May 13, 2020 Morning

Good morning! What day is it? Hump Day, of course. The weekend is getting closer but working from home it doesn’t seem like much of a change. Six weeks to Latest Sunset ๐ŸŒ†. Sunny and 36 degrees in Delmar, NY. ๐ŸŒž There is a west breeze at 6 mph. ๐Ÿƒ.

Another sunny but cool day on tap. โ›ฒ I will probably go for my morning walk ๐Ÿšถ before walk and get some fresh air before getting down to work at nine. Maybe if it’s warm enough I’ll sit out back for work. ๐Ÿฆ Birds are chirping this morning but still cool for mid May. But the heat is coming starting in about a week. Going to be hot to round out the month.

Today will be sunny ๐ŸŒž, with a high of 57 degrees at 3pm. 12 degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical day around April 13th. Northwest wind 6 to 16 mph, with gusts as high as 29 mph. A year ago, we had mostly sunny skies in the morning, which became light rain by afternoon. The high last year was 54 degrees. The record high of 86 was set in 2004. There was a dusting of snow in 1953.โ„

I have a list of things ๐Ÿ“ƒ I’d like to get at Walmart today. I’m thinking of going shopping during my lunch break to avoid the crowds. I need a spray bottle for the Permethrin application to my jeans ๐Ÿ‘– as I want to try that out tomorrow maybe after going to the laundromat when there is still sun to dry the clothes outside. I also need to get some socks, frozen fruit for breakfast and snacks, more meat and eggs ๐Ÿณ. Also maybe another pair of Bluetooth headphones. ๐ŸŽง

Solar noon ๐ŸŒž is at 12:53 pm with sun having an altitude of 65.9ยฐ from the due south horizon (-4.9ยฐ vs. 6/21). Doesn’t get much higher in the sky. A six foot person will cast a 2.7 foot shadow today compared to 2.2 feet on the first day of summer. The golden hour ๐Ÿ… starts at 7:29 pm with the sun in the west-northwest (290ยฐ). ๐Ÿ“ธ The sunset is in the west-northwest (297ยฐ) with the sun dropping below the horizon at 8:10 pm after setting for 3 minutes and 14 seconds with dusk around 8:41 pm, which is one minute and 4 seconds later than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ‡ The best time to look at the stars is after 9:22 pm. At sunset, look for clear skies ๐ŸŒ„ and temperatures around 50 degrees. There will be a west-northwest breeze at 10 mph. Today will have 14 hours and 34 minutes of daytime, an increase of 2 minutes and 8 seconds over yesterday.

Tonight will have patchy frost after 2am. Otherwise, clear ๐ŸŒƒ, with a low of 32 degrees at 4am. 14 degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical night around April 2nd. West wind 5 to 10 mph becoming light and variable after midnight. In 2019, we had light rain in the evening, which became light drizzle by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 40 degrees. The record low of 30 occurred back in 1996.

Right now, a split verdict on the weekend. ๐Ÿ˜• Saturday, mostly sunny, with a high near 72. Maximum dew point of 51 at 8am. Sunday, a chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 67. Chance of precipitation is 50%. Maximum dew point of 49 at 1pm. Typical average high for the weekend is 70 degrees.

The weekend forecast still looks decent Saturday โ˜€ but also not so great for Friday and Sunday. I think my best option is to stay home this weekend. Maybe I will go up north Memorial Day Weekend. If I do that I’ll probably take off a week from Friday and leave before dawn on Friday to ensure that I can get a campsite. Probably Piseco Powley Road โ›บ but maybe not. It depends a lot on the final forecast – saying all of Memorial Day Weekend will be 80 and sunny is uncertain. If I do go up north that will be after spraying my clothes with Permethrin and using the screen house ๐ŸŽช as it’s bound to be buggy.

Looking ahead, there are 6 weeks until Latest Sunset ๐ŸŒ† when the sun will be setting at 8:37 pm with dusk at 9:12 pm. On that day in 2019, we had partly cloudy and temperatures between 85 and 56 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 80 degrees. We hit a record high of 96 back in 1943.

Spring will arrive

May 12, 2020 Night

Good evening! Partly cloudy and 42 degrees in Delmar, NY. โ›… There is a west-northwest breeze at 11 mph. ๐Ÿƒ with gusts up to 21 mph ๐Ÿ’จ๐Ÿ’จ๐Ÿ’จ. The skies will clear around 10 pm.

Kind of a chilly evening ๐ŸŒƒ when I went for my evening walk ๐Ÿšถ but I’m not complaining, the muggers will be here before you know it. You will be dripping in sweat ๐Ÿ˜ฐ and while it will get nicer after dark it still will mean sticky conditions for sleeping. I’m hoping though come a few weeks my old office ๐Ÿข will be open and things will be cool and air conditioned once again.

I ordered the screen house tent ๐ŸŽช for camping. I’m not going to use it a lot because it’s a fair amount of work to take down and set back up but for long holiday weekends and summer vacations I plan to use it to escape the bugs and rain. I also ordered a propane lantern tree so I can use that when I don’t have a good place to hang the lantern like in the screen house. Took advantage of both the money ๐Ÿ’ต I got for my birthday ๐ŸŽ‚ from my parents and the gift card ๐Ÿ“ฆ I got from CDTA for participating in their online fact finding group.

A pretty quiet day at work, ๐Ÿ’ผ I ended up spending most of the day down at the library parking lot as it was quiet there and nice sunny weather for using the Wi-Fi. โ˜€ At one point there was five cars there with people getting on the web. Become popular. Honestly, I could get Wi-Fi at home but I like working down at the library or Five Rivers using my personal laptop and the charger running off the solar.

Another cold night on tap. Tonight will have areas of frost after 1am. Otherwise, partly cloudy ๐ŸŒฅ, with a low of 33 degrees at 4am. 13 degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical night around April 5th. West wind 6 to 11 mph, with gusts as high as 21 mph. In 2019, we had light rain in the evening, which became mostly clear by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 42 degrees. The record low of 30 occurred back in 2005.

Tonight will have a Last Quarter ๐ŸŒ— Moon with 65% illuminated. The Flower ๐ŸŒท Moon is on Wednesday, May 27. The darkest hour is at 12:53 am, followed by dawn at 5:05 am, and sun starting to rise at 5:37 am in the east-northeast (64ยฐ) and last for 3 minutes and 13 seconds. Sunrise is one minute and 6 seconds earlier than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ„ The golden hour ends at 6:17 am with sun in the east-northeast (71ยฐ). Tonight will have 9 hours and 26 minutes of darkness, a decrease of 2 minutes and 8 seconds over last night.

Tomorrow will be sunny ๐ŸŒž, with a high of 57 degrees at 3pm. 12 degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical day around April 13th. Northwest wind 8 to 17 mph. A year ago, we had light rain. The high last year was 54 degrees. The record high of 86 was set in 2004. There was a dusting of snow in 1953.โ„

In four weeks on June 9 the sun will be setting in the west-northwest (303ยฐ) at 8:32 pm,๐ŸŒ„ which is 24 minutes and 12 seconds later then tonight. In 2019 on that day, we had mostly sunny and temperatures between 83 and 49 degrees. Typically, you have temperatures between 76 and 55 degrees. The record high of 100 degrees was set back in 1933.

Looking ahead, Primary Day ๐Ÿ—ณ๏ธ is in 6 weeks, Election Day 2020 ๐Ÿ—ณ๏ธ is in 25 weeks and Election Day 2020 ๐Ÿ—ณ๏ธ is in 25 weeks.

๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ๐Ÿฆ…Only 10 days remain until the start of Memorial Day Weekend!๐Ÿฆ…๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ

Spring will arrive

May 11, 2020 Morning

Good morning! Monday’s come back around again.๐Ÿ‘”Another week of working from home ๐Ÿก but at least it’s a pay week.๐Ÿ’ฐMostly cloudy and 42 degrees in Delmar, NY. โ˜ There is a south breeze at 5 mph. ๐Ÿƒ. The skies will clear tomorrow around noontime.

Not a real nice morning but I’ll get up and shower and get ready for work. I’d like to get to the library to download more data and upload more maps and photos to the blog. ๐Ÿ“š I heard that soon the library may be opening for library book curbside pick up so I can get some more books to read. That would be cool especially with summer underway. ๐Ÿ˜Ž

I went for a walk ๐Ÿšถ around the superblock past the high school ๐Ÿšธ and got some fresh air before work today. I was surprised how many people I saw out and about. Not a real nice day but I think people want to get out before the rain starts โ˜” and truth be told not a real nice weekend.

Today will have showers likely, with thunderstorms also possible after 1pm. Some of the storms could produce small hail and gusty winds. Mostly cloudy ๐ŸŒฆ, with a high of 55 degrees at 1pm. 13 degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical day around April 9th. South wind 5 to 7 mph becoming west in the afternoon. Kind of a cool and dreary day. ๐Ÿ˜ฏ Chance of precipitation is 70%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms. Not a real soaker. A year ago, we had cloudy skies in the morning with more sun in the afternoon. The high last year was 65 degrees. The record high of 90 was set in 1911. 0.5 inches of snow fell back in 1907.โ„

Solar noon ๐ŸŒž is at 12:53 pm with sun having an altitude of 65.4ยฐ from the due south horizon (-5.4ยฐ vs. 6/21). A six foot person will cast a 2.7 foot shadow today compared to 2.2 feet on the first day of summer. The golden hour ๐Ÿ… starts at 7:27 pm with the sun in the west-northwest (289ยฐ). ๐Ÿ“ธ The sunset is in the west-northwest (296ยฐ) with the sun dropping below the horizon at 8:07 pm after setting for 3 minutes and 12 seconds with dusk around 8:38 pm, which is one minute and 4 seconds later than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ‡ The best time to look at the stars is after 9:19 pm. At sunset, look for rain showers ๐ŸŒง and temperatures around 48 degrees. There will be a west-northwest breeze at 14 mph. Today will have 14 hours and 30 minutes of daytime, an increase of 2 minutes and 11 seconds over yesterday.

Tonight will have a chance of showers, mainly before 9pm. Mostly cloudy ๐ŸŒง, with a low of 37 degrees at 5am. Nine degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical night around April 15th. Northwest wind 10 to 14 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible. In 2019, we had mostly clear skies in the evening, which became light rain by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 43 degrees. The record low of 29 occurred back in 1969.

My bottle ๐Ÿถ of perthemerian is supposed to arrive mid week and I will pick up a couple of spray bottles probably from Walmart. I think that’s the fastest, safest and most economical way to apply it to my clothes. I’ll probably spray only a few pair of jeans ๐Ÿ‘– and shirts ๐Ÿ‘š at first to ensure it doesn’t stain clothes or It shouldn’t but you never know. I only have one week left of doxycycline and I don’t want to get Lyme again this summer.๐Ÿœ Even if I do go down to the park I’ll probably sit in a bench rather than on the grass. ๐ŸŒพ

A fairly decent weekend with seasonal weather. Saturday, partly sunny, with a high near 73. Maximum dew point of 52 at 6am. โ˜€ Sunday, a chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 70. โ˜ Chance of precipitation is 50%. Maximum dew point of 53 at 1pm. Typical average high for the weekend is 70 degrees.

I’d like to get out of town this weekend โ›บ but I think it might be kind of gray and rainy like this past weekend. Not sure it’s something to watch. Next week through Memorial Day Weekend looks fairly mild. Not seeing a lot of 80s but I could see things getting that warm as we head into June. I wonder how hot it will be Memorial Day Weekend? ๐ŸŠ I am still thinking that following week to camp but if that’s the week my ordinary office ๐Ÿข downtown reopens that might not be a possibility to take a long weekend.

Reflections

May 8, 2020 11 AM Update

Good morning! Yeah, it’s Friday! Seems like just another day working from home on weekdays, especially when I’m staying in town this weekend. ๐ŸกBut maybe it will be nice this next weekend. Four weeks to 8:30 PM Sunset ๏ธโ›ฑ๏ธ. Despite the cold and snow tomorrow, summer is coming. It’s May after all and mid May by next week.

All and all a nice morning today. Partly sunny and 49 degrees in Delmar, NY. โ˜€ There is a west-southwest breeze at 10 mph. ๐Ÿƒ.

Before work today I went for a very pleasant nearly two hour walk ๐Ÿšถ around the rail trail starting at 7 AM. So quiet with everything closed down on buses only running their Saturday schedules. ๐Ÿš Very little traffic early on although there were some joggers and a county DOT worker ๐Ÿ‘ท mowing the trail. Saw a Blue Jay, ๐Ÿฆ got a nice picture. Home by nine for work.

Today will have a chance of rain, mainly after 3pm. Increasing clouds ๐ŸŒž, with a high of 54 degrees at 2pm. 13 degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical day around April 6th. West wind around 11 mph, with gusts as high as 21 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible. A year ago, we had mostly sunny skies. The high last year was 67 degrees. The record high of 91 was set in 1936. There was a dusting of snow in 1977.โ„

Going to be a bit cool today โ˜€ but I want to work outside as much as possible so I can enjoy the sunshine. I’ve started to get a good tan from last weekend and the past few days working outside but I have to be careful about not getting sun burnt with the doxycycline.

Solar noon ๐ŸŒž is at 12:53 pm with sun having an altitude of 64.6ยฐ from the due south horizon (-6.2ยฐ vs. 6/21). A six foot person will cast a 2.8 foot shadow today compared to 2.2 feet on the first day of summer. The golden hour ๐Ÿ… starts at 7:24 pm with the sun in the west-northwest (288ยฐ). ๐Ÿ“ธ The sunset is in the west-northwest (295ยฐ) with the sun dropping below the horizon at 8:04 pm after setting for 3 minutes and 11 seconds with dusk around 8:35 pm, which is one minute and 5 seconds later than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ‡ The best time to look at the stars is after 9:15 pm. At sunset, look for rain ๐ŸŒง and temperatures around 43 degrees. There will be a northwest breeze at 8 mph. Today will have 14 hours and 23 minutes of daytime, an increase of 2 minutes and 17 seconds over yesterday.

This afternoon I want to work at Five Rivers Environmental Education Center ๐Ÿธ because it will be nice enjoy the day and get some more walking in before the rain begins. โ˜” I’m feeling really good now that the doxycycline has kicked in ๐Ÿ’Š and won the battle so far against the Lyme.

Tonight will rain likely before 10pm, then rain and snow likely between 10pm and 11pm, then snow likely after 11pm. Cloudy ๐ŸŒง, with a low of 33 degrees at 4am. 12 degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical night around April 5th. Northwest wind 7 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New snow accumulation of less than one inch possible. In 2019, we had partly cloudy skies. It got down to 40 degrees. The record low of 27 occurred back in 1956.

Tomorrow will have a chance of snow showers before 9am, then a chance of rain and snow showers between 9am and noon, then a chance of rain showers after noon. Mostly cloudy ๐ŸŒฆ, with a high of 43 degrees at 1pm. 24 degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical day around March 14th. Breezy, with a northwest wind 15 to 24 mph, with gusts as high as 40 mph. Chance of precipitation is 50%. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible. A year ago, we had mostly sunny skies. The high last year was 66 degrees. The record high of 93 was set in 1979. 1.6 inches of snow fell back in 1977.โ„

Looking ahead to Sunday, partly sunny, with a high near 53. West wind 14 to 16 mph. That’s going to be a bitterly cold Mother’s Day. ๐Ÿ‘ฉโค Maybe it’s good there is no tulip ๐ŸŒท festival this year. Typical average high for the weekend is 67 degrees.

Looking ahead, there are 4 weeks until 8:30 PM Sunset ๏ธโ›ฑ๏ธ when the sun will be setting at 8:29 pm with dusk at 9:04 pm. On that day in 2019, we had rain and temperatures between 83 and 55 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 75 degrees. We hit a record high of 97 back in 1925.

Very Shallow and Marshy Here

May 7, 2020 Morning

Good morning! Happy Flower Moon ๐ŸŒ•! Been so cold fewer flowers ๐ŸŒท then normal this time of year but still quite nice. Sunny and 51 degrees in Delmar, NY. ๐ŸŒž Calm wind. A beautiful morning. Temperatures will drop below freezing at Saturday around morning. โ˜ƒ๏ธ

Beautiful morning. โ˜บ. Started my day with a nice walk ๐Ÿšถ around the super block and then I’m planning to work outside most of the day. ๐Ÿ’ผ Maybe go down to the library books ๐Ÿ“š where I can work with the faster internet and upload new stuff to the site blog. ๐ŸŒธ

Feeling quite well now ๐Ÿ’Š with the doxycycline doing its magic. Aches and soreness in my legs are mostly home not as tired ๐Ÿ˜ด. Lyme disease sucks. Heck even my phone ๐Ÿ“ฑ autocomplete knows that now. I was told that the reason I was so much more tired and sick from the doxycycline this time was the Lyme disease infection was recent and the disease was much more of a fight. Pretty good now but still a bit sore.

Today will be sunny ๐ŸŒž, with a high of 63 degrees at 2pm. Four degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical day around April 27th. Light northwest wind becoming west 6 to 11 mph in the morning. A year ago, we had cloudy skies in the morning, which became light rain by afternoon. The high last year was 66 degrees. The record high of 92 was set in 1930. 0.2 inches of snow fell back in 1967.โ„

I’m thinking about going down to the Pepscanne Preserve ๐Ÿฆ this afternoon if the weather is nice. I really enjoy seeing all the birds down there and sitting out by the river especially on such a beautiful day. Then get groceries at Aldi’s and gas. โ›ฝ

Solar noon ๐ŸŒž is at 12:53 pm with sun having an altitude of 64.4ยฐ from the due south horizon (-6.5ยฐ vs. 6/21). A six foot person will cast a 2.9 foot shadow today compared to 2.2 feet on the first day of summer. The golden hour ๐Ÿ… starts at 7:23 pm with the sun in the west-northwest (288ยฐ). ๐Ÿ“ธ The sunset is in the west-northwest (294ยฐ) with the sun dropping below the horizon at 8:03 pm after setting for 3 minutes and 10 seconds with dusk around 8:34 pm, which is one minute and 6 seconds later than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ‡ The best time to look at the stars is after 9:14 pm. At sunset, look for out for rain showers ๐ŸŒง and temperatures around 53 degrees. There will be a west breeze at 8 mph. Today will have 14 hours and 21 minutes of daytime, an increase of 2 minutes and 20 seconds over yesterday.

Tonight will have a chance of showers, mainly before midnight. Mostly cloudy, then gradual clearing toward daybreak ๐ŸŒง, with a low of 36 degrees at 5am. Nine degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical night around April 12th. West wind around 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible. In 2019, we had mostly clear skies. It got down to 44 degrees. The record low of 26 occurred back in 1968.

Mothers Day Weekend looks cold but Sunday might be slightly better. ๐Ÿ˜ Saturday, a chance of snow before 8am, then a chance of rain and snow showers between 8am and 10am, then a chance of rain showers after 10am. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 44. Breezy, with a west wind 16 to 23 mph, with gusts as high as 39 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40%. Sunday, mostly sunny, with a high near 52. Typical average high for the weekend is 67 degrees. Saturday is definitely a stay home day. ๐Ÿก The internet will be happy ๐Ÿ˜Š. Sunday maybe I can see if I can get another tick bite at Partridge Run? ๐Ÿ‘€Or not.

One month ๐Ÿ“… from now will be Strawberry Moon ๐ŸŒ• when the sun will be setting at 8:31 pm with dusk at 9:05 pm. The average high temperature is 32 degrees, with a record high of 61 in 1895.

 Horseshoe Falls

May 3, 2020 10 PM Update

Good evening! Partly clear and 64 degrees in Delmar, NY. There is a west breeze at 6 mph. ๐Ÿƒ. The dew point is 46 degrees. Nice evening, sat out back for a while. Not feeling terrible but still a little achy from the Lyme. I still need to take the doxycline I got from the doctor Friday. ๐Ÿ’Š

Sleeping with the windows open tonight โฌ› which is nice until I heard the sirens from the meat wagon ๐Ÿš‘go roaring by. I wonder if it’s somebody dying of Coronavirus? Hopefully nobody I know. It’s a question one always asks these days.

I thought about staying up north one more night and driving home early tomorrow ๐Ÿš˜ but I decided against that as I broke camp midday to go hiking. ๐Ÿšถ While hiking the remote section of the abandoned Dunning Pond Snowmobile Trail was quiet I eventually lost the trail as it got into dense woods with lots of trees down and few of the old markers. ๐Ÿ”ด Some nice views of the gorge and then a lot of it was an eroded mountain road until the trail left the road and disappeared into the woods. This wouldn’t have been a big problem if I had the GPS tracks from my Google County Maps part of the blog but of course I managed to somehow delete them off my phone. I got to make sure I have them on the phone along with USGS Topo maps saved. I would have also had a better chance of following the herd path up to Eagle Pond that I had lost on Saturday if I had that data saved. ๐ŸŒWell there always is future trips up north.

It was a pretty good weekend up north ๐Ÿ˜Ž with lots of sun and actually quite mild and warm most of the weekend except for brief rain shower around 10 pm Saturday night ๐Ÿ’ฆwhen I ended up retiring to my truck cap earlier than I had planned. Had a nice big fire ๐Ÿ”ฅ at the same campsite I’ve been at the past few times I’ve been up north on the East Branch Sacandaga River. โ›บ Some traffic ๐Ÿšฅ noise but pretty nice. Spent a lot of time laying back in the hammock, soaking up the sun. โ˜€ The sun felt good especially when I felt achy from the Lyme. Warm enough a good portion of the weekend I could just lay out with a t shirt ๐Ÿ‘š on.

Left my Bluetooth speaker ๐Ÿ”Š home which was annoying when I wanted to listen to podcasts and music ๐ŸŽถ. I’m going to start leaving that in the truck. Better to charge it there too – I don’t pay for the unused solar power the truck produces while parked with the solar controller in float mode. ๐Ÿ”‹ Also forgot ketchup for my hotdogs – ended up topping them with baked beans and cheese. ๐Ÿฃ

Explored more of the Fox Lair remains, I want to do one of those historical aerial photo comparisons, especially if I can find the 1942 aerial photo ๐Ÿ“ท. Not a lot left of the ruins, but I wonder if I can find more old pictures on the internet. ๐ŸฐDid some walking ๐Ÿšถ along NY 8 just for exercise too and to take in the scenery.

Came back relatively early, I was unpacked by about six. ๐Ÿก Laid back on my bed for a while before showering ๐Ÿšฟ and shaving. Got a nice tan. Those side burns I’ve grown are coming in nicely but I do need a hair cut ๐Ÿ’‡. I’m going to do some trimming myself in the morning as who knows when the barber ๐Ÿ’ˆ is going to be allowed to reopen. My barber is so elderly, I wonder if he will just hang up his hat ๐ŸŽฉ after the pandemic. I decided to avoid the expressway and cities home so I took NY 30 to Duanesburg Churches Road past the Mariaville Farm to US 20. Pretty drive with things greening up outside Amsterdam but I tell you there are some sharp curves on NY 30 south of Amsterdam. ๐Ÿ”ถ

Tonight will be partly cloudy ๐ŸŒค, with a low of 49 degrees at 6am. Five degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical night around May 21st. West wind 6 to 8 mph. In 2019, we had cloudy skies. It got down to 52 degrees. The record low of 28 occurred back in 1985.

Tonight will have a Waxing Gibbous ๐ŸŒ” Moon with 85% illuminated. At 10 PM, the moon was in the south (175ยฐ) at an altitude of 52ยฐ from the horizon, some 226,511 miles away from where you are looking up from the earth. ๐Ÿš€ At the state speed limit of 55 mph, you’ll make it there by October 22nd. Buckle up for safety! ๐Ÿ’บ The Flower ๐ŸŒท Moon is on Thursday, May 7. The darkest hour is at 12:53 am, followed by dawn at 5:16 am, and sun starting to rise at 5:48 am in the east-northeast (68ยฐ) and last for 3 minutes and 8 seconds. Sunrise is one minute and 19 seconds earlier than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ„ The golden hour ends at 6:27 am with sun in the east-northeast (74ยฐ). Tonight will have 9 hours and 46 minutes of darkness, a decrease of 2 minutes and 24 seconds over last night.

Tomorrow will have a slight chance of showers between 11am and 1pm. Partly sunny ๐ŸŒฆ, with a high of 57 degrees at 11am. Nine degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical day around April 13th. Northwest wind 9 to 18 mph, with gusts as high as 31 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%. A year ago, we had light rain in the morning, which became light rain by afternoon. The high last year was 67 degrees. The record high of 91 was set in 1944. There was a dusting of snow in 1986.โ„

Tomorrow I probably should go to the laundromat ๐Ÿ‘–๐Ÿ‘• ๐Ÿ‘š and wash some clothes and probably my sheets too. I can probably bring my laptop there and work from there, uploading pictures from the weekend that was. I’m good on food but the two gallons of milk I bought last week is almost all drunk. I do like my cow ๐Ÿฎ beverages. Other than that I should be good on food until mid week.

As I noted previously, last weekend I got another tick bite. ๐ŸœI was sore found it on Tuesday. Its been weird – sometimes I feel fine other times terribly stiff and sore. No bulls eye though. Went to the doctor on Friday, she kind of thought I didn’t have Lyme but gave me doxycline. ๐Ÿ’Š I held off taking it as I went to the Adirondacks for the weekend and knew doxycline and sun don’t mix due to the risk of severe sunburn. I’m also a little mixed on my concern – it stings from time to time around where I was bit, I’ve been super sleepy at times. ๐Ÿ˜ด I don’t want to take an antibiotic I don’t need. But I guess the doctor while questioning ๐Ÿ™‹ me said I should take it. I don’t know what to think.

It was such a werid experience going to the doctors office during the pandemic. ๐Ÿ˜ซThe doors had big signs warning people that if they had cold or flu symptoms they aren’t welcome and that they did not offer Coronavirus testing there. The whole experience was kind of odd and frightening. ๐Ÿ‘พ

While I’m always cautious about social distancing and wearing a mask out in public places but between the limited vision under the banada, the empty doctors office, the hand sanitizer everywhere and all these things like a special Coronavirus questionnaire that I had to do on my phone before the doctor would see me. ๐Ÿ“ฑ I was so creeped out by the experience.

In four weeks on May 31 the sun will be setting in the west-northwest (301ยฐ) at 8:26 pm,๐ŸŒ„ which is 27 minutes and 53 seconds later then tonight. In 2019 on that day, we had partly cloudy, mist and temperatures between 76 and 55 degrees. Typically, you have temperatures between 74 and 52 degrees. The record high of 92 degrees was set back in 2013.

It looks like for Mothers Day it’s going to be cold and they might get snow in the Adirondacks. โ„ It does not look like a good weekend to get out of town. I’m still thinking about a mid May trip out to Schoharie County – maybe three nights with me working from my truck on a Monday. โ›บ I’m thinking the last week of May – the one after Memorial Day Weekend – to do a three night trip to Piseco Powley Road starting that Thursday night before the weekend if it is nice. I hope to have the screen house by then to avoid the bugs. Peak black fly season isn’t so bad if I have shelter during the day as black flies aren’t out after dark. Memorial Day Weekend proper I’ll stay home ๐Ÿก most likely to avoid the crowds especially if other developed campgrounds are closed forcing people into the back country taking up all the good sites. I’m also seriously thinking about planning my summer vacation up at Piseco Powley Road – and a week at the House Pond Swimming Hole could make up for all the state park pools being closed. ๐ŸŠ I’d have to see about getting a camping permit.

Looking ahead, Mothers Day ๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€ is in 1 week, Pack Rat Day ๐Ÿ€ is in 2 weeks, Strawberry Moon ๐ŸŒ• is in 5 weeks, Fathers Day ๐Ÿ‘จ is in 6 weeks, Election Day 2020 ๐Ÿ—ณ๏ธ is in 6 months and Election Day 2020 ๐Ÿ—ณ๏ธ is in 6 months.

Tulip Time!

April 28, 2020 Night

Good evening! Partly clear and 52 degrees in Delmar, NY. There is a north breeze at 5 mph. ๐Ÿƒ. Nice evening, sat out back for a while. Evening ๐ŸŒƒ walk was full of moonlight and stars.

A few random things going on at work today ๐Ÿ’ผ but relatively quiet for most of the day. I went out to Five Rivers Environmental Education Center for a walk ๐Ÿธ and the internet. I was super annoyed that I couldn’t upload my Coronavirus map the normal way to the blog – an issue I’m going to research and figure out tomorrow.

I continued to work on my comments and analysis for Save the Pine Bush regarding the development of the apartment complex in the Pine Bush. ๐ŸŒฒLots of rendering maps and studying data. I may also do some interviews for additional background.

Pulled another fully engorged tick ๐Ÿœoff my arm this evening ๐Ÿ™‹, after I noticed my arm was stinging. I am guessing that I have Lyme disease again but I’ll wait for a bulls eye rash to appear. I did feel a bit achy today so I’m sure that’s what I got. ๐ŸŽฏI should have checked more carefully after hiking back through the brush on Saturday at Partridge Run. ๐ŸŒฒ I’ll have to figure out the telemedicine thing which sucks as I don’t have internet at home but I can probably take pictures and go to the library to get Wi-Fi if necessary. I guess the first step is to call ๐Ÿ“ž the nurse line if I am sure I have Lyme. Doxycline is $5 and approved telemedicine is free ๐Ÿ†“ during Coronavirus but I just hope that I don’t get super sick from Lyme. ๐Ÿ˜ท

Tonight will be partly cloudy ๐ŸŒค, with a low of 38 degrees at 5am. Four degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical night around April 18th. North wind around 5 mph becoming calm in the evening. In 2019, we had clear skies in the evening, which became partly cloudy by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 31 degrees. The record low of 27 occurred back in 1947.

Tonight will have a Waxing Crescent ๐ŸŒ’ Moon with 32% illuminated. At 10 PM, the moon was in the west (271ยฐ) at an altitude of 36ยฐ from the horizon, some 236,130 miles away from where you are looking up from the earth. ๐Ÿš€ At the state speed limit of 55 mph, you’ll make it there by October 24th. Buckle up for safety! ๐Ÿ’บYou don’t want to go to the hospital ๐Ÿฅ during a pandemic due to an aborted mission to space. Click it or ticket ๐ŸŽซ from the space cops. ๐Ÿ‘ฎ I bet social distancing is hard in zero gravity. The Flower ๐ŸŒท Moon is on Thursday, May 7. The darkest hour is at 12:54 am, followed by dawn at 5:24 am, and sun starting to rise at 5:54 am in the east-northeast (70ยฐ) and last for 3 minutes and 6 seconds. Sunrise is one minute and 25 seconds earlier than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ„ The golden hour ends at 6:33 am with sun in the east-northeast (76ยฐ). Tonight will have 9 hours and 59 minutes of darkness, a decrease of 2 minutes and 32 seconds over last night.

Tomorrow will have a slight chance of showers after 1pm. Increasing clouds โ›… with a high of 56 degrees at 1pm. Eight degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical day around April 11th. Light southeast wind becoming south 8 to 13 mph in the morning. Winds could gust as high as 23 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%. A year ago, we had light rain in the morning, remaining cloudy in the afternoon. The high last year was 58 degrees. The record high of 88 was set in 1888. 1 inch of snow fell back in 1885.โ„

Not a real wash out tomorrow ๐Ÿ’ฆbut the heavy rain comes Thursday into Friday – probably multiple inches of good soaking rain. โ˜” Rain is a good thing. While we’ve had a lot of dreary days in April with some showers things are still quite dry as we go into May and a good soaker would be a good thing. I am a bit concerned about how though it will infringe on my weekend plans – right now the rain looks to continue into Friday night into Saturday. Maybe it won’t be a good weekend to get away? A lot depends on this tick bite and if it develops into full blown Lyme. I should have checked more carefully last weekend.

In four weeks on May 26 the sun will be setting in the west-northwest (300ยฐ) at 8:21 pm,๐ŸŒ„ which is 29 minutes and 17 seconds later then tonight. In 2019 on that day, we had partly sunny and temperatures between 86 and 57 degrees. Typically, you have temperatures between 72 and 50 degrees. The record high of 94 degrees was set back in 2010.

Looking ahead, Cinco de Mayo ๐Ÿค  is in 1 week, Primary Day ๐Ÿ—ณ๏ธ is in 8 weeks, Election Day 2020 ๐Ÿ—ณ๏ธ is in 27 weeks and Election Day 2020 ๐Ÿ—ณ๏ธ is in 27 weeks.
