, with a high of 80 degrees at 3pm. Five degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical day around June 22nd. Maximum dew point of 61 at 10am. Southwest wind 6 to 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%. A year ago, we had cloudy skies in the morning, which became light rain by afternoon. It became sticky as the day progressed. The high last year was 83 degrees. Tonight will have 8 hours and 41 minutes of darkness, a decrease of one minute and one second over last night.

Tonight will have scattered showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 2am. Mostly cloudy ๐ŸŒง, with a low of 60 degrees at 5am. Six degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical night around June 27th. Maximum dew point of 59 at 8pm. Southwest wind 3 to 6 mph.

The lantern post I bought to use the lantern in the tent๐Ÿฎ worked quite well. I am quite happy with it. Still having some problems with the lantern with one of the mantles not getting proper gas pressure. I may try to take it apart if I have some downtime today at work. But I don’t know – it might be a pretty busy day at work. ๐Ÿ“

In four weeks on July 3 the sun will be setting in the west-northwest (303ยฐ) at 8:41 pm,๐ŸŒ„ which is 6 minutes and 53 seconds later then today. Campfire After Sunset

June 4, 2020 Night

Good evening! Partly cloudy and 64 degrees at the Perkins Clearing. ๐ŸŒƒ There is a southwest breeze at 5 mph. ๐Ÿƒ. The dew point is 55 degrees. A pretty nice evening to be up in the Adirondacks.

It is nice to be up north camping โ›บ but don’t get me wrong, it was still very much so a working day. I might of set up camp at the same end of the day but for most of the day I was actually quite busy. But I plan to work from camp tomorrow and heavierhave a quiet weekend, probably just hiking from camp to fishing and swimming holes. ๐ŸŠ That said by Sunday the high is only going to be around 70 and if I move to a different campsite come Monday highs will only be in the sixties.

It was a long trip north. ๐Ÿš™ Traffic seemed a bit heavier with the lock down ending ๐Ÿ”“ and the fact I left about a half hour later as I didn’t need to get a campsite before work. I’ve been staying up too late lately and tonight is no exception although there is no reason for me to get up early tomorrow morning and even less for Saturday. Yes I have to clock in a nine but I can still be cooking breakfast ๐Ÿณ while I boot the laptop and clock in. All the wires and power is run for the morning, setting up should be a breeze.

With the wind this afternoon ๐Ÿƒ I ended up working from my truck at the Speculator Library. I found it hard to hear client calls ๐Ÿ“ž by the lake and it looks bad if they could hear waves cashing in the background. It wasn’t super hot today and while it was pleasant working down by the lake I wanted to have unrestricted internet so I could watch YouTube in a picture in pictures window while I worked. ๐Ÿ’ป

Believe it or not the bugs ๐Ÿœ are worse now than a two weeks ago over Memorial Day Weekend. Only black flies then but now the horse flies are out as are some mosquitoes. The screen tent ๐ŸŽช helps a lot if I’m careful not to let them in but even after dark the hammock ain’t that great.

That said by 9 pm the worst of the bugs were done ๐Ÿœ and I had a big ol fire around ten once the wind died๐Ÿ”ฅ. Stayed up another two hours, partly next to the fire and partially in the hammock. Too many clouds โ˜ to get a good view of the full moon ๐ŸŒ• or see the land all lit in moonlight.

Tonight will be mostly cloudy ๐ŸŒฅ, with a low of 57 degrees at 4am. Four degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical night around June 15th. Maximum dew point of 57 at 6am. Southwest wind around 5 mph. In 2019, we had light rain in the evening, which became cloudy by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 55 degrees. The record low of 39 occurred back in 1990.

Tonight will have a Full ๐ŸŒ Moon with 99% illuminated. At 11 PM, the moon was in the south-southeast (158ยฐ) at an altitude of 24ยฐ from the horizon, some 230,582 miles away from where you are looking up from the earth. ๐Ÿš€ At the state speed limit of 55 mph, you’ll make it there by November 26th. Buckle up for safety! ๐Ÿ’บ The Strawberry ๐Ÿ“ Moon is on Friday, June 5. The darkest hour is at 12:57 am, followed by dawn at 4:44 am, and sun starting to rise at 5:19 am in the east-northeast (57ยฐ) and last for 3 minutes and 29 seconds. Sunrise is 23 seconds earlier than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ„ The golden hour ends at 6:02 am with sun in the east-northeast (65ยฐ). Tonight will have 8 hours and 42 minutes of darkness, a decrease of one minute and 5 seconds over last night.

Tomorrow will have a slight chance of showers between 10am and 11am, then a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms after 11am. Partly sunny , with a high of 79 degrees at 3pm. Four degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical day around June 17th. Maximum dew point of 60 at 8am. Southwest wind 3 to 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%. A year ago, we had partly cloudy skies in the morning, which became light rain by afternoon. The high last year was 83 degrees. The record high of 97 was set in 1925.

In four weeks on July 2 the sun will be setting in the west-northwest (303ยฐ) at 8:42 pm,๐ŸŒ„ which is 7 minutes and 49 seconds later then tonight. In 2019 on that day, we had partly sunny and temperatures between 84 and 65 degrees. Typically, you have temperatures between 82 and 60 degrees. The record high of 98 degrees was set back in 1966.

Middle Lake 3

May 29, 2020 Night

Good evening! Cloudy, damp and 72 degrees in Delmar, NY. โ˜ There is a south breeze at 7 mph. ๐Ÿƒ. The dew point is 66 degrees. Kind of a muggy summer night. The skies will clear tomorrow around 9 am.

It Sasa hot and sometimes rainy and often steamy day. ๐Ÿ’ฆ Some big rain drops from the storms. I did get my wash done but it was hot working in the truck. The fan and the reflective board made working in the truck quite bareable. There was a few projects that didn’t get done while I was at the library but I got a lot done that I had planned to do while I was down there.

With the humidity and general stickiness this evening I decided to get out my trimmer, set the blade to half inch and pretend to be a barber ๐Ÿ’ˆ trimming my hair down. Is it straight? Is it perfect? Probably not but what do I care in the era of social distancing. It’s going to grow back but for now shorter if not a bit more uneven hair is fine and a heck of a lot more comfortable in the heat. If it’s not perfect we’ll, who cares, Zoom meetings are low resolution at any rate. After my hair cut ๐Ÿ’‡ I took a shower ๐Ÿšฟ because I was itchy from all the pieces of hair everywhere. Now I feel a lot cooler and my hats should fit well with less hair. I might touch it up further in the morning.

As I mentioned earlier, today was a busy one. ๐Ÿ‘š I did get down to the laundromat but not to the store ๐Ÿฌ. I’ll have to do that tomorrow. Maybe Aldi in Rensselaer, I like their products and quick in and out which is good during the pandemic. I can always order most other things like personal care products from Walmart online. ๐Ÿ Maybe I can combine that with hiking and bird watching at Schodack Island if I can figure out what to do for lunch. Or maybe kayaking in Schodack Creek and the Hudson River? ๐Ÿšฃ Intriguing possibility.

Tonight will have a chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy ๐ŸŒง, with a low of 64 degrees at 6am. 12 degrees above normal. Maximum dew point of 66 at 11pm. South wind around 7 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40%. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms. In 2019, we had cloudy skies in the evening, which became mostly clear by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 59 degrees. The record low of 33 occurred back in 1967.

Tonight will have a First Quarter ๐ŸŒ“ Moon with 51% illuminated. At 11 PM, the moon was in the west-southwest (255ยฐ) at an altitude of 34ยฐ from the horizon, some 228,075 miles away from where you are looking up from the earth. ๐Ÿš€ At the state speed limit of 55 mph, you’ll make it there by November 18th. Buckle up for safety! ๐Ÿ’บ The Strawberry ๐Ÿ“ Moon is on Friday, June 5. The darkest hour is at 12:54 am, followed by dawn at 4:49 am, and sun starting to rise at 5:23 am in the east-northeast (59ยฐ) and last for 3 minutes and 22 seconds. Sunrise is 34 seconds earlier than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ„ The golden hour ends at 6:05 am with sun in the east-northeast (66ยฐ). Tonight will have 8 hours and 56 minutes of darkness, a decrease of one minute and 22 seconds over last night.

Tomorrow will have a slight chance of showers before 10am. Partly sunny ๐ŸŒž, with a high of 77 degrees at 4pm. Four degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical day around June 10th. Maximum dew point of 59 at 6am. Northwest wind 8 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%. A year ago, we had partly cloudy skies in the morning with some clearing in the afternoon. The high last year was 72 degrees. The record high of 92 was set in 1987.

Definitely sounds like a nice day tomorrow once the rain pushes off and not as hot ๐Ÿ”ฅ. I’m thinking a fairly quiet day tomorrow but my pantry is so bare I need to get shopping soon ๐Ÿ”œ. Been kind of a busy week with camping in the Adirondacks and work picking up lately. Do I’m ready for a break.

I got in the mail the propane tree for the lantern ๐Ÿฎ like we had at Boy Scouts allowing me to mount the lantern right on the tank without having to run a rope to hang the lantern. The reviews were mixed on these and they can be unstable when the tanks are empty but I needed one if I wanted to use the lantern in the screen house ๐ŸŽช or campsites where no trees are nearby for hanging a rope. I got the type with a metal male connector to the tank so hopefully it won’t crack and break off. While I have electric at camp the lantern uses very little propane and works even if I trip on a wire or there is an under voltage condition.

In four weeks on June 26 the sun will be setting in the west-northwest (303ยฐ) at 8:37 pm,๐ŸŒ„ which is 12 minutes and 55 seconds later then tonight. In 2019 on that day, we had hot, humid, mostly sunny, thunderstorm and temperatures between 87 and 61 degrees. Typically, you have temperatures between 81 and 59 degrees. The record high of 99 degrees was set back in 1952.

Looking ahead, 8:30 PM Sunset ๏ธโ›ฑ๏ธ is in 1 week.

Waterfall on the Long Path

May 29, 2020 Afternoon

Good afternoon! Did you notice it was a Friday already? I didn’t because I spent the first half of the week working from the Adirondacks. But running low on food and supplies I decided I had to go home ๐Ÿก. Hit and humid and 85 degrees in Delmar, NY. โ›… There is a south breeze at 13 mph. ๐Ÿƒ. The dew point is 70 degrees. The heat index is 90. Definitely kind of a sultry afternoon, I had the fan blowing on my while I was working from home this morning. The skies will clear tomorrow around 9 am.

Hot and muggy enough this morning that I decided to work from my desk in the bedroom ๐Ÿ’ป because I figured it would be super hot working down at the library. I got the windshield reflector I got ordered last week in part to make it cooler working in the truck during the pandemic but also for camping as I often store the coolers up front and lately I park in the sun intentionally for the solar charging โ˜€ of the batteries. ๐Ÿ”‹

It’s been a busy to start out work. ๐Ÿ“ Memos needed to be written emails ๐Ÿ“ง sent, phone calls fielded and triaged. Before work I also worked on some research for Save the Pine Bush. ๐ŸŒฒI am getting really good at working with tax maps, records and deeds. I can geo reference tax maps quickly and vectorize them fairly quickly.

This afternoon will have a chance of showers and thunderstorms. Partly sunny โ˜€, with a high of 87 degrees at 2pm. 14 degrees above normal. Maximum dew point of 70 at 1pm. South wind around 14 mph. Chance of precipitation is 50%. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms. A year ago, we had partly cloudy skies in the morning with some clearing in the afternoon. The high last year was 64 degrees. The record high of 93 was set in 1931.

This afternoon I’ll head to the laundromat and then to the grocery store. ๐Ÿ‘š I have a lot of dirty clothes from camping although now that I’m wearing shorts, not quite as much as I might otherwise have. ๐Ÿ I’m really digging in the pantry so I probably should go shopping. I also want to get to the car wash. ๐Ÿšฟ

With the choppy weather possible today I’m glad I’m not camping. โ›บ I always worry a bit about a storm washing out a road or a tree coming down and blocking my route home. โšก I’m not sure anything that severe will hit this afternoon but you never know with these springtime thunderstorms.

Solar noon ๐ŸŒž is at 12:54 pm with sun having an altitude of 69.1ยฐ from the due south horizon (-1.7ยฐ vs. 6/21). A six foot person will cast a 2.3 foot shadow today compared to 2.2 feet on the first day of summer. The golden hour ๐Ÿ… starts at 7:43 pm with the sun in the west-northwest (294ยฐ). ๐Ÿ“ธ The sunset is in the west-northwest (301ยฐ) with the sun dropping below the horizon at 8:25 pm after setting for 3 minutes and 22 seconds with dusk around 8:58 pm, which is 50 seconds later than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ‡ At dusk you’ll see the First Quarter ๐ŸŒ“ Moon in the southwest (225ยฐ) at an altitude of 53ยฐ from the horizon, 228,203 miles away. ๐Ÿš€ The best time to look at the stars is after 9:42 pm. At sunset, look for rain ๐ŸŒง and thunderstorms ๐ŸŒฉ and temperatures around 77 degrees. The dew point will be 67 degrees. There will be a south breeze at 11 mph. Today will have 15 hours and 3 minutes of daytime, an increase of one minute and 24 seconds over yesterday.

Tonight will have showers and thunderstorms likely. Some storms could be severe, with damaging winds. โšก Mostly cloudy ๐ŸŒฉ, with a low of 65 degrees at 6am. 13 degrees above normal.
